Oliver Bjorkstrand has struggled in training camp thus far.

The talented winger has a minus-four rating with nary a point in three pre-season contests and while he is considered a lock to make the Blue Jackets this season, now it is not so sure out of camp. Bjorkstrand had four goals and eight points in 12 games with Columbus last season and was a stud in the AHL playoffs as he had 10 goals in being named the MVP of the post-season. Look for a 45-50 point season from Bjorkstrand if he sticks from the beginning of the season.
Oct 3 - 5:51 AM

Oliver Bjorkstrand looks like a lock to make the Columbus Blue Jackets this season.

That being said, you never know what is going on in the head of head coach John Tortorella. Bjorkstrand was taken in the third round of the 2013 Draft and has been on an upward trend ever since. He had four goals and eight points in 12 NHL games last season and was a huge part of the Lake Erie Monsters climb to the Calder Cup as he was named MVP off his 10 goals, including five in the final three games. Look for a 40 point-plus season from Bjorkstrand and draft him in most keeper leagues.

Bjorkstrand's goal gave the Monsters the 1-0 win as they swept the best-of-seven final. He scored 10 times including five in the last three games, in addition to six game winners. Look for Bjorkstrand to make the Columbus squad next season and expect a 30-40 point campaign for the Danish native.

The native of Denmark is highly-regarded and had four goals and eight points in 12 games with the Blue Jackets this past season. Look for him to crack the Blue Jackets lineup at training camp and get 30-40 points in 2016-17. Draft him accordingly.

Oliver Bjorkstrand scored the winner Thursday as Lake Erie took a 1-0 series lead over Grand Rapids with a 3-2 overtime win.

Bjorkstrand was quite the scorer for Columbus in limited duty as he had four goals and nine points in 13 games. The 21-year-old third round selection in the 2013 Draft is highly regarded and should have no trouble cracking the Blue Jackets lineup next season.

Oliver Bjorkstrand has been called up by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Mar 17 - 10:52 AM

Oliver Bjorkstrand was sent to the minors by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Bjrokstrand had two 100 point seasons in the WHL so his offensive skills are top-notch. He will need to work on his defensive game but do not be surprised if he plays a couple of NHL games this season.

Oliver Bjorkstrand had two goals and three assists in Columbus' 8-5 victory over Minnesota in a prospects' game.

Obviously, given that we're talking about an exhibition contest with rosters that consisted only of prospects, it's not recommended to read much into the statistics. In Bjorkstrand's case though, this is an extension of his previous dominance over his peers. Bjorkstrand recorded over 100 points in each of his last two WHL campaigns, including 2014-15 when he had 63 goals and 118 points in 59 games. He'll be competing for a roster spot at the main camp, although we wouldn't bet on him making the team yet.
