Coach Phil Housley said the defenseman is still considered day-to-day.
Nov 7 - 9:13 AM

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that Rasmus Ristolainen has an upper-body injury.

His status is being listed as day-to-day, and he won't play tonight against the Stars. He has five points in 13 games this season but is worth holding onto because of his huge offensive upside.
Nov 4 - 1:25 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen did not hit the ice with his teammates for their morning skate ahead of their matchup with the Dallas Stars tonight.

Ristolainen was spotted speaking to the trainers after Thursday's game against the Arizona Coyotes. It's unclear what type of injury he is dealing with at the moment and we will likely know more when Phil Housley speaks to the media later today.
Nov 4 - 12:40 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen has chipped in three assists and has a minus-5 rating in seven games this season.

"I've just got to get better," Ristolainen said Thursday. "That's it. I don't think I find one area that's been good all the time, but it's just all-around. I've got to just be better everywhere." Coach Phil Housley likes the defenseman's compete level, but he would like to see him make "more puck decisions, doing things a little faster, getting back harder on the breakout, working for his partner a little bit better, getting shots off quicker in the offensive zone."
Oct 20 - 8:55 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen registered an assist in the Sabres' 6-3 loss to the Islanders Saturday night.

It was Ristolainen's first point in two games this season. He's surpassed the 40-point mark in each of his previous two campaigns and he's a decent bet to do that again in 2017-18.
Oct 8 - 5:38 AM

Coach Phil Housley wants to keep Rasmus Ristolainen's ice time to around 22-23 minutes per game.

"Over the long haul, he'll be fresh in February and hopefully we'll be in a position where we need that energy," Housley said. "There's going to be that odd time where they're going to play high minutes. They're minute munchers. To keep them fresh in the system and the style we want to play, we want to keep those minutes comfortable." Ristolainen finished fifth overall last year in average ice time per game (26:28).
Oct 2 - 10:17 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen recorded his sixth goal of the season on Wednesday night.

He opened the scoring 6:01 into the first period in a 2-1 win over Montreal. Ristolainen has produced 45 points in 77 games this season after he earned 41 during the 2015-16 campaign.
Apr 6 - 8:13 AM

Rasmus Ristolainen is anxious to get back in the lineup on Sunday.

He admitted that he didn't watch much of Buffalo's games during his three-game suspension and worked out most of the time instead. "I don't like resting, but obviously I can't say it didn't feel good," Ristolainen said. "I got some good sleep, a couple days off so I feel really fresh right now."
Apr 2 - 8:42 AM

Mar 23 - 4:22 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen will face a hearing Thursday afternoon for his interference hit on Pittsburgh's Jake Guentzel.

He was ejected from Tuesday night's game as a result of the incident. Guentzel suffered a concussion on the play and it was a hit on a player who didn't have the puck, which are both factors that will probably work against Ristolainen.
Mar 22 - 2:34 PM

Rasmus Ristolainen may hear from the league after he concussed Pittsburgh's Jake Guentzel on Tuesday night.

He received five minutes for interference and a game misconduct at the 8:46 mark of the first period after he hit an unsuspecting Guentzel. There could be some supplemental discipline coming as well.
