Antti Raanta stopped all 12 shots he faced in the third period of Tuesday's 2-1 win at San Jose.

Raanta was thrust into action in the first minute of the final period after starter Scott Wedgewood went down and banged his head hard on the ice. Wedgewood went immediately into the league's mandated concussion protocol. Raanta entered with the Coyotes leading 2-1, and that's exactly how the game finished, so he did not factor into the decision. If this were baseball, he would earn a save, but it's hockey so he received a 'good on ya' and a pat on the back. It's almost a certainty Raanta will be patrolling the crease for Thursday's home game against Montreal.

Raanta did the rest, as the only goal he allowed was on the power play during a 17-shot second period. It's uncertain if he'll be taxed with starting Tuesday's game at San Jose or if the team will roll with Scott Wedgewood.
