Ed Jovanovski (hip) doesn't have any plans for early retirement.
The veteran blueliner has two years left on his contract and he was limited to six games this season because of a hip issue which required surgery. "My mind-set is work hard in the summer, get my hip strong, but it's too early to say how it's going to respond," Jovanovski said. "I'm a driven individual and for me playing again is what I want to do and what I'm going to do." Apr 29 - 11:01 AM

Ed Jovanovski said Tuesday he has no timetable for a return following hip surgery earlier this month.

"I'm feeling great, going through therapy and am doing everything to make it stronger," said Jovanovski, who skated in just six games this season. "It's responding well. So far, so good. No setbacks. It's no secret the surgery I had was pretty aggressive. I just want to do things properly." He won't play again this year.

Ed Jovanovski will have surgery on his ailing hip and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.

The hip has become a degenerative problem for Jovanovski, who reportedly even flew to Europe to seek treatment. He ended up playing just six games this season and it's clear his NHL career is entering its twilight period. Fantasy owners hanging on to him this year can move on.
Mar 29 - 9:16 AM

Ed Jovanovski's undisclosed problem is related to the knee injury that has already cost him much of the season.

Jovanovski attempted to return on Saturday, but left the game after logging just 10:42 minutes. "Eddie is going to be out indefinitely," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. The Panthers will offer further clarification after their current road trip, which runs through March 24.

Mar 17 - 12:22 PM

Ed Jovanovski (knee) is still hoping to play on Saturday.

"I feel all right, feeling better," Jovanovski said. "It’s nice to be back in a team setting, get on the road and get a skate in. We’ll see what happens for Saturday. I’m cautious. It’s one of those things where I see where I’m at in the morning after a skate. There’s been a lot of down days." It would be Jovanovski's first game since Jan. 29.
Mar 16 - 9:58 AM

Ed Jovanovski (knee) is hopeful that he'll be ready to play in Saturday's home tilt against the New York Islanders.

He accompanied the team on their trip to Boston and skated in the morning. "There's been a lot of work, a lot of down days and second-guessing, a lot of everything," he said referring to his injury. "If I can prove to myself I can still do it then I'll give it every opportunity I can. My passion for the game is as high as when I first started. I want to continue to work at it and keep playing." Jovanovski has suited up in just five games this year.

Mar 6 - 11:08 AM

Ed Jovanovski is still slowed by a knee injury sustained on Jan. 29 against Tampa Bay despite beginning skating on Friday.

"There is no expectation for the next two weeks that he’ll be available to us,’’ coach Dineen said. "It’s disappointing for him and it’s disappointing for us. He leaves a void on our team both on and off the ice. Eddie brings a lot of intangibles to a team.’’Unfortunately, Jovanovski hasn't done anything of note from a fantasy perspective this season.
