Bobby Farnham was a healthy scratch on Saturday.

The tough winger has 19 penalty minutes in the 10 games he has played with the Penguins thus far after he was recalled from the minors on December 13. Farnham does have some speed to his skating and has drawn six opponents into minor penalties, putting the Penguins on the power play. "Sometimes the other team wants to kill you or they can’t contain themselves and they take a dumb penalty or something like that," Farnham said. "But other than that, it’s just using your assets and one of mine is speed. Just using that speed and quickness to create hooks and grabs and stuff like that. It all goes into it. Obviously, the agitation side of it can factor in quite often because you can frustrate guys and they take the penalties. But a lot of it has to do with the speed and the way you play, as well."

In four career games, Bobby Farnham has already been in two fights.

Farnham is making a good first impression with the Penguins for his physical play. Steve Downie in particular has taken note, who remarked that Farnham reminds him of himself. Farnham doesn't have Downie's offensive upside though, which limits his potential value in standard leagues.

Bobby Farnham is making a good first impression with the Penguins.

Farnham, 25, has played in two games and is known for his physical play. He recorded five hits on Monday and logged 9:17 minutes, including some early shifts. "Early in the game, when we didn't have a lot going on, he was the one bright light," coach Mike Johnston said. Pittsburgh has quite a few injured forwards and once some of them start coming back, Farnham could find himself back in the minors. For now though, he's likely to continue to serve on Pittsburgh's fourth line.
