Antti Raanta's name isn't on the Stanley Cup for Chicago's 2014-15 championship.
Raanta was a member of the Blackhawks last season, but he ultimately lost the backup job to Scott Darling. Chicago could have still petitioned to get his name on the Cup after Raanta played in 14 regular season games for the Blackhawks, but they apparently didn't. This comes after Raanta commented to a Finnish newspaper that he had rooted against the Blackhawks, although the interviewer said that the quote by itself lacked the proper context. Antti Raanta essentially has won the Rangers’ backup goalie job.

The team reassigned Magnus Hellberg to Hartford, leaving the Rangers with Raanta and Henrik Lundqvist. Raanta was expected to win the job when the Rangers acquired him in the offseason. He had a 1.89 goals-against average and .936 save percentage in 14 games with the Blackhawks last season.

Antti Raanta's interviewer, Juha Luotola, said that the goaltender did admit that he had hoped Nashville would sweep Chicago, but that the quote by itself lacks proper context.

Raanta has denied making such comments after the story emerged from Finland's Ilta-Sanomat. Luotola says he has the interview on tape though. "Antti was frustrated after Chicago send him [a] second time [to the] AHL and he told me truly how he felt. Statement looks bad if you read only one line from story. It's easy to [be] misunderstood and get away from the full story," Luotola said. "But I also know that Antti didn't mean that in bad way. It was just his way to explain how frustrated he was: bad feeling last couple hours and after that, he was happy to be a part of team again."

Antti Raanta is disputing a report from Finland's Ilta-Sanomat that claimed he wanted the Chicago Blackhawks to lose in the 2015 playoffs.

Raanta was still a member of the Blackhawks at the time, but had lost the backup job. "I have never said anything like that," Raanta insists. He added that he's not the type of person to root against his own team. Raanta was traded to the New York Rangers this summer.
Sep 2 - 5:12 PM

A report from Finland's Ilta-Sanomat has Antti Raanta quoted as saying that he was rooting for the Nashville Predators to sweep the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round.

Raanta was still a member of the Blackhawks at the time, but he had lost his place as the team's backup to Scott Darling. Chicago dealt Raanta to the New York Rangers to serve as New York's number two netminder.
Sep 2 - 12:55 PM

The New York Rangers sent prospect Ryan Haggerty to the Chicago Blackhawks for goalie Antti Raanta.

With Cam Talbot out of town, the Rangers needed a new backup for Henrik Lundqvist, so Raanta will (cheaply) fit the bill. Chicago saves money, as they already had Scott Darling in place behind Corey Crawford heading into 2015-16.

Antti Raanta was recalled from AHL Rockford to the Chicago in preparations for the NHL playoffs, which begin on Wednesday for the Blackhawks.

Raanta was displaced by rookie Scott Darling so don't expect to see much of him unless an injury to the goaltending occurs. In 25 combined games that were split nearly evenly between Chicago and Rockford, Raanta posted a 15-5-2 record with four shutouts and 49 goals against this season.
Apr 12 - 6:03 PM

Antti Raanta was reassigned to AHL Rockford on Sunday evening.

No specific reasoning was given for Raanta's demotion. The 25 year old Finland native owns a 7-4-1 record, with a shutout, and a .936 save percentage and a 1.89 GAA in 14 games for the Blackhawks this season.
Feb 22 - 9:04 PM

Antti Raanta stopped 14 of 16 shots in relief of Corey Crawford in Sunday's 6-2 loss to Boston.

Crawford got the hook after allowing four goals on 14 shots through a period and a half. Raanta entered the game with the Hawks trailing 4-1. Crawford, not Raanta, was charged with the loss. Chicago falls to 2-2-3 on their current home stand.
Feb 22 - 6:18 PM

Chicago goalie Antti Raanta made 27 saves in regulation and overtime Monday night but the Blackhawks dropped a 3-2 decision to the visiting Arizona Coyotes in a shootout.

Raanta played well but was outshone on this night by Arizona goalie Mike Smith, who made 36 saves. Raanta, backup to first-string Chicago goalie Corey Crawford, now has a season record of 7-4-1. His goals-against average is a not-too-shabby 1.80. His save percentage is .938. He's a good backup for Chicago, for sure, but he was a hard-luck goalie Monday as Arizona was the better team, inexplicably, in this one.
Feb 10 - 12:06 AM

Antti Raanta will be in Chicago's crease Monday night against Arizona.

Corey Crawford was in goal for Sunday's 4-2 win against St. Louis, so he'll get the night off. Adjust your lineup accordingly.
Feb 9 - 5:51 PM

Antti Raanta made 18 saves in the Blackhawks’ 2-0 loss to the Sharks on Saturday night.

Making his first start since Jan. 20, and third in January, Raanta was generally excellent, except for the juicy rebound he let up on a Matt Irwin shot that led to Melker Karlsson’s goal. The final goal went in via the empty net. Raanta has a 1.80 goals-against average and .939 save percentage this season.
Feb 1 - 1:14 AM

Look for Antti Raanta to get the start Saturday night against San Jose.

The Blackhawks played Friday night and won against the Ducks 4-1 with Corey Crawford making 21 saves. So it is likely that Raanta will get the call in the second of back-to-back contests. In his last start on January 21st, Raanta was sharp stopping 35 shots in a 6-1 win over Phoenix.
Jan 31 - 12:34 PM

Antti Raanta cruised to an easy victory over the Coyotes Tuesday as he blocked 35 of 36 shots in a 6-1 result.

Raanta was supported generously by his teammates in the outing so he didn't really need to be that sharp to earn a victory, however he continued his season-long trend and turned in a good performance. His 7-3-0 record in limited action is accompanied by a 1.87 GAA and a .938 save percentage.
Jan 21 - 1:57 AM

Antti Raanta will be between the pipes for Chicago on Tuesday against Arizona.

The backup netminder was shelled for four goals on 21 shots against Edmonton in his last outing, but he has been solid this season when called upon. Raanta owns a 6-3-0 record to go with a .934 save percentage and a 1.96 goals-against average. Corey Crawford will probably be back in Chicago's crease for Wednesday's road match versus Pittsburgh.
