Ethan Moreau addressed his expectations for the upcoming season after joining the Los Angeles Kings.

When he was asked that question as well as what role he wants to fill, Moreau said: "I want to come to camp and prove that I'm where I was a few years ago. Throughout my career, I've been a top player on the third line. I've been an elite penalty-killer. I play defensively, I play physical, I play tough. I just can't wait to get back, just to show my teammates that I'm not just here for leadership. I'm not just here to be a piece of the roster. I want to re-establish myself and score goals and play tough and do what I've always done. I don't feel like my play has gone down. I've just had some unlucky injuries. It's exciting for me to be able to re-prove myself in the league and have some incentive. I'm mad, which is good. I'm motivated that more teams didn't want me, and hopefully I can take it out through my play." Entering the 2011-12 campaign with a chip on his shoulder could be great for the Kings, especially if he can chip in offensively.

Ethan Moreau passed his physical on Monday, so he will become the newest member of the Los Angeles Kings.

The signing of his one-year deal worth $600,000 is expected to be made official on Tuesday. Moreau appeared in just 37 games with Columbus last season because of a broken hand, a rib injury and a bruised foot. If he can stay healthy then he should add leadership and grit as a bottom-six forward on the Kings.

One of the reasons the Kings signed Ethan Moreau was due to his defensive capabilities.

After losing Michal Handzus and Ryan Smyth it was clear Los Angeles needed a defensive star. Moreau fits the bill as he can play in every situation and make a meaningful impact. He is not much of a fantasy star but could see some power play time if the team struggles.
