Antti Raanta will get the nod on Friday.
Raanta stopped 17 of 18 shots in a 2-1 win over the Jets on Thursday. It's surprising to see a backup goaltender play on back-to-back nights, especially when your starter is as established as Henrik Lundqvist is. That said, Lundqvist has been a bit of a mixed bag lately and Raanta is coming off a win, so perhaps the Rangers are hoping to build a little momentum. Dec 9 - 2:45 PM

Antti Raanta allowed one goal on 18 shots in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Raanta has been one of the better backup goalies in the NHL this season. He wasn't overly busy tonight, but he managed to do enough to win a close game. Raanta has a 6-1-0 record with a 2.05 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage. He'd only become relevant in fantasy leagues if Henrik Lundqvist were to miss some time.

Rangers goalie Antti Raanta, filling in for first-string goalie Henrik Lundquist, increased his perfect record on the season to 5-0-0 Monday night as New York came back to beat the Penguins 5-2 in Pittsburgh.

The Rangers trailed 2-0 after the first period before the Rangers bounced back with five unanswered goals. Raanta was outstanding, recording 29 saves. He improved his goals-against average to 2.05. His save percentage is .938. Because he plays only periodically, he isn't worth a spot on your fantasy league team but keep your eyes open for him in one-night fantasy play.
