Hartman's third period heroics amounted to the first hat trick of his career and a big victory for the Hawks over a division rival, thanks to two empty netters. Hartman now has 10 goals and 17 points through 38 games this season, and the Hawks have won three straight. Patrick Kane pitched in three assists in the victory.

Hartman didn't get a point on Anisimov's marker, but his efforts helped lead to the go-ahead goal. "He had a great game," coach Joel Quenneville said of Hartman. "He was very noticeable, had some physical hits in all zones and had a good purpose to his game and was dangerous. Great play coming out of the penalty box in sustaining that puck."

Chicago coach Joel Quenneville likes what Ryan Hartman brings to the table.

"He's willing to be scrappy at the net and in puck areas. When he's out there, you respect that and your opponents are aware of him as well," said Quenneville. "But you're not out there with a free pass to take penalties. He gets to the net, he has quick hands and can make and see plays." Hartman has taken just one penalty (two minutes) in 19 games this season, which shows he can play a disciplined game. He has also posted five goals and one assist.

That's quite the demotion for Hartman, as he started the last game on Chicago's top line with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. He has two goals and one assist in 12 games this season. Michael Rozsival will also watch the game from the press box tonight.

Hartman will sit for the second consecutive night, as he was also scratched in Sunday's game against the Kings. The 22-year-old has one goal and one assist in six games this season. Michal Kempny will also watch the game from the press box.

Through 14 games in his NHL career, including six this season, Hartman has posted just three points. Until he starts producing more regularly, we'd pass on the youngster.
