Dillon Simpson will be scratched against the Kings on Thursday night.

Simpson has been up with the club for some time now, but he's yet to make his NHL debut. Which likely indicates his lack of a role with the Oilers, at this time anyway. He has 21 points in 64 career games with AHL Bakersfield.

Now that he's completed his tenure with the University of North Dakota, Dillon Simpson is getting ready for his first training camp.

Simpson is looking to follow in his father's footsteps, former NHL forward Craig Simpson. Craig spent parts of six seasons with the Oilers, so Dillon was very familiar with the franchise even before Edmonton drafted him in 2011. "It's amazing to grow up in the Oilers culture with my dad coaching and playing here, knowing what they're all about, then coming in with this new generation of players," said Dillon Simpson. "Seeing how things have changed, how things have stayed the same. It's cool to be a part of it." Dillon had six goals and 23 points in 42 NCAA games in 2013-14.

Dillon Simpson has inked an entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers.

Simpson had seven goals and 23 points in 42 games with the University of North Dakota in 2013-14. He was taken by Edmonton in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Rather than join the AHL Oklahoma City Barons immediately, Simpson will stay in university to finish his degree in finance degree.
