The 21-year-old now has five points in his last three games and 10 goals in 16 games this season. The 6'4 Finn is already halfway into his 2014-15 point total after just 16 games, and projects to be a solid pickup in fantasy while his streak persists, with the exception of plus/minus.

Oct 30 - 8:08 AM

Don't sleep on Sabres 20-year-old Finnish rearguard, Rasmus Ristolainen.

The 8th overall pick in 2013 ranked 13th in the NHL with an average ice time of 24:38 per game entering Wednesday's games, while contributing three points in five games (1-2-3) and 16 shots on goal. The 6-foot-4 blueliner is gaining prominence and playing in every situation. Put the age factor aside, the pace may not be sustainable, but the upside here is tremendous.
Oct 21 - 6:49 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen picked up a goal and an assist Monday in a 4-2 win over Columbus.

He gave the Sabres a 1-0 lead when he fired a power-play goal behind Blue Jackets netminder Sergei Bobrovksy 2:33 into the second period. Ristolainen also earned an assist on a power-play tally by Matt Moulson in the third for his first points in three games this season.
Oct 12 - 6:06 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen will make his preseason debut Tuesday night against Toronto.

He took part in his first practice of training camp on Monday after recovering from an upper-body injury. Ristolainen posted eight goals and 20 points in 78 games last season. The 20-year-old defenseman has plenty of potential and he's expected to improve in 2015-16.
Sep 29 - 6:47 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body) skated with his teammates for the first time at training camp on Monday.

"His upper body injury didn't preclude him from skating," coach Dan Bylsma said. "He hasn't had the contact and the physical contact until two days ago and today. He should have done quite a bit of skating, he's got some conditioning in. You want to see him play somewhere in that 18-20 minute range for this game. Plan on getting him in another two of the next three." Ristolainen will probably be in the lineup on Tuesday against Toronto.
Sep 28 - 3:18 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body) is getting closer to getting back on the ice for practice.

"He is able to get on the ice and do some conditioning," coach Dan Bylsma said. "He's still another probably five days away from getting in a game and practice." Ristolainen has been limited at training camp due to an upper-body injury.
Sep 25 - 9:55 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen is dealing with an upper-body injury.

The Sabres expect him to miss the first seven-to-10 days of training camp as a result. He had eight goals and 20 points in 78 games with Buffalo in 2014-15.
Sep 18 - 12:15 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen has registered nine points, included four goals, in his past 11 games.

"It feels good," Ristolainen said Wednesday. "I've been working hard. It's nice to get some points and some goals lately." Four of those points have come on the power play. The 20-year-old defenseman has a chance to end the season on a high note, as he now has 20 points in 76 matches.
Apr 9 - 8:43 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen (flu) returned to action on Friday.

It was a big return to the ice for Ristolainen who set up all three goals for the Sabres on Friday. The big three assist night gives him 20 points on the season, including eight goals. If the Sabres ever turn things around in the standings in the next few years, Ristolainen will be in the middle of things as the defenseman was selected eighth overall in the 2013 draft.
Apr 4 - 2:02 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen (flu) has been ruled out for Wednesday night’s game against the Maple Leafs.

The former eighth overall pick in the 2013 draft has been dealing with the flu and will not be able to suit up for Wednesday’s game versus Toronto. In 73 games this year, Ristolainen has scored eight goals and nine assists from the blue line this year. Not too bad for 20-year-old. Tyson Strachan will take his spot on the blue line Wednesday.
Apr 1 - 7:37 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen is questionable to play Wednesday because of the flu.

Coach Ted Nolan doesn't think Ristolainen will be available to play. He has been playing well of late with four points and a plus-6 rating in his last three games.
