Kristers Gudlevskis could end up as trade bait now that the Lightning have signed Andrei Vasilevskiy to an entry-level deal.
Tampa Bay may retain Anders Lindback to back up Ben Bishop and have Vasilevskiy see the bulk of the action in the AHL with Syracuse. If the Bolts' NCAA prospect Adam Wilcox turns pro then it could increase the likelihood of Gudlevskis getting shipped out of the organization. May 12 - 7:27 AM

Kristers Gudlevskis did all he could to save Tampa Bay's season, saving 16 of 17 in 34 minutes of action, but ultimately let through the game-winning goal that eliminated the Bolts from the post-season.

Another poor start from Anders Lindback made the Bolts turn to the 21 year old rookie midway through the second period, trailing 3-1. Gudlevskis answered the call, stopping the first 16 shots he faced as Tampa tied the game at three. A last minute power play for Montreal however turned out to be the difference, as Max Pacioretty shovelled the winning goal through the five-hole with 43 seconds remaining. The Habs swept the best of seven series four games to none.

Kristers Gudlevskis backstopped the Tampa Bay Lightning to a big win over Columbus in his first NHL start by a score of 3-2 on Friday night.

The 21 year old Latvian, who made headlines after leading Latvia to a near-upset over Steve Yzerman's Team Canada in the Olympic quarterfinals, allowed his GM to enjoy his heroics instead of envy them on Friday night. Gudlevskis made 36 saves on 38 shots, and considering the struggles of Anders Lindback, might have earned himself another start while Ben Bishop recovers from a shoulder injury. The Bolts moved one point ahead of Montreal with one game remaining in the battle for home-ice advantage.

Mar 3 - 3:33 PM

Kristers Gudlevskis may get an opportunity to start for the Lightning this weekend.

"Would it be kind of cool for him to have on his resume he played in the East Coast, the American league, Olympics and NHL in one season? Yes," coach Jon Cooper said. "But you don't play players because of that. They have to earn the right to get in there. In saying that, he's slowly earning his right to get in there. The fact he's here is telling you we'd have no problem putting him in net." Tampa Bay plays in Dallas on Saturday afternoon and at Colorado on Sunday night.
Mar 1 - 1:30 PM

Kristers Gudlevskis is going to stick with the Lightning just in case Anders Lindback isn't ready to return from an ankle injury.

Gudlevskis is expected to return to the minors once Lindback is healthy and he'll probably be in the AHL next year as well. He created plenty of buzz for his all-world performance against Canada in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but he still needs time to develop.

Kristers Gudlevskis was sensational in Wednesday's quarterfinal loss to Canada.

He blocked 55 of 57 shots in a 2-1 defeat to the heavily favored Canadians Gudlevskis nearly stole the game for Latvia, but he couldn't hold off Canada's relentless attack all night. Edgars Masalskis was rested after he guided Latvia into the quarterfinals with a 3-1 win against Switzerland on Tuesday and the move almost paid off.
Feb 19 - 3:12 PM

Kristers Gudlevskis gave up all five goals on 30 shots as Latvia dropped a 5-3 decision to Sweden Saturday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect had four power play goals scored against him as the Latvians were playing with fire every time they took a penalty. Look for Edgars Masalskis to play next game as he was outstanding in Latvia's two earlier losses.

Edgar Masalskis is a two-time Olympian, but Gudlevskis played well in four games at last year's World Hockey Championships and he's been solid in the AHL as well.
