The Washington Capitals drafted the first Australian ever when they selected Nathan Walker in the third round.

The Capitals were well aware of Walker as the 20-year-old played 43 games with their AHL affiliate in Hershey this past season, scoring five times and adding six assists. Walker fell in love with hockey when he saw the movie "The Mighty Ducks" and his family moved to the Czech Republic when he was 13 to further his career.
