Patrik Bartosak stopped 31 of 32 shots to lead the Manchester Monarchs to the Calder Cup Saturday.
The Kings farm team won the AHL title in five games as Bartosak won the final two games after regular goaltender Jean-Francois Berube was injured 7:51 into Game 3 and was unable to continue the rest of the series. Bartosak, the nephew of Radek Bonk who played 14 seasons in the NHL, stopped 80 of 86 shots in the final two-plus games of the Final and could see more AHL action next season as he played in 28 regular season games with a 13-8-5 record to go with a 2.14 GAA and a .919 save percentage. The Kings selected goaltender Patrik Bartosak in the fifth round of the NHL entry draft.

Bartosak, posted solid numbers with the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL this past season (2.26 GAA, .935 SP, 33-14-5 record) but that is not why his selection is newsworthy. It is more because his uncle is former NHL player Radek Bonk.
