Alexey Marchenko (lower body) could participate in Monday's practice.

The young blueliner is still considered day-to-day at this point.
Oct 4 - 11:19 AM

Alexey Marchenko will join the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL playoffs.

Grand Rapids trails the Toronto Marlies 2-1 in their best-of-five series. Marchenko suited up in 13 games with Detroit in the regular season and another three contests in the postseason.
Apr 30 - 2:18 PM

Alexey Marchenko will play in Game 7 on Wednesday night.

The Red Wings will be missing Niklas Kronwall (suspension) and Marek Zidlicky (undisclosed), so Marchenko will get back into the lineup for the first time since Game 2. He averaged 18:42 of ice time in his previous two appearances in the postseason.
Apr 29 - 12:30 PM

Alexey Marchenko may get back into the lineup Wednesday for Game 7.

Marchenko suited up in the first two games of the series before being relegated to the press box in favor of Brendan Smith. Niklas Kronwall has been suspended for Game 7, so Marchenko or Jakub Kindl, who hasn't played since Apr. 11, will play in his place.
Apr 29 - 10:43 AM

Alexey Marchenko will be seated in favor of Brendan Smith for Game Three against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. Smith is expected to pair with Marek Zidlicky on the third unit.

Marchenko will be joined by Stephen Weiss, Teemu Pulkkinen, Daniel Cleary and Jakub Kindl in the press box. Of note, Pulkkinen put up eight points in 31 games with the Wings this season, but he also accumulated 65 goals and 120 points for AHL Grand Rapids the past two seasons.

Apr 21 - 6:48 PM

Alexey Marchenko might be in the press box for Game 3.

He has a minus-3 rating after the first two games of the series and he has struggled with his defensive coverages. Brendan Smith may get to draw back into the lineup or Jakub Kindl could get the nod.
Apr 20 - 10:49 AM

Alexey Marchenko will make his NHL playoff debut on Thursday.

He has played in 13 games with Detroit this season. Marchenko played in the regular-season finale at the expense of Brendan Smith, but it's unclear right now who will be scratched in Game 1.
Apr 13 - 5:31 PM

Alexey Marchenko has been called up by the Detroit Red Wings.

Marchenko has three goals and 20 points in 51 AHL contests in 2014-15. He also has a goal and an assist in 12 games with Detroit. Given that the Red Wings have already secured a postseason berth, it wouldn't be surprising to see them use Marchenko on Saturday.
Apr 10 - 4:07 PM

Alexey Marchenko has been reassigned to the minors.

He hasn't played since Feb. 28 because of an oblique strain. In 12 NHL appearances, Marchenko has two points, eight hits and nine blocks.
Mar 18 - 4:37 PM

Alexey Marchenko travelled with his Red Wings' teammates to Philadelphia for Saturday afternoon's game.

Although he has seemingly recovered from an oblique strain, he hasn't yet been cleared to play. Don't be surprised if he gets that clearance prior to Saturday's contest, though.
Mar 14 - 9:01 AM

Alexey Marchenko (oblique strain) took part in Wednesday's practice.

"I probably need another practice," Marchenko said. "There's no reason to rush. It's pretty close." He hasn't played since Feb. 28, but it looks like he'll be back in the lineup soon.
Mar 12 - 9:05 AM

Alexey Marchenko is expected to miss seven-to-10 days with an oblique strain.

He scored his first NHL goal in Saturday's game against Nashville and logged 12:47 of ice time, but he was apparently injured in that match. Marek Zidlicky's acquisition from New Jersey on Monday could send Marchenko when he's ready to return.
Mar 3 - 9:46 AM

Alexey Marchenko scored his first NHL goal in Saturday's win against Nashville.

Marchenko's third period goal was a big one, as he tied the game at three at the 3:56 mark of the period. The 23-year-old has earned Mike Babcock's praise for being steady defensively so it's nice to see him chip in with some points every so often.
Mar 1 - 11:25 AM

Mike Babcock has been very impressed with Alexey Marchenko's play of late.

"I like him," Babcock said. "He's never in the scoring chances against. I actually like him better after the game, when I watch the tape, than I like him during the game. He's go to get quicker, but he's really smart. In practice the other day, he was our best d-man in a drill down low, 2-on-1, where all kids we call up get eaten up alive. He was outstanding." The 23-year-old has been solid in his own end, but he doesn't offer much fantasy upside right now. He has no points in seven games with Detroit this season.
