Jan 16 - 7:19 PM

Dillon Heatherington might make his NHL debut during the Stars' upcoming four-game road trip.

The Stars called up Heatherington because Marc Methot (knee) won't be available for the trip, but Dallas still had six healthy defensemen before summoning Heatherington so they're not in a position where they have to use the 22-year-old blueliner. Still, Heatherington has impressed in the AHL so this might be a good time to give him his first taste of NHL action. "We really liked him in camp, and he's had a heck of a year," Stars coach Ken Hitchcock said of Heatherington. "He's a defined player, a defending, big, physical defenseman. He plays the left side. So, he's really a younger version of Meth. He's waited a long time to get in this situation. He's champing at the bit, and he is more than ready." You should note that Heatherington doesn't do a lot offensively, so he won't be of interest in standard fantasy leagues.
