Josh Anderson has shown a lot of promise this season, but to take another next step he needs to be a more consistent producer.
"He has seven goals right now, that’s good stuff," said Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella. "But he has to continue to stay on top of himself as far as . . . what it is to be a pro. I’m not sure on that with him. Does it get good to him because he had a good night? Or, does he come back and do it the next game with even more concentration? That’s the key with these young guys. I have a question mark with Josh on that." Anderson had a goal and two assists on Tuesday and also found the back of the net on Friday. Before that though he went four games without a point and he also had an eight-game point drought earlier in the campaign. It's not unusual for young players to go on more severe hot and cold streaks, but he might end up with 40-50 points this season regardless. Nov 30 - 9:22 AM

Josh Anderson scored a goal and two assists in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Anderson picked up a primary assist on William Karlsson's first period goal, he scored one of his own in the second period and picked up a second assist on Scott Hartnell's goal in the final frame. This was Anderson's second three-point night of the season. He's now up to seven goals, 10 points, a plus-10 rating and 19 penalty minutes in 21 games this season.

Josh Anderson scored the only goal of the night in a 2-1 loss by the Columbus Blue Jackets to the St Louis Blues Saturday night.

Saturday night’s game was in stark contrast to the night before when the Jackets blanked the Canadiens 10-0. Anderson’s two goals in that game came late in the going when netminder Al Montoya was glazed over and tired. Saturday night’s goal came unassisted at the 12:55 minute mark of the first period to a fresh Curtis McElhinney who was making his first start of the year.

Josh Anderson got into his first NHL fight Friday.

The big power forward played a tough game against the Ducks and a huge hit on defenseman Josh Manson brought the two to blows. Anderson has moved up from the fourth unit to the third line and has a couple of goals and 11 penalty minutes thus far. "It’s great for a young kid like Josh to come in and understand the way he needs to play," Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno said. "Not that it has to be a fight, but the energy he brings with his physical play. He’s such a big body." It doesn't hurt that coach John Tortorella must love the way he plays the game. Keep an eye on him on your waiver wire.

The Columbus Blue Jackets scored three goals with three players Saturday night in their shutout over the Dallas Stars.

The Jackets not only had three different scorers with Josh Anderson burying a puck in the first, Scott Hartnell scoring midway through the third, and Matt Calvert hitting an empty net at the end of the game, they also failed to double up on any assists. Boone Jenner, Seth Jones, William Karlsson, Zach Werenski, and Brandon Dubinsky all got in on the scoring Saturday night. That is great news for the players, but not so hot for fantasy owners who needed to capitalize on a specific skater.

Josh Anderson has an excellent opportunity to make the Columbus Blue Jackets out of training camp.

The winger played mostly in the minors last season but managed 12 games with the big club and had a goal and four points. The Blue Jackets no longer should have David Clarkson and Jared Boll was an off-season buyout so Anderson has a great chance of making the team out of camp. The 22-year-old had 18 goals and 39 points in 58 games but shone in the post-season with seven goals and 12 points in 15 games as the Monsters won the Calder Cup. Look for Anderson to get 20-25 points this season and thusly is not fantasy worthy.
Sep 25 - 6:53 AM

Josh Anderson scored once to lead Lake Erie to a 5-3 win over Rockford and a sweep of their best-of-five series.

Anderson had a big series as he had the hat trick Thursday in Game 2. Anderson played 15 games in the NHL this season with a goal and five points. The 21-year-old will be given every chance at training camp to break with the Blue Jackets next season.

Apr 5 - 2:53 PM

Josh Anderson has been reassigned to AHL Lake Erie.

The 21-year-old forward has posted just three points in 10 games with Columbus this season, but he's up to nine goals and 18 points in 26 games down on the farm. Perhaps a sign of things to come after scoring just seven goals and 17 points in 52 games last season with the Monsters.
Jan 24 - 2:02 PM

The Columbus Blue Jackets are quite excited by the play of Josh Anderson.

The winger was recalled when the Blue Jackets dealt Ryan Johansen to Nashville and were a forward short. Anderson started the game on Friday with William Karlsson and Nick Foligno as linemates. "We’ve had tremendous reports on Josh," coach John Tortorella said. "He’s going to get put in a third-line position, and I’m anxious to see him play." Amderson had nine goals, 18 points and 58 penalty minutes in 26 AHL games this season and had two assists in three NHL games before being held off the scoresheet Friday.
