Rhett Warrener has become a scout for the Calgary Flames.
Warrener did not play last season as he had shoulder surgery. He was waived but could not be sent to the minors because NHL rules stated that an injured player could not be sent down. While Warrener has not officially retired, there is no interest at this time from any NHL team. "I still want to play," Warrener said. "I went through a tough summer dealing with all that, but I think this is the right decision." Warrener will work mainly with the Flames and their AHL farm team in Abbotsford. Rhett Warrener had shoulder surgery on the weekend.

Warrener has been out of action all season with a shoulder injury. He was waived before the start of the season, but NHL rules prohibited the Flames from sending an injured player to the minors. He has no fantasy value and is still out indefinitely.

The Calgary Flames have placed Rhett Warrener on the injured list.

The Flames were expected to send Warrener to the minors, but league rules prohibit injured players from being sent down and Warrener has a shoulder injury. He will have no fantasy value this season.

Rhett Warrener was not claimed by any team and remains in limbo as the Calgary Flames are attempting to trade him.

The oft-injured blueliner could be sent to Quad City of the AHL if no team is interested in trading for his services. The 32-year-old has a $2.35 million salary cap hit and that is too much for the Flames. He could be traded later in the season if a team is looking for a solid defensive defenseman.

Look for the Flames to trade either Rhett Warrener or Anders Eriksson to free up $2 million in salary cap space.

The 32-year-old Warrener, who has been injured for much of the last two seasons, was placed on waivers in June with no takers. Although he is in tremendous shape at the moment, it looks as if his days in Calgary are numbered.

Rhett Warrener is not ready to pack it in yet.

Defenceman Rhett Warrener was recently placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames in what looks to be strictly a financial move by the club. Warrener fractured bones in his leg and ankle twice last season but chalks it up to bad luck rather than his body wearing down. The 32 year old still feels that he's in great shape. Once he clears waivers and is bought out he will likely sign with a team who is looking for grit and depth in their blueline corps.

Rhett Warrener has been placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames.

Warrener will have the last year of his contract bought out by the Flames once he passes through waivers. Warrener was scheduled to earn $2.5 million next season. He is a better hockey player than fantasy performer and while he will find work in the NHL next season, he shouldn't be on anyone's fantasy squad.

Rhett Warrener is back in the Calgary lineup after a long stay in the press box.

The 32-year-old blueliner was a healthy scratch for the Flames in 10 of their past 12 games. He even netted a goal on Saturday night against Phoenix. Warrener has experienced a much more diminished role in Calgary than he is used to.

Rhett Warrener scored his first goal of the season Saturday against the Coyotes.

He needed to do something positive as he has been a healthy scratch for 10 of the Flames' last 12 games. His recent success aside, Warrener should not under any conditions be in anyone's fantasy lineup.

Rhett Warrener returned to action against the Kings Saturday night.

He had been sidelined since November 24th with a high ankle sprain. Warrener played an uneventful 11:27 against Los Angeles alongside defense partner David Hale. If for some reason Warrener is on your fantasy squad, he seems safe to activate.
