Nov 13 - 3:12 PM

Nicholas Baptiste scores in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Baptiste opened the scoring at the 2:49 mark of the first period, but unfortunately for Buffalo, they couldn't get themselves on the board again in this game. Cole Schneider and Derek Grant assisted on Baptiste's goal. Sam Reinhart scored in the shootout for Buffalo, but it wasn't enough to get them the win. Baptiste has two goals in eight games in 2016-17.

The Buffalo Sabres have summoned Nicholas Baptiste from AHL Rochester and he is slated to play Sunday versus Winnipeg.

Baptiste has played in seven games so far this season, two with Buffalo and five with Rochester. The 21-year-old has posted three goals and five points down on the farm, plus one more goal while with the big club. He's beginning to appear as an under-the-radar rookie worth paying attention to.
Oct 30 - 1:01 PM

Nicholas Baptiste might end up staying in AHL Rochester for a little while.

Baptiste was one of three players demoted on Friday and at the time it looked like it might just be a short-term stint as the Sabres weren't scheduled to play until Tuesday anyways. All three players got in some work on Friday and Saturday, but while the other two - Casey Nelson and Hudson Fasching - were recalled on Sunday, Baptiste remained in the minors. So it seems that for Baptiste, this AHL stint is about more than just playing a couple games while the Sabres are off.

Nicolas Baptiste was credited with the first goal of his career in the Sabres 2-1 loss to Vancouver on Thursday.

Sabres rookie Nicholas Baptiste threw the puck into the crease from below the goal line and it bounced in off the skate of Canucks forward Jack Skille. The goal was waved off because the referee said Deslauriers knocked it in with his body, but that call was overturned after a lengthy review. Interesting way to get the first goal of your career but they all count the same. The 21-year-old had just 5:49 seconds of ice-time in the game.

The Sabres have signed Nicholas Baptise to an entry-level contract.

Baptise was Buffalo's 3rd round pick in 2012. He tore up the OHL this past season playing in Sudbury scoring 45 goals and registering 89 points in 65 games. Baptise stands a very good chance of making the Canadian Junior team this year and could be a factor with the Sabres as early as the 2015-16 season.
