Alexey Marchenko has signed a three-year deal with CSKA Moscow of the KHL.
Marchenko's agent Dan Milstein said that the player would like to return to the NHL one day, but unless he has an out-clause, that's unlikely to happen. Alexey Marchenko will continue his playing career over in Russia, according to agent Dan Milstein.

Milstein also added that his client is planning on returning to the NHL at some point. The Maple Leafs placed Marchenko on waivers yesterday which means he'll be bought out in the next few hours/days. He had eight points in 41 games with Detroit and Toronto last season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed Alexey Marchenko on waivers.

Assuming he clears waivers, the Leafs are expected to buy the 25-year-old out. He'd then head over to the KHL, according to The Athletic's James Mirtle. Marchenko had eight points in 41 games with the Maple Leafs and Red Wings last season. He has one-year and $1.45 million remaining on his current contract.

Alexey Marchenko will be a healthy scratch in Game 4 of the first round series against the Washington Capitals.

Marchenko has yet to dress in the postseason, even with the earlier injury to Nikita Zaitsev and most recently to Roman Polak, whose spot is being filled by Martin Marincin. Ben Smith will be in the press box as will Josh Leivo.

Alexey Marchenko will serve as a healthy scratch in Game 3 against Washington on Monday night.

Ironically, his first point with Toronto came against his old team, the Detroit Red Wings. Marchenko has suited up in six games since he was claimed off waivers from Detroit. He has posted just four goals and 20 points in 116 career NHL contests.

Alexey Marchenko will make his Leafs debut on Thursday night versus the Rangers.

He was claimed off waivers from Detroit nearly three weeks ago and finally gets the chance to play because of an injury to Connor Carrick. "There was nothing I could do but be patient and work hard in practice," Marchenko said. "I've tried to adjust to the team and the city, move into a new place. I've been here for the World Cup and playing against the Marlies for a couple of years." He is projected to be paired with Jake Gardiner.
