Goalie Antti Raanta, Corey Crawford's backup, could turn aside only 16 shots in the Chicago Blackhawks' 7-5 loss to the Predators in Nashville Saturday night.

Look for Antti Raanta to start in goal against the Predators Saturday night.

He has not started in a week but will get the call to give Corey Crawford a rest heading into the playoffs. He did play Friday night in relief of Crawford in a loss to Washington and stopped all seven shots he faced.
Apr 12 - 12:34 PM

Antti Raanta stopped 24 of 27 shots, and rode a last-second goal by his offense to a 4-3 win over Columbus on Friday night.

Raanta improves to 13-4-4 this season after a string of five straight winless appearances where he went 0-3-1 and allowed 17 goals in four and a half games. The 24 year old owns a .900 save percentage and 2.60 goals against average, providing decent relief for the Stanley Cup Champions' starter Corey Crawford.
Apr 4 - 10:28 PM

Antti Raanta allowed five goals on 29 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Friday night.

Raanta falls to 12-4-4 on the season and posts his fifth straight abysmal start. The 24 year old Finn was superb filling in while starter Corey Crawford was injured earlier in the season, but the Hawks cannot be happy with their backup right now, who has allowed 15 goals in his last four appearances.
Mar 28 - 10:33 PM

Antti Raanta will start for Chicago on Friday.

Corey Crawford will get a night off after starting on Thursday. Raantan has a 2.45 GAA and .905 save percentage in 21 games in 2013-14.
Mar 28 - 5:37 PM

Anntti Raanta suffered a rare loss on Tuesday as the Blackhawks were beaten by Philadelphia in overtime by a score of 3-2.

Raanta put forth a strong effort in the loss as he stopped 34 of 37 shots despite lowering his record to 12-3-4. He's not likely to see the net again soon, but he can be counted on to deliver an impressive performance when he does. His GAA is 2.45 while his save percentage is .905.
Mar 19 - 12:32 AM

Antti Raanta will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

It will be Raanta's second start in four games. He has a 2.44 GAA and .904 save percentage in 20 games this season.
Mar 18 - 12:31 PM

Antti Raanta allowed three goals on 29 shots in Chicago's 3-2 loss to Colorado Wednesday night.

Raanta played his first game since Jan. 28 and he allowed one easy goal. He still has a solid 12-3-3 record with a 2.44 goals-against average and .904 save percentage. Look for Corey Crawford to start on Friday against Nashville.
Mar 13 - 3:53 AM

The Chicago Blackhawks will go with Antti Raanta on Wednesday.

Raanta has a 2.40 GAA and .904 save percentage in 19 games this season. He hasn't played since Jan. 28, but he might get a bit more ice time going forward in the interests of keeping Corey Crawford fresh for the playoffs.
Mar 11 - 3:22 PM

Coach Joel Quenneville said that Antti Raanta is projected to play at some point this week.

"We want to get him some games," Quenneville said. Raanta hasn't played since he was pulled against Calgary on Jan. 28. He could get the nod against Phoenix on Friday. Chicago also plays back-to-back situations for the following two weeks, so he should get some playing time then as well.
Mar 10 - 11:05 AM

Antti Raanta will start against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.

Chicago will play against Vancouver on Wednesday and the Blackhawks want Corey Crawford rested for that contest. Raanta has a 2.24 GAA and .910 save percentage in 18 games in 2013-14.
Jan 28 - 2:19 PM

Antti Raanta didn't have the greatest of outings Thursday as the Blackhawks were beaten by Minnesota by a score of 2-1.

Jan 23 - 11:52 PM

Antti Raanta is expected to start Thursday in Minnesota.

Corey Crawford allowed four goals on 31 shots in a 5-4 shootout loss to Detroit on Wednesday, so it's not surprising that he would get the night off. Raanta made 18 saves on 20 shots in a win over Edmonton on Jan. 12 in his last outing.
Jan 23 - 5:23 PM

Annti Raanta was given an easy ride in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Oilers.

Ranta allowed two goals, but only faced 20 shots in the win, which improved his record to 12-1-3 on the year. Corey Crawford's return would seem to severely limit Raanta's opportunities going forward, but he's an excellent handcuff for Crawford owners. His GAA is 2.25 while his save percentage is .911.
Jan 12 - 9:50 PM

Coach Joel Quenneville had been coy about what Antti Raanta’s role will be going forward with the Blackhawks in light of Corey Crawford’s return from injury.

Simply put, Raanta has been too good to send back to Rockford. "Antti coming in and doing what he did was very remarkable," Quenneville said Friday after Raanta was named co-rookie of the month with Kings goalie Martin Jones. "He put us in a good spot as a team. So it’s great for him and a good start to his career." While Raanta surely would get more playing time with AHL Rockford, Jason LaBarbera was expected to be sent there instead, with Raanta staying on as Crawford’s backup.
