The Pittsburgh Penguins weren't comfortable with the idea of having Tristan Jarry serve as Marc-Andre Fleury's backup because they want the youngster to play regularly.
With Matt Murray on the shelf, it appeared as though Jarry would open the season as the team's backup goalie. When the team claimed Mike Condon on waivers from Montreal, they sent Jarry back to the farm. "We've had lengthy discussions about how we're going to handle this situation coming out of training camp, and we think it's in Tristan's best interest that he plays," coach Mike Sullivan said. "We're ecstatic with the training camp that he had. He played extremely well in the opportunities that he's been given. We're thrilled with the progress that he's made. Oct 11 - 7:14 PM

Tristan Jarry has been sent down by Pittsburgh.

He will get more playing in the minors than being the Penguins' backup goaltender. Pittsburgh claimed Mike Condon off waivers Tuesday, so that Jarry could start the 2016-17 campaign with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

If Matt Murray (thumb) isn't ready for the regular season, then it looks like Tristan Jarry will be the Penguins' temporary backup goaltender.

Jarry was competing for that role with Casey DeSmith and Leland Irving, but the latter two were sent to the minors on Monday, so it seems like that battle has been decided. Jarry posted a 2.69 GAA and .905 save percentage in 33 AHL contests in 2015-16.
Oct 4 - 5:52 AM

Tristan Jarry made 24 saves for the shutout in Sunday's 2-0 win over Columbus in pre-season action.

Jarry is playing extremely well in the pre-season and might draw into a regular season game while Matt Murray recovers from an injury for the first few weeks of the season. The 21-year-old should take the reigns in the AHL this season.
Oct 3 - 12:21 AM

Tristan Jarry stopped 30 shots in Pittsburgh's 2-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.

It was a solid performance from Jarry, but the Blackhawks didn't exactly dress their best lineup. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Marian Hossa, Marcus Kruger and Corey Crawford didn't hit the ice. It's still a nice result for the young goalie. With Matt Murray injured, Jarry might make the Penguins' opening game roster as the backup goalie.
Sep 28 - 11:44 PM

Tristan Jarry has been returned to the minors.

He was the backup goalie for the Penguins in Games 1 and 2, but he didn't see any playing time. Pittsburgh got Matt Murray back from injury on Tuesday, so Jarry will return to the AHL and help Wilkes-Barre Scranton in the playoffs.
Apr 20 - 12:11 PM

The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled Tristan Jarry from the AHL.

This is not a good sign. Matt Murray left yesterday's game against Philadelphia after being bumped in the head by Flyers forward Brayden Schenn. The Pens didn't provide a detailed update on Murray's status after the game. Pittsburgh is already without starter Marc-Andre Fleury. They could be forced to open the playoffs with Jeff Zatkoff and Jarry in goal.
Apr 10 - 4:10 PM

The Penguins have lost minor league goaltender Tristan Jarry to injury.

The Baby Pens goalie will not be able to play this weekend as he has a lower body injury. Jarry made 22 saves on Saturday for his first AHL shutout. He is highly regarded and with Matt Murray, the duo are the best young goalies outside the NHL at this time.

Tristan Jarry picked up his first AHL shutout on Saturday.

Jarry made 22 saves. Jarry is now 7-1 with a 1.70 GAA and a .934 save percentage. The former second round pick is behind Matt Murray on the goaltending charts but that's not a bad thing as the Penguins are loaded in net.

Penguins prospect Tristan Jarry made 27 saves for the Edmonton Oil Kings in their 5-2 loss to the Guelph Storm at the Memorial Cup.

Pittsburgh selected him in the second round of the 2013 draft. Jarry had a 2.24 goals-against average and .914 save percentage during the regular season, with a .925 save percentage in the postseason.

Tristan Jarry has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jarry posted a 1.61 GAA and .936 save percentage in 27 WHL contests in 2012-13. He was selected with the 44th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Pittsburgh took goaltender Tristan Jarry with their first pick, 44th overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft Sunday.

The Penguins entered the draft without a pick in the first two rounds, but a couple of trades gave them their first selection in Round 2. Pittsburgh got the 50th overall selection from San Jose for Tyler Kennedy and they sent that pick, along with 89th choice, to Columbus for No. 44. "I want to push for a job, just like he's pushing for his own job," Jarry said referring to Marc-Andre Fleury. "I think that's great, the healthy competition with one another. It's just whatever you've got to do to get the job you've got to do." In 27 games with the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings last season, Jarry posted an 18-7-0 record with a .936 save percentage and a 1.61 GAA. Jarry is highly unlikely to be in the running for a roster spot next season.
