Tyler Gaudet has been returned to AHL Springfield.

Gaudet may have only produced an assist while up with the Coyotes, but he did record 16 hits in five games as well. Perhaps this is an indication of the type of professional the 22-year-old will be, as he's managed to score just 20 points in 79 career AHL games.

Ty Gaudet picked up his first NHL point in his young career as he assisted on Steve Downie's goal Friday in a 4-3 loss to Vancouver.

It was Gaudet's fifth NHL game of his career and third this season. The undrafted 22-year-old center is not much of a scorer but is seeing bottom-six minutes thus far this season. He is also a minus-two on the year for the Coyotes.

Tyler Gaudet didn't make the Arizona Coyotes' opening game roster, but he might be called up during the season.

"He skates well. He thinks well. There's a lot of parts of his game, really, to like," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said of Gaudet. "But in his position (center), there's a lot of details to learn and a lot of situations he thinks them well, but he's just got to get in those situations." Gaudet is getting ready for his first pro season after being sent to AHL Portland. He had 26 goals and 61 points in 65 OHL games in 2013-14.

Tyler Gaudet is hoping to win a roster spot on his defensive abilities.

Gaudet had 26 goals and 61 points in 65 OHL games last season, but he knows that if he makes the Coyotes' opening game roster, it will be as a bottom-six forward. "He's another player that's going to have to be the hard, dependable third or fourth-line center to begin with," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "Hopefully he expands from that, but to me, that's where he's got to focus coming in." Gaudet is far from a safe bet to make the team, but he can't be ruled out either.
