Nic Petan has been sent to the AHL's Manitoba Moose.
Petan has a goal in 14 games this season. He has a ton of potential, but the Jets were only providing him with 9:31 minutes of ice time per contest. With that in mind, this demotion is probably in his best interests. Nov 19 - 11:55 AM

Nic Petan skated with Adam Lowry and Drew Stafford in the third period of Sunday's loss to Montreal.

That bumped Alexander Burmistrov to the fourth line where he served as the combination's center. Burmistrov will probably rejoin his regular linemates on Wednesday against Toronto, but Petan could be an option in other games to be promoted when the Jets are looking for more of an offensive presence.
Nov 3 - 9:33 AM

Nic Petan will skate on the fourth line in Sunday's tilt with Montreal.

Petan has averaged just 9:34 of playing time through seven games thus far, and he's barely hit the score sheet. We'd wait for his talent to begin to emerge before picking him up.

Petan has averaged just 9:34 of playing time through seven games thus far, and he's barely hit the score sheet. The kid is talent, there is no doubt, but he hasn't quite figured out the big boy's league just yet. Anthony Peluso will skate in his place.

Nic Petan will start the 2015-16 season with the Winnipeg Jets.

He's projected to start on the fourth line, but that doesn't bother him. "I think right now I'm happy with what I've got," said the 20-year-old forward. "I think I could get a little bit of power-play time, so that helps out with some touches on the ice. I'm excited to get that game going." His NHL debut could come Thursday night against Boston.

Nic Petan is still in Winnipeg's camp after 16 players were trimmed from the roster on Monday.

JC Lipon and Thomas Raffl are also still with the big club as bubble forwards. They are battling for one spot on the team. However, it would probably be better for Petan's development to play a larger role in the minors than seeing limited NHL minutes.
Sep 29 - 9:51 AM

As Nic Petan hopes to make the Winnipeg Jets, he believes he's really improved his defense to make that happen.

"This past season I just focused on defensive play, faceoffs, being low in my own zone. I thought I got better at it," Petan said. The 20-year-old had 15 goals and 89 points in 54 WHL contests in 2014-15, which is actually down from 113 points in his previous campaign. The 43rd pick of the 2013 NHL Draft will probably get a decent shot next season.
