Rasmus Ristolainen netted a power-play goal in Monday's 5-4 shootout win against Ottawa.
He registered four shots in 25:24 of ice time. The goal was his first point in his past eight games and it was his first on the power play in his career. Ristolainen has very good potential, but right now he's not worth playing in fantasy hockey. He has five points and a minus-12 rating in 31 games. Dec 16 - 8:30 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen scored his first goal of the season just over a minute into the first period in a 6-3 loss to Minnesota.

He snapped a 13-game drought in opening periods for the Sabres and gave the club their first goal by a defenseman this year. Ristolainen has two points in 18 contests along with 26 hits and a minus-11 rating.

Rasmus Ristolainen reported to Sabres' camp in tremendous shape and seems poised to earn a roster spot in Buffalo.

He showed up 25 pounds lighter than he did last camp and looks faster and stronger than he did last season to Sabre coach Ted Nolan. "Rasmus is one of those kids that looks like he doesn't want to go anywhere but stay here in Buffalo," Nolan said. Ristolainen is in a battle with Nikita Zadorov, Andre Benoit, Mark Pysyk, Jake McCabe and Chad Ruhwedel for a couple of roster spots. We like his chances.

Highly regarded defencemen Rasmus Ristolainen and Mark Pysyk had a rough night Friday in the opening round of the AHL playoffs.

The two top Sabres' prospects were paired together and were minus two in the Rochester Amerks' 4-3 loss to Chicago. It was certainly a learning experience for Ristolainen and Pysyk, whom Sabre management hope will be ready to contribute at the NHL level next season.

Blueliner Rasmus Ristolainen scored the only Buffalo goal in Thursday's 6-1 loss at the hands of the Predators.

The young rearguard is teeming with promise, but he only managed to generate two points, both goals, in 25 games as a rookie. He's not fantasy worthy right now.

Rasmus Ristolainen has been called up by Buffalo.

He's back up with the Sabres for the third time this season. Tyler Myers was injured on Tuesday, so Ristolainen is back with Buffalo on an emergency basis.

The Buffalo Sabres have sent Rasmus Ristolainen to AHL Rochester.

Ristolainen was summoned on an emergency basis because Tyler Myers was sidelined, but Myers is ready to rejoin the Sabres. Ristolainen has a goal in 24 games with Buffalo in 2013-14.

Rasmus Ristolainen has been called up by Buffalo.

He's back up with the Sabres on an emergency basis because of injuries. Alexander Sulzer (upper body) and Tyler Myers (elbow) are out and Mike Weber isn't 100 percent either. Ristolainen started the season in Buffalo, but he's been in the minors since mid-November.

Rasmus Ristolainen will return to the AHL now that the World Junior Championships are over.

Ristolainen netted the game-winning goal in overtime against Sweden to give Finland the gold medal at the tournament. He had three goals in five games. He won the award for the best defenseman at the 2014 World Juniors.
Jan 6 - 2:23 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen scored an overtime game-winning goal to win gold for Finland over Sweden in the 2014 World Junior Championships.

The Buffalo Sabres first-rounder gains an unforgettable experience and a little more exposure to top-level competition. It was a strong tournament for Sabres prospects, as Nikita Zadorov had a nice tournament, too.
Jan 5 - 3:54 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen has been named to Finland's World Junior Championship team.

He suffered a concussion last week, while playing for AHL Rochester, but he's expected to play in tournament. Ristolainen had two goals and two assists in five minor-league contests prior to getting hurt.

Rasmus Ristolainen might have sustained a concussion while playing with AHL Rochester.

Ristolainen was punched by Mitchell Heard and Rochester subsequently listed him out for at least three games with an "upper body injury." Ristolainen was taken with the eighth overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Before being sent to the minors, he had a goal in 19 games with Buffalo.

Rasmus Ristolainen has been sent to the minors.

Ristolainen has a goal in 19 games this season. He's just 19 years old, but unlike many players his age, he's eligible to report to the AHL because he came from SM-liiga and not a Canadian major junior league.

Rookie defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen scored his first NHL goal in the Sabres' 3-1 over the Panthers Friday night.

It was an important goal too as it tied the game 1-1 in the second period after the Sabres were badly outplayed to that point in the contest. "It feels great," Ristolainen said of the goal. "It was a significant goal for us. We tied the game. The guys were good in front of the net, so the goalie didn't see anything." Keep an eye on Ristolainen. He may not be roster worthy this season but we certainly see how he can be a productive two-way rearguard in years to come.

Rasmus Ristolainen was a healthy scratch Wednesday.

He was brought back up from the minors earlier this week, but didn't play any games with Rochester. Jamie McBain was also a healthy scratch in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to Boston. Ristolainen still has some value in keeper formats, but he shouldn't be on your radar in standard leagues.
