Raanta wasn't the problem in this game, but his teammates' lackluster effort certainly was. The 26-year-old has a 4-1-0 record with a 1.36 goals-against-average and a .952 save percentage this season. The Rangers are on a season-long three-game losing streak. Nov 28 - 5:04 PM

Confirming an earlier report, Antti Raanta will be in goal for Saturday's game against the Flyers.

Steve Mason will get the start for the Flyers. Raanta has started and won four games for the Rangers. He last played on Wednesday, when he came on in relief for Henrik Lundqvist. The 26-year-old has a 1.20 goals-against-average and a .955 save percentage this season.
Nov 28 - 12:48 PM

With Henrik Lundqvist in net on Friday against Boston, Antti Raanta will get the nod Saturday afternoon against Philadelphia according to The King himself.

Hey even Kings need a rest now and then. Raanta meanwhile has been excellent thus far for the Rangers, stopping 107 of 112 shots in four starts and victories. Though rivalry games are typically different, and Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek are having nice seasons, the Flyers are last in the NHL in team shooting percentage at just 5.7%. Making Raanta a strong play if you're in need of a sneaky strong goalie start.
Nov 26 - 10:51 PM

Antti Raanta stopped 23 of 26 shots in Sunday's 4-3 win over Toronto.

The game was tied when Mats Zuccarello scored with under one minute left in the game to give the Rangers the win. Raanta gave up one goal in each period, but still managed to improve his record to 4-0-0. It's the first time all season that he gives up more than one goal in a game. Raanta has a 1.25 goals-against-average and a .955 save percentage. The Rangers have won nine consecutive games.
Nov 15 - 10:40 PM

Confirming an earlier item, Antti Raanta will indeed face the Maple Leafs on Sunday.

Three home starts, three wins, and just two goals against on 85 combined shots thus far. Raanta isn't quite this good, but until he shows signs of slowing down feel free to run the hot hand.
Nov 15 - 1:37 PM

Antti Raanta is likely to get the start in goal Sunday against Toronto.

The Rangers play twice on the weekend so it will not be a surprise to see both Raanta and Henrik Lundqvist go. Since Lundqvist is getting the start Saturday, it only makes sense that Raanta gets the call Sunday. Raanta has given up only two goals in three starts as he is 3-0 with a 0.67 GAA and a .976 save percentage.
Nov 14 - 6:50 AM

Antti Raanta lost his shutout bid with only five seconds to go as the New York Rangers defeated Arizona 4-1.

Raanta has been sensational this season as he has given up only two goals on 85 shots as he is now 3-0. His GAA actually went up to a gaudy 0.67 while his save percentage is now .976 down from .978. He gives the Rangers confidence that when Henrik Lundqvist is not in net, the team can still win.
Nov 7 - 11:47 PM

Antti Raanta is expected to get the start for the New York Rangers on Saturday.

The Rangers are in Phoenix to take on the Coyotes after they played in Denver on Friday with Henrik Lundqvist between the pipes. Raanta is 2-0 this season with a .50 GAA and a .978 save percentage as he has allowed only one goal this season on 45 shots.
Nov 7 - 8:26 AM

Antti Raanta backstopped the Rangers to a 4-1 win over the Flames Sunday night.

Raanta allowed only one goal on 23 shots. He has now allowed only one goal on 45 shots in his two starts of the season. He doesn’t hold much fantasy value as long as King Henrik is healthy.
Oct 25 - 9:43 PM

Antti Raanta will get the start in goal for the New York Rangers Sunday.

This is the second game this week that Raanta will get into as he shutout the San Jose Sharks on Monday, stopping 22 shots. It was his first game of the season therefore he is a perfect 1-0 with a zero goals-against-average and a 1.000 save percentage. He has nowhere to go but down.
Oct 25 - 9:57 AM

Goaltender Antti Raanta, making his first start with the New York Rangers, kicked away 22 shots to record an impressive 4-0 shutout over the visiting San Jose Sharks Monday night.

Raanta played in only 14 games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season but made a name for himself in the NHL with a 1.89 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage. With the Rangers, Raanta serves as the backup goalie to veteran all-star Henrik Lundqvist, who was between the pipes all four of the team's previous regular-season games. Lundqvist likely will return as starter when the Rangers play their next game Thursday night. After Monday night, however, there won't be any lack of confidence in the Rangers' organization when Raanta is called upon to give Lundqvist a respite. Raanta now has four career shutouts in 40 NHL games.
Oct 19 - 9:38 PM

Antti Raanta will be between the pipes for the Rangers Monday night against San Jose.

It will be his first game action of the season after Henrik Lundqvist started four straight contests. The Rangers don't play again until Thursday, so Lundqvist will get a good rest after Sunday's overtime loss to New Jersey.
Oct 19 - 11:24 AM

Antti Raanta could get his first start in a Rangers uniform on Sunday.

The Rangers also play four times next week so they have to get Raanta into a game sometime as the team cannot rely on Henrik Lundqvist to carry such a big load at the age of 33. Raanta played in 14 games with the Blackhawks last season and had superior peripherals as he had a 1.89 GAA and a .936 save percentage.
Oct 17 - 7:46 AM

Antti Raanta's name isn't on the Stanley Cup for Chicago's 2014-15 championship.

Raanta was a member of the Blackhawks last season, but he ultimately lost the backup job to Scott Darling. Chicago could have still petitioned to get his name on the Cup after Raanta played in 14 regular season games for the Blackhawks, but they apparently didn't. This comes after Raanta commented to a Finnish newspaper that he had rooted against the Blackhawks, although the interviewer said that the quote by itself lacked the proper context.
Sep 30 - 11:19 AM

Antti Raanta essentially has won the Rangers’ backup goalie job.

The team reassigned Magnus Hellberg to Hartford, leaving the Rangers with Raanta and Henrik Lundqvist. Raanta was expected to win the job when the Rangers acquired him in the offseason. He had a 1.89 goals-against average and .936 save percentage in 14 games with the Blackhawks last season.
