Petter Granberg has been returned to the minors.
That leaves the Maple Leafs with only five healthy blueliners on their active roster, so they'll presumably make another move before Wednesday's game. Granberg has no points and six penalty minutes in seven games with the Maple Leafs. Mar 10 - 12:45 PM

Petter Granberg will pair with Stephane Robidas to form Toronto's third unit versus the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night.

The 22 year old Swede will see just his fifth career NHL game, and fourth of the season. However, he doesn't seem to have much fantasy value to speak of.

Jan 28 - 5:08 PM

Petter Granberg has been called up by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

There will be a lot of players called up on Monday as teams intentionally thinned their rosters over the All-Star break and will call up reinforcements now that practices are set to resume. That being said, Granberg is a bit of a different case as he hasn't played in the NHL yet this season. The 22-year-old defenseman has seven points and 18 penalty minutes in 28 AHL games this season.

Petter Granberg is a solid candidate to win a job on the Leafs' blueline this season after taking strides in his development last year and some new openings on the Toronto defense.

The 22 year-old Swede is a stingy defender with great size and force to keep attacking forwards at bay. He performed very well in his first season as a pro with the AHL Marlies in 2013-14, and with the departures of defensive minded veterans Paul Ranger and Tim Gleason during the off-season, the Leafs would love for Granberg to answer the call.

He will work on his game with the Toronto Marlies. Joining him on Toronto's farm club are forwards Sam Carrick, Andrew Crescenzi, Jerry D'Amigo, Josh Leivo, Greg McKegg and Brad Ross, defensemen Dylan Yeo and Zachary Yuen, and goaltenders Christopher Gibson and Garret Sparks. The Leafs also returned 2013 first-round pick Frederik Gauthier (Rimouski, QMJHL), Ryan Rupert (London, OHL) and Kevin Raine (Sudbury, OHL) to their CHL teams.

Petter Granberg will transition to North American hockey this season after capturing the league championship in Sweden last season and a gold medal at the World Championships.

He will attending training camp with the big club, but he's likely to start out in the minors to get used to the smaller ice. "I've developed a lot of things back in Sweden so I feel ready to take the step over here," said Granberg. He probably won't have much in the way of fantasy value, as he is projected to be a defensively responsible player, but he could be a player to watch during training camp as he is receiving strong reviews from the team's brass.
