Mike Grier has officially announced his retirement.
The 14-year veteran suited up in 1,060 career games with Edmonton, Washington, San Jose and Buffalo. He compiled 162 goals and 383 points during that time, but he will probably be remembered more for his tireless work ethic and his leadership qualities. "I was very fortunate to be able to play 14 seasons in the NHL with some great players," said Grier. "The memories and friendships that I have built during my time in the league will last a lifetime. I would like to thank my former teammates, family and fans for helping make my career so memorable for me. It was a great ride, and I am now excited and looking forward to my post-playing future." We wish him the best. Thu, Dec 1, 2011 04:31:00 PM

"If I play again, it'll be here," said the 36-year-old forward and pending unrestricted free agent. "If not, that'll probably be it." Grier won't be a fantasy factor if he returns for another year, but his veteran presence could help the team's younger players. Stay tuned.
