Oct 21 - 12:27 PM

Rob O'Gara has been sent to the minors.

O'Gara came up short in his quest to claim a roster spot out of training camp, so he'll start the year with Providence. Boston also put Torey Krug and Austin Czarnik on injured reserve.
Oct 4 - 7:45 AM

Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy has liked what he's seen from Rob O'Gara.

O'Gara wasn't originally projected to make Boston's opening game roster, but there's a chance of him making the squad due to Torey Krug's absence with a jaw injury. "(O’Gara) has been steady," said Cassidy. "He doesn’t play the same style as Torey, so it’s not an equal replacement, but I think he’s done a good job when he’s been in there. So that’s one to watch." O'Gara had four goals and 13 points in 59 AHL contests last season, so you shouldn't expect him to make the same offensive impact as Krug.
Sep 24 - 4:10 AM

Rob O'Gara has been assigned to the minors.

O'Gara made his NHL debut in Boston's season opener and he played three games with the big club while Adam McQuaid recovered from an upper-body injury. McQuaid will be back on Tuesday, so O'Gara will have to wait for another NHL opportunity.

Rob O'Gara has his eyes set on making the Bruins out of training camp.

O'Gara spent the last four years at Yale University before playing five games with the Providence Bruins (AHL) at the end of last season. The 23-year-old will likely spend his first full pro season in AHL, but that doesn't mean he can't aim higher. "My mindset coming in is to try and earn a spot," said O’Gara. "I’m going to do whatever they say, try to work as hard as I can and try to earn that."

Rob O'Gara has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with Boston.

The deal will begin with the 2016-17 season, so he will join the AHL's Providence Bruins on an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of the season. O'Gara produced 12 points in 30 games with Yale University this year. He was a fifth-round pick of the Bruins in 2011.

Rob O'Gara is on the right path to eventually break into the NHL.

O'Gara has spent the last two seasons at Yale University after being selected by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-4 blueliner had 11 points and 30 penalty minutes in 33 NCAA games last season. "If you've watched him play over the course of his two seasons at Yale," said Bruins assistant GM Don Sweeney, "and realize how much he plays and the situations he plays in — and part of the national championship team as a freshman — I think you quickly understand that he has a lot of good tools, a lot of things that we are very, very excited about as a National Hockey League defenseman."

Rob O'Gara has impressed the Boston Bruins.

"I like Robbie’s game," Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said. "He’s getting stronger. He’s getting stronger and more confident. I saw him play a few times last year and he’s improving. That run he had to the championship will help him. He sees the ice well, good range." O'Gara completed his first season with Yale in 2012-13. He was taken in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
