Jake Virtanen will serve as one of the scratches on Tuesday night.

There's no mention of an injury, so we have to assume that this is a coach's decision. The 20-year-old hasn't picked up a point in two games this season. Alex Biega and Nikita Tryamkin will also watch the game from the press box.

Jake Virtanen (shoulder) was on the ice Thursday.

Virtanen bruised his shoulder during Tuesday's contest. He's not be 100% yet, but it doesn't sound like this is a significant injury.
Sep 29 - 5:49 PM

Jake Virtanen left Tuesday's contest with a shoulder injury.

We'll have to wait and see if Virtanen will miss a meaningful amount of time. Prior to the injury he was playing on a line with Sven Baertschi and Bo Horvat.
Sep 28 - 6:02 AM

Jake Virtanen was back in the lineup from his suspension on Monday.

He has one shot in 13:40 of ice time against Los Angeles. Virtanen got a two-game ban for a late hit on Sharks defender Roman Polak.
Apr 5 - 6:04 PM

Jake Virtanen has been suspended for two games for his late hit on San Jose's Roman Polak.

The NHL described Virtanen's hit as "late, forceful, blindside check." The league felt this warranted supplemental discipline due to how late it was delivered and its "predatory nature." Virtanen will be eligible to return on April 4. This is Virtanen's first incident of supplemental discipline and Polak was not injured as a result of the hit.
Mar 30 - 4:08 PM

Jake Virtanen delivered a late, rather high looking hit on Roman Polak in a game against the Sharks on Tuesday.

The Canucks rookie got a major penalty for interference and a game misconduct for his hit that was, above anything else, late. Polak returned to the game shortly afterwards so that's good news for Virtanen. Major penalties are automatically reviewed so we will see where this goes.
Mar 30 - 3:28 AM

Jake Virtanen scored a goal in the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.

Virtanen scored his seventh goal of the season, giving him thirteen points in forty-three games played. He has two points (1G, 1A) in his past five games.
Mar 15 - 2:45 AM

Jake Virtanen dropped the gloves with Preds forward Filip Forsberg on Saturday night.

Virtanen and Forsberg fought in the opening minute of the game. The Canucks rookie finished the game with a minus-1 rating, three shots on goal, three hits and seven penalty minutes in less than 10 minutes of ice time.
Mar 13 - 11:30 AM

Jake Virtanen has moved to the top line in Vancouver with Henrik and Daniel Sedin.

This is as good as it gets in the British Columbia city and Virtanen needs to work hard to maintain a spot with the Swedish twins. "It is pretty sweet," Virtanen said. "I haven’t really played with them since pre-season ... I am looking forward to playing with those guys, they are world-class players." The 19-year-old could be a nice play in fantasy tonight as the Canucks take on Nashville. Virtanen has six goals and 12 points in 41 games this season but the rookie has huge upside offensively, especially on the top line.
Mar 12 - 10:29 AM

With a goal and an assist, Jake Virtanen picked up his second multi-point game in a week and of the season.

The Canucks fell to the Sharks unfortunately 3-2. The teen aged Virtanen is now up to six goals and 11 points in the campaign.
Mar 4 - 1:36 AM

Jake Virtanen recorded his first career multi-point game during Thursday's 5-3 win over Ottawa.

It was of the goal plus assist variety for the developing teen. He's still only at five goals and nine points this season, which hopefully is more of a sign of maturity than ability.
Feb 26 - 1:29 AM

Jake Virtanen picked up the fourth goal of his young career during Friday's 5-2 loss to Calgary.

February 2016 marks the first month in which the teen aged Virtanen has recorded multiple goals in a month. For a rookie with so much hype, that's a bit surprising to say the least. Nevertheless, he now has seven points in 33 games.
Feb 19 - 11:58 PM

Jake Virtanen will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 19-year-old has two goals and five assists in 26 games this season. He has no fantasy value in standard leagues this season, but he should be owned in all dynasty formats. Adam Cracknell and Yannick Weber will also watch the game from the press box.
Feb 4 - 10:01 PM

Unfortunately, Jake Virtanen will not play Tuesday against the Rangers and neither will Yannick Weber.

Virtanten was originally expected to play but it appears that Coach Willie Desjardins has other plans. It's worth noting that the two players have just two goals and 10 points in 58 combined games this season.
