Shane Doan isn't sure if he'll retire or re-sign this summer.
Doan has completed his four-year, $21.2 million contract. The Coyotes have made it clear that they'd be happy to re-sign him if he wants to extend his career, so at this point it sounds like his fate is in his hands. "My family and I will discuss it," Doan said of his future. "…My (four) kids are getting older and they’ve got important things happening in their lives. I have the opportunity to be there and I’d love to be there for some of them. I don’t want to miss too much." Apr 13 - 6:18 PM

With the Coyotes' campaign over, Shane Doan will need to decide what his plans are for the future.

Doan is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. There's a chance he'll retire, but Coyotes GM Don Maloney thinks he'll ultimately return on a one-year contract. "Hopefully we’ll do something relatively soon," Maloney said. "We’re not expecting him to come back at the league minimum, and we’re not expecting to pay him the league maximum either. He’s played well. He deserves a decent contract, and we’re going to give him a decent contract." Doan is coming off of a four-year, $21.2 million deal.

Shane Doan picked up 19 PIMs in Saturday's season finale 1-0 loss to San Jose.

All in one fell swoop Doan got all his minutes. He fought Roman Polak, collected an instigator, an unsportsmanlike conduct, and a game misconduct. The Coyotes captain saw just 14:06 of ice time before departing. He finished the season with 28 goals and 47 points in 72 games and 98 PIMs.
Apr 10 - 3:10 AM

Shane Doan scored his 27th goal of the season in the Coyotes' loss to Nashville Thursday night.

The 39-year-old veteran has been overshadowed by Jaromir Jagr's impressive season, but Doan has proven he can still compete with players more than 20 years younger than he is. Doan has 46 points this season.
Apr 7 - 10:55 PM

Shane Doan has an idea of how to give teams something to play for after they've lost all hope of making the playoffs.

"The day you’re mathematically eliminated, you start accumulating points," Doan said. "When you get to the end of the year, whoever’s accumulated the most points gets the first overall pick." The reason why it starts when the team is eliminated is to provide the league's worst teams with an advantage. The first squad eliminated would have the most opportunities to accumulate points towards the race to the first overall pick. It's a more complicated system, but it would throw a wrench in the idea of tanking for a better selection. It would also give fans a reason to root for their team even after they're out of the playoff race.

Shane Doan (concussion) will play in Thursday's game against the Dallas Stars.

Doan missed one game after suffering a concussion in a game against the Flyers last week. The 39-year-old has 26 goals and 44 points in 66 games this season.
Mar 31 - 8:12 PM

It looks like Shane Doan (concussion-like symptoms) will return on Thursday.

Doan wasn't available for Monday's game. If he plays, it will likely be alongside Max Domi and Martin Hanzal.
Mar 31 - 5:00 PM

Shane Doan, who has experienced concussion-like symptoms, is probable for Thursday's game, per coach Dave Tippett.

Doan wasn't able to play on Monday. He has 26 goals and 44 points in 66 contests in 2015-16.
Mar 30 - 2:19 PM

Shane Doan has been dealing with concussion-like symptoms.

Doan was able to skate on his own for a short time after the Coyotes' practice on Tuesday. He needs to pass some baseline tests, but it's not out of the question that he does so in time to participate in Thursday's game.
Mar 30 - 10:29 AM

Coach Dave Tippett hopes to have Shane Doan (upper body) back in the lineup on Thursday.

"Talked to him this morning," Tippett said. "He seems in real good spirits, so he'll just kind of go through the protocol I think, and hopefully he'll be ready for Thursday."
Mar 28 - 3:25 PM

Shane Doan will not play Monday because of a possible concussion.

Coach Dave Tippett said Doan is listed as day-to-day, while he goes through concussion protocol. He was hit hard into the boards by Philadelphia's Radko Gudas on Saturday and was forced to leave the game.
Mar 28 - 2:36 PM

Shane Doan was crunched into the boards by Radko Gudas in the second period and did not return.

The event could cause Gudas to be suspended even though a penalty was not called. Doan could be ready to go for the next game as coach Dave Tippett stated after the game that he was held out for precautionary reasons. Doan scored earlier in the game and now has 26 goals and 44 points this season.
Mar 27 - 5:52 AM

Shane Doan and the Arizona Coyotes could not muster up any offense in a 3-0 loss to the Sharks on Sunday.

Yotes’ just couldn’t find a way to beat a strong James Reimer. They have dropped two straight and will look to rebound against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night. Shane Doan finished the contest with only one shot on goal.
Mar 21 - 12:41 AM

If Shane Doan finishes the season leading the Coyotes in goals, he'll be joining a very exclusive group.

Only three other players have led their squad in scoring at or past the age of 39, including Gordie Howe and Jaromir Jagr. Doan's 25 goals are six more than any other Arizona player, so he's very likely to join that list. Doan is also seven markers away from reaching the 400 career goal milestone.
Mar 19 - 4:47 AM

Shane Doan got a little wily on Martin Jones for Thursday's 3-1 win over the Sharks.

It was another quality game for the long time Captain, who scored from the corner on the short side with just 91 seconds to go in the game. Effectively ending it. Doan's now up to 25 goals and 43 points this season and is on a nice three game point streak.
