Antti Raanta made 28 saves in Chicago’s 3-2 loss to St. Louis on Saturday night.

Raanta gave up three unanswered goals. After winning in his first start of the season, Raanta has now given up six goals over his last two, both losses. Corey Crawford is firmly entrenched as the Blackhawks’ starter, so Raanta should just see a handful of starts each month. Of course, that changes if Crawford continues to be nagged by an upper-body injury.
Oct 25 - 11:46 PM

Antti Raanta will get the start in goal against the Blues Saturday night.

Starter Corey Crawford is still dealing with an upper-body injury and he will not play in Sunday's game against Ottawa either.
Oct 25 - 12:49 PM

Antti Raanta made 24 saves in a 3-2 loss in Nashville during his second game in charge for the injured Corey Crawford.

Raanta could not quite follow up the shutout he posted on Tuesday night, as he faced 27 shots and allowed James Neal to beat him three times. Raanta will try to redeem himself on Saturday night in St. Louis. Raanta is now 1-1 with a 1.51 goals against average and .949 save percentage.
Oct 23 - 11:31 PM

In his first action of the season, Chicago netminder Antti Raanta was perfect as he shut out the Flyers by a score of 4-0.

Starting in place of the injured Corey Crawford, Raanta blocked all 32 shots he faced and earned his first win of the year. Though he was mediocre when called upon last season, the Blackhawks' backup would be a valuable addition in Crawford were to miss any length of time thanks to a terrific supporting cast.
Oct 22 - 12:28 AM

Antti Raanta will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

Raanta had a 2.71 GAA and .897 save percentage in 25 contests in 2013-14. He wasn't expected to get his first start of the season until this weekend, but Corey Crawford is unavailable.
Oct 21 - 12:43 PM

Antti Raanta is likely to play this weekend, according to coach Joel Quenneville.

The Blackhawks play back-to-back games against St. Louis and Ottawa on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. It's probable that Raanta will be in the crease versus the Senators, but we'll keep you posted.

Oct 20 - 6:02 PM

Antti Raanta will begin the 2014-15 season seeking a comfort level as an NHL backup goalie.

"You try to focus a little bit more when you're not playing and maybe try to get your practice [to feel like] a game," said Raanta. "So we'll see how it's going to go. You have to be mentally ready to be not playing so much. But I don't want to talk too much about sitting on the bench. I just want to play when I get the chance and try to do my best." He played well when he filled for an injured Corey Crawford as Chicago's starter, but his play fell off when he was relegated to the backup role. Raanta is hopeful that he can make the adjustment this season after getting a year of NHL experience under his belt.
Sep 26 - 10:15 AM

The Chicago Blackhawks have inked Antti Raanta to a two-year contract extension.

Raanta had a 2.71 GAA and .897 save percentage in 25 games with Chicago in 2013-14. He was originally expected to spend the season in the minors, but he moved up in the depth charts because Nikolai Khabibulin spent most of the campaign on the sidelines. This time around, Raanta will enter the season as Chicago's clear backup.
Jun 27 - 10:27 AM

The Chicago Blackhawks are looking for Antti Raanta to continue to serve as the team's backup goaltender in 2014-15.

Raanta gained that role when Nikolai Khabibulin suffered a season-ending injury. The Blackhawks need to re-sign him as he's scheduled to become a restricted free agent, but it looks like they plan to do so and not pursue a veteran backup to take his place.
Jun 11 - 5:03 PM

Look for Antti Raanta to be back as the Chicago Blackhawks' backup goaltender in 2014-15.

Raanta spent most of the campaign in that role, but that was because Nikolai Khabibulin suffered a season-ending injury. It looks like Chicago won't go down the route of signing another veteran to backup Corey Crawford. They do need to come to terms with Raanta though, as he's a restricted free agent.
Jun 3 - 2:41 PM

Antti Raanta is slated for restricted free agency this summer.

He wants to re-sign with the Blackhawks, but said his contract situations is a "big mystery" right now. Raanta became Corey Crawford's backup after he played well when Chicago's number one keeper was injured.
May 20 - 1:25 PM

The game marked the end of the regular season for the Blackhawks. The Stanley Cup defending championship finished with a 46-21-15 record, good for third in the Central Division. They will face either the Colorado Avalanche or the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference first round. Raanta finishes the season with a record of 13-5-4, a GAA of 2.71 and a save percentage of .897.
Apr 12 - 11:11 PM

Look for Antti Raanta to start in goal against the Predators Saturday night.

He has not started in a week but will get the call to give Corey Crawford a rest heading into the playoffs. He did play Friday night in relief of Crawford in a loss to Washington and stopped all seven shots he faced.
Apr 12 - 12:34 PM

Antti Raanta stopped 24 of 27 shots, and rode a last-second goal by his offense to a 4-3 win over Columbus on Friday night.

Raanta improves to 13-4-4 this season after a string of five straight winless appearances where he went 0-3-1 and allowed 17 goals in four and a half games. The 24 year old owns a .900 save percentage and 2.60 goals against average, providing decent relief for the Stanley Cup Champions' starter Corey Crawford.
