After signing a two-year extension with the New York Rangers, Antti Raanta might play a bit of a bigger role in 2016-17.
Raanta appeared in 25 games in 2015-16, starting 18 of them, but starter Henrik Lundqvist might be used a bit less frequently going forward. Nothing is set in stone, but Lundqvist is 34 years old now and is playing for a franchise that has aspirations of going far next season despite their 2016 first round exit. Consider his .912 even strength save percentage and 35 goals against in 17 games thus far, and that Buffalo played on Monday and you have yourself a stealthy pick.
