Rasmus Ristolainen will face a hearing Thursday afternoon for his interference hit on Pittsburgh's Jake Guentzel.

He was ejected from Tuesday night's game as a result of the incident. Guentzel suffered a concussion on the play and it was a hit on a player who didn't have the puck, which are both factors that will probably work against Ristolainen.
Mar 22 - 2:34 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen may hear from the league after he concussed Pittsburgh's Jake Guentzel on Tuesday night.

He received five minutes for interference and a game misconduct at the 8:46 mark of the first period after he hit an unsuspecting Guentzel. There could be some supplemental discipline coming as well.
Mar 22 - 10:05 AM

Buffalo defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen produced his NHL-leading 24th power-play assist during the Sabres' 2-1 victory over the Red Wings in Detroit Monday night.

Ristolainen assisted on Jack Eichel's PP goal in the first period. Both Buffalo goals were on power plays. The Sabres also killed four penalties against the Wings.
Mar 20 - 11:07 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen scored in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Sabres went into the third period trailing 3-2, but Ristolainen was able to tie it up at the 5:57 mark of final frame. Unfortunately for Buffalo, they gave up a late goal to Boone Jenner. Ristolainen finished the game with a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in 23:13 of ice time. He has five goals and 36 assists in 68 games.
Mar 10 - 10:30 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen is on a five-game point streak.

Ristolainen has also recorded a point in seven of his last eight contests. He has four goals and 36 points in 60 contests, which puts him just five points shy of his career-high.
Feb 20 - 8:16 AM

With his assist Saturday against St. Louis, Rasmus Ristolainen became the third youngest Buffalo defenseman to register 100 career NHL points.

At 22 years and 114 days he ranks behind only Hall of Famer Phil Housley (19 years and 273 days) and Tyler Myers (22 years and 16 days). Ristolainen has been one of the NHL's best young fantasy defensemen for almost two seasons yet few have noticed.
Feb 19 - 9:02 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen collected his 100th career point during Saturday's 3-2 win over the Blues.

The marker came as a power play assist, his 20th of the season thus far. Through 59 games he has four goals and 35 points, and he needs just seven points to reach a new career high.
Feb 18 - 4:28 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen potted a goal in a 5-2 loss to Anaheim on Thursday night.

It was his fourth marker of the year and his first since Dec. 20. Ristolainen has contributed three points in the last four games to give him a total of 31 in 54 matches.
Feb 10 - 8:28 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen played 35:24 in Friday's OT win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Ristolainen was forced to play those extra minutes because Jake McCabe was injured early in the first period. "He's so poised, makes good hard plays," teammate Justin Falk said of Ristolainen. "He knows when to be simple and when to make the pass as well." Ristolainen finished the game with one assist, a plus-1 rating, three shots on goal, three hits and six blocked shots. We'll see what he has left in the tank for Saturday's game at Montreal.
Jan 21 - 12:12 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen added another assist to his impressive total during Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Bruins.

The marker gives him 22 assists and 25 points this season, and 90 points for his career. That 42-point plateau he hit last season seems sure to fall some time in February.

Rasmus Ristolainen notched a goal and an assist in Buffalo's 4-3 shootout loss to Florida on Tuesday night.

He registered his 13th power-play point of the season with an assist on goal by Sam Reinhart. Ristolainen's third goal of the year gave the Sabres a 3-2 lead in the third period, but the Panthers tied it shortly afterward and won easily in the shootout. The Buffalo defender has been red hot lately. He has been held off the score sheet just twice in the last 10 matches and he has five multi-point efforts over that time.

Rasmus Ristolainen hasn't been a plus/minus burden to fantasy owners this season like he's traditionally been.

Ristolainen had a minus-68 rating in 194 career games going into the 2016-17 campaign. However, he's a more respectable minus-one in 30 contests this season, which means that his two goals and 21 points haven't come with a significant drawback. Part of that improved plus/minus is due to the Sabres getting better as a team, but the 22-year-old blueliner has also played a big role defensively. "Our shutdown guy," Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said. "He’s a horse back there. We’re talking about how he plays and how tough he is to play against."

Rasmus Ristolainen scored a goal and an assist in Friday's 3-2 OT win over the New York Islanders.

Ristolainen picked up the primary assist on Johan Larsson's goal in the second period that tied the game at one. The Sabres defenseman also added the overtime winner just 42 seconds into the extra frame. The 22-year-old now has two goals and 21 points in 29 games this season. He's worth owning in all standard fantasy leagues.

Rasmus Ristolainen stretched his point streak to four games Tuesday night.

He recorded two helpers against Los Angeles in a 6-3 Buffalo victory. Ristolainen got off to a sluggish start, but now he has eight points in his last six outings and seven points during his current scoring spree.
