Anton Forsberg stopped 35 of 38 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Blackhawks found themselves down 2-0 and 3-1 in the first two periods, but they managed to tie the game before Brandon Saad scored the game-winner in overtime. Forsberg has a 1-1-2 record with a 3.87 goals-against-average and a .902 save percentage this season. He isn't worth owning in any fantasy leagues.
Nov 11 - 10:46 PM

The Chicago Blackhawks will have Anton Forsberg in goal when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Forsberg's last start was a 6-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche and he is still searching for his first win of the season. Chicago's backup netminder has a 0-1-2 record with a 4.26 goals against average and .895 save percentage. If he struggles in tonight's start, don't be surprised if the Blackhawks decide to give Jean-Francois Berube a shot at backing up Crawford.
Nov 11 - 2:22 PM

Anton Forsberg will be back in the crease on Saturday or Sunday.

Corey Crawford, who will start Thursday night, was in goal for back-to-back games last weekend, but he will split action with Forsberg this time around. Forsberg hasn't played since Oct. 28 when he allowed five goals on just 20 shots to Colorado in a 6-3 loss. He has a 0-1-2 record with a 4.26 GAA and .895 save percentage this season.
Nov 9 - 5:21 PM

Anton Forsberg stopped 15 of 20 shots before being pulled in a 6-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

The Avalanche came out flying tonight and jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the end of the first period. Regardless, Forsberg turned in a terrible effort and he might have to wait a while before head coach Joel Quenneville calls his name again. The loss drops Forsberg's record to 0-1-2 with a 4.25 goals against average and a .895 save percentage. We wouldn't be surprised to see the Blackhawks give J-F Berube a shot at backing up Crawford in the near future.
Oct 29 - 12:38 AM

Anton Forsberg is expected to start in goal tonight against the Colorado Avalanche.

Forsberg played for Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar in the AHL. Forsberg will be searching for his first win of the season in his third start. He currently has a 2.90 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.
Oct 28 - 2:56 PM

Anton Forsberg stopped 40 of 42 shots in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Forsberg had no chance on Patrick Maroon's first-period goal and Edmonton's game-winning goal in overtime was scored on the power play. Forsberg has now lost both of his appearances in the extra frame. The Blackhawks backup goalie will enter his next game with a 2.80 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage this season. He has no fantasy value.
Oct 19 - 11:49 PM

Anton Forsberg is expected to start Thursday night.

Forsberg will be making his second start of the 2017-18 campaign. He stopped 39 of 43 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto on Oct. 9.
Oct 19 - 1:56 PM

Anton Forsberg kicked out 39 of 43 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto.

Forsberg made his Blackhawks debut. He had a 4.02 GAA and .879 save percentage in 10 career contests with Columbus, but despite those numbers he has the potential to be a very good backup netminder for Chicago.
Oct 9 - 9:56 PM

Anton Forsberg will be in the crease for Monday's match against Toronto.

The Blackhawks play in Montreal on Tuesday and Corey Crawford will get that start in his hometown. This will be Forsberg's first regular-season start with Chicago and his 11th career NHL appearance. He owns one win with a 4.02 GAA and an .879 save percentage in his previous 10 outings.
Oct 9 - 12:54 PM

Anton Forsberg made a great first impression in his quest to earn Chicago's backup goalie job.

He played the full game in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Columbus and he stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced. "It's always a competition [for] spots," Forsberg said. "It doesn't really matter to me. I can't do anything other than play my game and focus on my game. I'm trying to get better every night. Everybody else in there is trying to do the same thing." He will have to outperform Jean-Francois Berube to keep the position.
Sep 20 - 6:33 PM

Blackhawks goalie coach Jimmy Waite is looking forward to working with Anton Forsberg.

"I can't wait to work with him," Waite said. "I've watched many videos of him. You'll like him." The Hawks traded Scott Darling to Carolina during the offseason, which is why they needed to find a new backup for Corey Crawford. Forsberg was acquired from Columbus as part of the Artemi Panarin trade in late June, and he signed a two-year contract extension with Chicago this summer. He won't have much fantasy value going into next season.
Jul 23 - 10:26 AM

Anton Forsberg looks like he is the favorite to be Corey Crawford's understudy in 2017-18.

The Blackhawks signed J.F. Berube on Saturday to improve their goaltending depth, but it appears that Forsberg is being looked at as the team's backup and Berube will head to the AHL. Make a note of this for draft day.

The Chicago Blackhawks are hoping they've gained another strong backup goalie in Anton Forsberg.

Chicago has had some pretty good backups in recent years between Antti Raanta and Scott Darling and perhaps Forsberg can continue that trend. "We’re optimistic about Anton’s potential," Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman said. "We like his profile as a goalie. He’s a big guy, takes up a lot of net, has that mobility and makes good positional saves as well as athletic saves. A year ago, led his team to the Calder Cup championships, so he knows what it’s like to put a team on his back. It was the AHL, but he’s had a lot of success there." Forsberg has struggled in his limited NHL tenure though. He has a 4.02 GAA and .879 save percentage in 10 career NHL contests.

Jun 30 - 4:12 AM

Anton Forsberg is hoping he will have a chance to nail down the backup goaltending position in Chicago after Scott Darling was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Forsberg recently signed a new two-year deal after he was acquired in the trade that sent Artemi Panarin to Columbus. "I haven’t played a lot in the NHL so far, and my numbers aren’t great [in] the ones I’ve played," Forsberg said. "But I played a lot in the AHL and I feel like I [did] some good things there, winning the Calder Cup two years ago, and [put up] good numbers in a lot of games. I gained a lot of experience in that time, and I’m ready to take the next step." Forsberg's $750,000 cap hit fits in perfectly in Chicago seeing as they are tight against the cap. Barring a pre-season collapse, he will likely open the season as Corey Crawford's backup.
