The New York Islanders have signed Kristers Gudlevskis to a one-year, two-way contract.

He'll make $650,000 in the NHL or $200,000 in the AHL. The Isles acquired Gudlevskis from the Tampa Bay Lightning on July 1st. The 24-year-old saw just 11 minutes of action in the NHL during the 2016-17 season, but he allowed three goals during that outing. He's expected to start next season in the minors.

The Islanders have acquired Kristers Gudlevskis from the Lightning for Carter Verhaeghe.

This is not an earth-shattering deal from a fantasy perspective. Gudlevskis will likely start the 2017-18 season in the minors. Needless to say, he will have no fantasy value.
Jul 1 - 1:26 PM

Kristers Gudlevskis might be looking for another organization next season.

Gudlevskis will be a restricted free agent this summer and the Lightning may allow him to walk, while re-signing Mike McKenna instead. McKenna has played well for the Syracuse Crunch during the team's run to the Calder Cup Final and could be paired with Tampa Bay prospect Connor Ingram in 2017-18 at the AHL level.

Kristers Gudlevskis has been returned to the minors.

His demotion could indicate that Ben Bishop will be back in the lineup Thursday.
Jan 10 - 4:55 PM

Kristers Gudlevskis has been called up by Tampa Bay.

He saw just 11:27 of ice time against Washington on Dec. 23 and he stopped all three shots he faced in a relief appearance during his last NHL recall. Gudlevskis has two NHL starts in his career and another could be coming with Andrei Vasilevskiy struggling lately.
Jan 9 - 4:35 PM

Kristers Gudlevskis has been sent to the minors.

Gudlevskis was summoned on Dec. 21 to serve as the Lightning's number two goaltender while Ben Bishop is sidelined. Bishop is still hurt, but the Lightning have decided to return Gudlevskis to the AHL so that he doesn't go too long without getting a start.

It was reported earlier that Kristers Gudlevskis would be joining the Tampa Bay Lightning and now the team has made his recall official.

Ben Bishop will be sidelined for three-to-four weeks with a lower-body injury. Gudlevskis will be Andrei Vasilevskiy's backup until Bishop is ready to return.

Kristers Gudlevskis will be brought up by the Lightning, according to the Syracuse Post-Standard.

Ben Bishop left Tuesday's game against Detroit after he suffered a lower-body injury, so Gudlevskis will be Andrei Vasilevskiy's understudy. The Lightning play back-to-back games Thursday and Friday prior to the Christmas break.

Kristers Gudlevskis has been sent to AHL Syracuse.

Ben Bishop is expected to start the season as the Lightning's starting goaltender and Andrei Vasilevskiy will be the backup. Gudlevskis might be summoned in the event of an injury, but otherwise he's projected to spend the full 2016-17 campaign in the minors. Bishop can become an unrestricted free agent beyond this season though, so there might be an opportunity for Gudlevskis to become Vasilevskiy's understudy at that point.

Kristers Gudlevskis has inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Gudlevskis posted a 2.83 GAA and .907 save percentage in 41 AHL contests in 2015-16. He's projected to start the 2016-17 campaign in the minors, but beyond that he might end up as the Lightning's backup goaltender if Ben Bishop walks after his contract expires in 2017 or is traded before that and the LIghtning don't sign another veteran goalie at that time.

After Ben Bishop was injured in Game 1 against Pittsburgh, Kristers Gudlevskis backed up Andrei Vasilevskiy.

If Bishop can't go in Game 2, Vasilevskiy would start and Gudlevskis would serve as the backup from the start of the game. Gudlevskis started just one NHL game this season, and it came back in October. The 23-year-old had a 16-12-8 record with a 2.83 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch in 2015-16.

Kristers Gudlevskis has been called up by Tampa Bay.

The Syracuse Crunch didn't qualify for the AHL playoffs, so Gudlevskis will provide some goaltending depth for the Lightning.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have assigned Kristers Gudlevskis to the AHL.

In a corresponding move, the Lightning have recalled Andrei Vasilevskiy from AHL Syracuse. The 23-year-old has made only one appearance in the NHL this season.

Kristers Gudlevskis has been called up by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

This is a familiar practice for Tampa Bay at this point. By calling up Gudlevskis, they can temporarily send Andrei Vasilevskiy to the minors to get in some extra work. Vasilevskiy has a ton of upside, but Ben Bishop is the clear starter this season, so that's why the Lightning keep swapping their backup goaltenders.
