Steven Santini scored his first NHL goal in New Jersey's 3-2 overtime loss to Edmonton on Thursday.

It was an odd goal for a moment like that though as the puck deflected off Santini's elbow after being fired by teammate Taylor Hall. "It’s not exactly how you envision your first goal, I guess," said Santini. "It was a good play by Hallsie and P.A. (Parenteau) so I was just at the right place at the right time." He has three points in six games with the Devils this season.

Steven Santini got his first NHL point in his second career game on Monday.

Santini assisted on PA Parenteau's goal. "It was pretty cool," Santini said. "I don’t really know how to explain other than it was pretty cool. It was pretty awesome." He also logged 11:53 minutes of ice time and was paired with Jon Merrill.

The Devils recalled Steven Santini from AHL Albany on Sunday.

The 21-year-old is still waiting to make his season debut up with the big boys. With Albany however he's played 15 games with no points and 25 PIMs.

Steven Santini will stay in the minors through the weekend at the least.

Santini hasn't played with New Jersey yet this season, but he's spent most of the campaign thus far in the NHL. That being said, he was briefly sent to the AHL on Sunday so that he could get into a minor league game. When he was reassigned again on Wednesday, the question then became if this was another short-term AHL stint and the jury still seems to be out on that.

Steven Santini has been assigned to AHL Albany.

Santini spent Tuesday's contest in the press box. He's yet to play with the Devils in 2016-17, but he was briefly sent to the AHL recently to appear in a game with Albany. The question now is if this is another brief AHL stint for the sake of getting him a bit of work or if he'll stay in the minors for a prolonged period of time.

Steve Santini will be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against Arizona.

Santini still hasn't played a game in the NHL this season, but played one in the AHL. Santini was a point producer in the college ranks, but will likely need more time to develop at the NHL level. Jacob Josefson will also watch the game from the press box.

Steven Santini might end up with more very brief stints in the AHL.

Santini was sent to the minors on Sunday so he could participate in Albany's 4-3 overtime victory and then summoned on Monday. It remains to be seen if New Jersey will use him on Tuesday, but if not he could return to Albany for Wednesday's AHL contest. We'll see if that becomes a pattern, but it would allow Santini to get in some extra work while continuing to at least practice with New Jersey even when he's not playing much.

The New Jersey Devils have assigned Steven Santini to AHL Albany.

Santini had two blocks, two PIMs, and a shot on net in his NHL debut, but clearly has not been able to work his way on to the Devils' blue line. He does not project to be much of a fantasy asset moving forward.

Steven Santini is looking to stick with the New Jersey Devils during his first full pro season.

Santini played in one game with the Devils near the end of last season, after spending the previous three years at Boston College. It won't be easy for him to stick in the NHL this year, but Santini isn't focusing on that. "I don't think you can really look into that kind of stuff, at least I don't," Santini said of the limited number of openings on New Jersey's roster. "I just try to have good practice habits, good off-ice workouts and all that stuff, and focus on my recovery, because that's all I can really control. The numbers and the personnel are all out of my control, so I don't really worry about that."

Devils prospect Steven Santini will be spending at least one more season at Boston College.

Santini was the team’s 42nd overall pick from the 2013 draft. The defenseman, a rising junior, had five points in 22 games in a season that saw him miss time because of a wrist injury. "Obviously, last year was kind of a disappointing season just in terms of my injury," Santini said. "I think it's good for me to work one more year towards my education. Another year of experience before I make the jump to pro hockey."
