Trevor Linden has been awarded The Order of Canada.
It is the highest honor the government of Canada can award a citizen. "I think it's well deserved," said defenseman Kevin Bieksa. "He's been great for the city and for Canadian hockey. He's a well-respected guy and a great community leader. I'd be surprised if that's the last award Trevor gets. It seems like he's still as respected as ever even though he's been out of the game for a few years. He comes back for Markus Naslund's ceremony and gets a standing ovation so it just shows the kind of guy he is, and was." Congratulations to Linden on the honor. Fri, Dec 31, 2010 10:07:00 AM

"Trevor embodies the qualities we strive for as an organization; character, hard working, commitment, generous and loyal. We are proud that his sweater will hang beside Stan Smyl's at General Motors Place," said Chris Zimmerman, President and CEO of the Canucks.

Trevor Linden will announce his retirement on Wednesday.

Linden played 18 seasons in the NHL and was the head of the player's association when the NHL locked out the players for the entire 2004/05 season. Linden was a very good fantasy player early in his career with a 31 goal, 75 point season in 1991/92 as he added 101 penalty minutes and 33 goals and 80 points in the 1995/96 season. That was his final great season but he managed to stay a good third line player for most of his career. He leaves the game with 375 career goals and 867 points.

Trevor Linden is contemplating retirement.

This should come as no shock as the 38-year-old is just a fourth line player at best and was a healthy scratch for 23 games this past season. We wish Linden well with his future plans.

Trevor Linden may be playing in his last NHL game on Saturday against the Flames.

The 38-year-old pivot will likely retire, although he is not saying anything official on the subject at this time. If he does hang up his skates, Linden will be remembered as the face of the Vancouver franchise for the better part of the last decade and a half.

Trevor Linden scored two clutch goals within five minutes of each other to break a 2-2 tie and lead his Canucks to a 6-2 thrashing of the Flames.

The soon to be 38-year-old proved that he still has a little left in the tank and a flare for the dramatic, as he helped Vancouver jump back into eigth place in the Western Conference. He now has seven goals and 11 points in 56 games this season. Kevin Bieksa contributed three assists to the winning cause, while Henrik Sedin added two helpers of his own. Sami Salo, Markus Naslund, Matt Pettinger, and Brad Isbister also scored for Vancouver in the win.

That makes 15 times this season that Linden has been well enough to play but coach Alain Vigneault thought otherwise. His stellar NHL career is near an end. The 37-year-old has no fantasy value left in his aging body.

Trevor Linden was not a healthy scratch on Wednesday.

He replaced Mike Brown in the Vancouver lineup. He played 11:16 minutes with no stats. It was his 1,100 game as a Vancouver Canuck. He is not worth having in your fantasy lineup.

Trevor Linden will be a healthy scratch on Wednesday.

"I want to be a positive influence and one thing I promised myself is that I wasn't going to be pissed off or upset and become a distraction if I didn't play," Linden said, "I'm not going to walk around with my lip dragging on the ground because I'm not playing. I'm trying to be good in practice and positive around the guys with the belief that I can make a difference." The 37 year old has a goal and two assists in 18 games this season.

Trevor Linden has been a healthy scratch for the last two games and it is looking as though it will be a third time on Wednesday night.

"We have to look at our team identity right now," coach Alain Vigneault said. "We have one offensive line, we have a good checking line, we are getting some identity now on that fourth line as far as grit, grind and in-your-face-type hockey ... So that's where we are right now. Where does Trevor fit? If we want to be an in-your-face type team on a fourth line, Trevor doesn't fit there. We're in that little dilemma now."
