Olli Jokinen's lower-body injury is a high-ankle sprain.

Apr 22 - 11:37 AM

Olli Jokinen suffered a lower body injury during Saturday's game against the New York Islanders.

Jokinen isn't expected to return to the contest. His leg reportedly appeared to twist awkwardly and that might be the cause of the ailment.
Apr 20 - 4:04 PM

Olli Jokinen scored a goal in a 3-1 defeat Saturday afternoon.

Evander Kane and Antti Miettinen each assisted on the Jets' lone goal. Jokinen now has seven goals and 11 points in 36 games this season.
Mar 30 - 6:02 PM

Olli Jokinen snapped a 14-game goal drought with his sixth marker of the year during Tuesday's win over Carolina.

Over his goalless stretch, he had just two assists. Jokinen has not provided the Jets with the kind of production the team expected when they signed him to a two-year, $9 million contract back in July. He has only 10 points and a minus-15 rating after 34 games.
Mar 27 - 9:38 AM

Olli Jokinen scored a pair of goals Tuesday night.

He has seven points in 19 games this season to go with a team-worst minus-10 rating. Jokinen is currently playing on Winnipeg's third line with James Wright and Anthony Peluso, which is not what the team envisioned when they signed him as an unrestricted free agent last summer.
Feb 27 - 9:38 AM

Olli Jokinen scored a goal in Winnipeg's 5-3 loss Saturday afternoon.

That ended Jokinen's nine-game pointless slump. Alex Burmistrov and Evander Kane each scored a goal in the losing effort. Dustin Byfuglien recorded two assists for the Jets.
Feb 23 - 3:58 PM

Olli Jokinen has gone without scoring a point in seven straight games.

The veteran center hasn't even registered a shot in his past two contests, which doesn't bode well for an end to his recent cold streak either. Jokinen was projected to be a top-six addition to the Jets' offensive picture this season after signing a two-year, $9 million contract with the organization last summer. However, he has been playing on the third line of late and has scored only four points in 14 matches.
Feb 19 - 7:08 AM

Olli Jokinen has recorded just two goals and two assists in his first 12 games with the Winnipeg Jets.

The Jets added Jokinen as their top free-agent addition during the summer and he has sputtered out of the gate so far. He started the year without a point in four prior to getting all four of his points during a three-game span. Since then he hasn't had a goal or an assist in five consecutive contests.
Feb 13 - 9:14 AM

Olli Jokinen feels like he's starting to develop a groove now after the long layoff of the lockout.

"It was a while before I played the last time so it's been a pretty big layover and it's started to feel better the last few games," Jokinen said Wednesday. "The only way to train for the game is to play the game, have meaningful games. It's different when you skate with six guys, play three-on-three. When you start competing against the best players in the world, it's a little different." The veteran forward said he did not feel like himself for the first few games when he didn't have a point. Jokinen has generated a goal and two helpers in his past two appearances.
Jan 31 - 9:24 AM

Olli Jokinen scored a goal and added an assist in the Jets 4-3 loss to Montreal Tuesday night.

It's typically not a good sign when a player can triple his point total on the season in just one game, but with three points in six contests Jokinen is starting to come around. Blake Wheeler and Nik Antropov also found the back of the net in the losing effort.
Jan 29 - 11:04 PM

Olli Jokinen said a silver lining to the lockout was that he has had plenty of time to grow accustomed to the city of Winnipeg.

"The good thing this time was probably having the lockout so I had a good chance to get used to the surroundings and get to know the city and find some new friends outside hockey," said Jokinen. That's a very good attitude from the veteran center. The Jets will lean on Jokinen for leadership and offense this year. During the early part of training camp, he has been skating with Evander Kane and Kyle Wellwood.
Jan 16 - 9:52 AM

Olli Jokinen is expected to add offense and a big-bodied center to Winnipeg's lineup, but he'll add leadership as well.

"The best way to lead is by example. Sometimes you have to dump the puck in or block the shot," he said. "It's not all about scoring goals. You have to look after the little details but if that doesn't work I'm not afraid to speak up. You have to be honest with yourself and sometimes honest with your teammates. You don't have to be a jerk about it but a team doesn't have to be about 20 of the nicest guys either. Sometimes the truth hurts." Jokinen has experienced the fallout of two previous lockouts, so his wisdom could come in handy along with his ability to put up points.
Jan 8 - 9:59 AM

Olli Jokinen factors to be a key member of the Jets' offense when the NHL season begins.

He inked a two-year, $9 million contract with Winnipeg in the summer and has been skating at the team's practice and training facility during the lockout. Jokinen took part in some charity games, but he didn't head overseas to find work. He's projected to be the team's number one center this year, which should land him a spot next to young sniper Evander Kane on opening night.
Jan 7 - 10:59 AM

Olli Jokinen is looking forward to Christmas.

The holiday will be a bright spot in what has been a dull several months as the lockout drags on. Days into the dispute, Jokinen refused to discuss the work stoppage, but he was more than willing to talk about his first Winnipeg Christmas. "This year will be a regular Christmas, just a little bit longer than usual," Jokinen said. "Usually you get the 24th and 25th, not much more. We'll still skate here with the guys on the 24th, keep the routine going here with the practices. But there's lot of time to spend with the family and be outdoors."
