Dan Cloutier has signed with Chicago's AHL-affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
Unfortunately, Cloutier's debut with the IceHogs didn't exactly go as planned. Cloutier received a match penalty and a one-game suspension after he used his blocker to punch Manitoba's netminder. Cloutier hasn't played in an NHL game since April 5th, 2008. Wed, Dec 9, 2009 01:50:00 PM

Dan Cloutier is said to be considering playing in Europe this season.

Cloutier had a professional tryout with the Detroit Red Wings last month after missing the entire 2008-09 season because of a serious hip injury. The Canucks offered him a tryout before the Red Wings did, but he took the Red Wings offer. They released him last week. He will probably head over to Europe to see if he can still play the game at a top level.

The Detroit Red Wings have released Dan Cloutier.

The netminder was in Detroit's camp on a tryout basis. It could be the end of the road for Cloutier as he will have a hard time catching on elsewhere.

Dan Cloutier will battle Jimmy Howard for the backup job in Detroit this season.

Cloutier is with the Red Wings on a tryout basis, but the former number one netminder could have a shot if Howard's play is less than adequate. He has no fantasy value at this time.

The Red Wings have invited Dan Cloutier to their training camp on a tryout basis.

Cloutier did not play in the NHL last season and hasn't enjoyed a productive season since the lockout. This could be a step towards a comeback this season, but he has no fantasy value at this time.

The NHL has sided with the Los Angeles Kings with regards to the grievance filed on the buyout of Dan Cloutier's contract.

Cloutier alleged that he was injured when the Kings bought out his contract and that the transaction should be voided. The NHL has ruled that the buyout should stand and the case will likely go to arbitration. Cloutier only appeared in nine games with the Kings last season, the lowest during his 10-year career. His reputation doesn't help him so it's likely he will not return to the NHL unless some major improvements are made both on and off the ice.

The Los Angeles Kings may not be allowed to buyout Dan Cloutier's contract.

Cloutier might not have fully recovered from the knee and hip injuries he sustained during the 2007-08 season. He is expected to meet with doctors soon and if they decide he's not healthy, the Kings will have to pay Cloutier his full salary of $3 million next season. If he is healthy, the Kings can buyout his contract at a price of $2 million over the next two seasons.

Dan Cloutier has been placed on waivers by the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings are expected to buy Cloutier's contract out if no one claims him off waivers. Cloutier had a terrible 2007-08 season with a 3.43 GAA and .887 save percentage in nine NHL games.

Dan Cloutier stopped just 22 of 26 shots in the Kings' 4-3 loss to the Ducks on Saturday afternoon.

Cloutier was making his first start since March 18th and was not particularly effective. His record falls to 2-4-1 on the season. Dustin Brown, Brian Willsie, and Patrick O'Sullivan scored for Los Angeles in the losing effort.

Dan Cloutier will be re-evaluated on Monday.

Cloutier is out with a groin injury. Coach Marc Crawford said on Friday that Cloutier told him he was feeling better. Daniel Taylor will continue to be the emergency backup for Erik Ersberg while Cloutier is sidelined. Don't expect Cloutier back in the lineup this season as the Kings would like to test Ersberg further in goal. Ersberg will get the start in goal for the Kings on Saturday against Dallas.

Dan Cloutier is out of action with a groin injury.

Cloutier missed Thursday's game with a strained groin. Since he hasn't played in over a week, Cloutier either injured himself in practice or on the bench watching Erik Ersberg play. In either case, Cloutier should not be on your fantasy team.

Dan Cloutier stopped 21 of 23 shots on Tuesday night, but it was not enough to keep his Kings from dropping a 2-1 decision to the Sharks.

Cloutier was strong in this one but was simply outdueled by his counterpart, Brian Boucher, in what turned out to be a defensive struggle. Cloutier has now lost all three games he has started in March, though that includes tonight and an even better performance last Monday, and has yet to win since February 21st against St. Louis. Lubomir Visnovsky scored LA's only goal of the night.

Dan Cloutier saved 38 of 40 shots in a 2-1 overtime defeat Monday.

Cloutier suffered his third straight loss to bring his record down to 2-3-0 this season. This was one of his better performances of the season, but he has been inconsistent at best. He should be avoided in fantasy leagues where ever possible.

Dan Cloutier was tagged for four goals as the Kings fell to the Avalanche 5-2 on Saturday night.

Cloutier has struggled recently by allowing 14 goals in his last three starts, which is definitely not a good sign for the struggling Kings. The Kings look like they will be finishing in last place in the NHL this season and will most likely get the first overall pick in this summer's NHL entry draft. The Kings are desperate for Jason LaBarbera to return from his groin injury, until then they will need to ride Cloutier's struggles.

Dan Cloutier turned aside 22 of 27 shots in a 5-4 loss Thursday.

Cloutier allowed four goals on just 10 shots in the second period. This was Cloutier's first loss of the season. He now has a 3.80 GAA and .878 save percentage in five starts this season.
