Mar 2 - 12:04 PM

Mike Knuble will be a healthy scratch on Wednesday night.

In 17 games with the Flyers this season, he has contributed two goals and six points but he has just one assist in his past six appearances. Knuble hasn't seen much ice time either in his last two outings, so he'll sit in favor of Harry Zolnierczyk versus the Capitals.

Mike Knuble called the Flyers' play this season "unacceptable."

"That is unacceptable for this team, unacceptable from the last player all the way up to our top guys in the room," said Knuble. "Nobody is happy about it. The league is not going to wait around [for us]. You don’t have time to practice. If you’re way out of it, you don’t have time to play your way out of it. In an [82-game] schedule you can take your time and play your way through it." Knuble wants to see the team play with more urgency and "the will to win."

In a night of firsts, Mike Knuble notched his first goal of the season in his second stint as a Flyer.

Knuble spent four years with the organization before signing a three-year deal with the Capitals. "When we had a chance to score we did and finally got the power play going," Flyer captain Claude Giroux said. "That’s one of the main reasons why we’ve struggled this season. "The power play wasn’t working. We’ve been working hard the last three days. We had a lot of penalties in the third period and did a good job killing them." So many things went right. So many "firsts," as well.
Feb 3 - 10:57 AM

Mike Knuble registered an assist Saturday in his first game back with the Flyers after signing a one-year contract Friday.

Knuble skated mostly on a line with Brayden Schenn and Scott Laughton and even saw time on the Flyers' second power-play unit.
Jan 27 - 11:00 AM

Mike Knuble is very happy to be back with the Flyers.

He spent four years with the organization before signing a three-year deal with the Capitals. "I never really wanted to go, and I said that at the time," Knuble said. "It's a place where you feel very comfortable. The staff, the people you see at the rink every day, you know your way around [the city]. It's a great organization and a place I kind of had to leave because of salary-cap reasons."
Jan 26 - 10:36 AM

The Philadelphia Flyers have officially signed Mike Knuble to a one-year deal.

Knuble will help the Flyers cope with the absence of Scott Hartnell (foot), who will miss the next four-to-eight weeks. Knuble had six goals and 18 points in 72 games with the Washington Capitals last season.
Jan 25 - 4:51 PM

Mike Knuble is expected to sign with the Philadelphia Flyers.

According to GM Paul Holmgren, Knuble and the Flyers will agree to a contract after he passes his physical on Friday. The decision to bring back the former Philadelphia winger was made shortly after news broke that Scott Hartnell would be out of commission for 4-8 weeks with a broken foot. "Obviously we're familiar with Mike," said Holmgren. "He was here for a few years, and he's a good guy. A good, big, and heavy player. We think he's a good guy to throw in the mix right now." Knuble had been playing with AHL Grand Rapids on a 25-game tryout contract.
Jan 25 - 8:45 AM

Mike Knuble has inked a professional tryout with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins.

Grand Rapids is the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. Knuble took part in Detroit's training camp on a tryout basis, but wasn't able to make the team's opening game roster. Still, it looks like the 40-year-old plans to extend his playing career.
Jan 18 - 3:08 PM

Mike Knuble got a chance to play on the second line with Valtteri Filppula will play with Johan Franzen during Tuesday's scrimmage.

Knuble joined the Red Wings' training camp on a tryout basis. He had six goals and 18 points in 72 games last season with the Washington Capitals. If he does end up making the Red Wings, he probably won't get regular time on Detroit's second line despite his role in the scrimmage.
Jan 16 - 9:31 AM

Mike Knuble will be attending Red Wings camp on a tryout.

Knuble had 18 points in 72 games with the Capitals last year. With a pretty crowded roster, the 40-year-old could have a tough time cracking Detroit's lineup. He'd fill a bottom-six role if the Wings determine that he still has something left in the tank.

Jan 12 - 8:47 PM

Unrestricted free agent forward Mike Knuble admitted that his future is "up in the air" to the Washington Times' Stephen Whyno.

Knuble most recently played for the Washington Capitals, suffering from a massive drop-off in numbers. His goals (24 to 6), points (40 to 18) and plus/minus (+10 to -15) all plummeted dramatically from 2010-11 to 2011-12. Still, it's not hard to imagine a team giving him a shot considering his eight-year run of 20+ tallies.
Jan 6 - 12:30 PM

Mike Knuble would like to continue his NHL career, but the league's labor uncertainty is delaying his chances of signing somewhere.

"My situation will be in a limbo until the labor situation is settled," he said. "There are a group of free agents who will get kind of plucked and hopefully put places, and that includes me. I think teams have a sense of what it is they're looking for." The 40-year-old veteran scored only six goals and 18 points in 72 games last season, so the Washington Capitals decided to allow him to walk as a free agent. Knuble understands that his playing days might be over, but he will take his chances and wait for an opportunity to arise before making a final decision.
