Rasmus Ristolainen (flu) returned to action on Friday.

It was a big return to the ice for Ristolainen who set up all three goals for the Sabres on Friday. The big three assist night gives him 20 points on the season, including eight goals. If the Sabres ever turn things around in the standings in the next few years, Ristolainen will be in the middle of things as the defenseman was selected eighth overall in the 2013 draft.
Apr 4 - 2:02 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen (flu) has been ruled out for Wednesday night’s game against the Maple Leafs.

The former eighth overall pick in the 2013 draft has been dealing with the flu and will not be able to suit up for Wednesday’s game versus Toronto. In 73 games this year, Ristolainen has scored eight goals and nine assists from the blue line this year. Not too bad for 20-year-old. Tyson Strachan will take his spot on the blue line Wednesday.
Apr 1 - 7:37 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen is questionable to play Wednesday because of the flu.

Coach Ted Nolan doesn't think Ristolainen will be available to play. He has been playing well of late with four points and a plus-6 rating in his last three games.
Apr 1 - 12:04 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen potted a goal in Monday's 4-1 win over Arizona.

He scored into an empty net to give him goals in three consecutive contests. He also added an assist in Saturday's game versus Colorado. The 20-year-old defenseman has 17 points in 73 games this season.
Mar 31 - 10:45 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen scored a power play goal for the Sabres in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout win over Boston.

Ristolainen's fifth goal of the season was his 13th point of the year. The eighth overall pick from the 2013 draft should still have a bright future, but his meager point total and minus-33 rating make him unusable in fantasy leagues this season.
Mar 17 - 10:43 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen suited up in his 100th NHL game Monday night.

He picked up a power-play assist on a goal by Tyler Ennis to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead. Buffalo ended up losing the game 4-3 in a shootout to the Washington Capitals. The 20-year-old blueliner has 12 points, 105 hits and 111 blocks in 66 games this season.
Mar 17 - 8:45 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen scored his fourth goal of season Thursday night, but the Sabres fell to the Oilers 3-2.

It was a solid effort and goal by Ristolainen as he followed up the rush as the third-man in to finish off the play late in the third period. The young defender finished with three shots, two hits, and a block through 16:32 of ice time. He now has four goals and nine points through 46 games.
Jan 30 - 1:34 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen will be a healthy scratch Sunday night against the Red Wings.

Coach Nolan just wants the young defender to "clear his head" and that this benching is "in no way punishment." If true, that's fine coaching right there. Risto has produced eight points, 18 PIMs, 66 hits and 70 blocks through 44 games this season.
Jan 18 - 7:32 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen is ready to return to Buffalo's lineup from the flu.

He missed two games due to the illness, but should be back in the lineup on Friday against Florida. Mark Pysyk has been returned to AHL Rochester to make room for him.
Jan 1 - 5:09 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen (flu) isn't expected to play Wednesday.

He didn't practice Tuesday and missed Monday's game because of the flu. Ristolainen has contributed seven points and he's averaged 20:05 of ice time per game in 2014-15.

Rasmus Ristolainen left Saturday night's game against the Islanders due to the flu.

He fell ill early in the second period. The Sabres are hoping that their young defenseman does not test positive for the mumps. Even if Ristolainen is suffering only from the flu, the Sabres will likely call up a rearguard from Rochester prior to Monday's game against Ottawa. Consider Ristolainen day-to-day for now.

Sat, Dec 27, 2014 09:03:00 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen netted a power-play goal in Monday's 5-4 shootout win against Ottawa.

He registered four shots in 25:24 of ice time. The goal was his first point in his past eight games and it was his first on the power play in his career. Ristolainen has very good potential, but right now he's not worth playing in fantasy hockey. He has five points and a minus-12 rating in 31 games.
