Danny Briere scored his first goal in 20 games Thursday night.
It was a nice way to go out, if this truly was his last home game with the Flyers. Briere's deal is expected to be bought out or he will be traded in the offseason. He has six goals and 16 points this season. "It's my home," he said. "One of the best places to play. Ask anyone in the NHL. The fans have been amazing." Apr 26 - 10:31 AM

Daniel Briere scored a power play goal for the Flyers in a 2-1 win over the Islanders on Thursday.

Briere has endured a disappointing season marred by a combination of injury and ineffectiveness, but at least he's ending it on the right note. Oliver Lauridsen also found the back of the net for the Flyers in the win.

Thursday's game versus the New York Islanders may be Daniel Briere's last home appearance with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Briere and his sizable cap hit are expected to be traded or bought out during the off-season, but he isn't letting that distract him from finishing out the 2013 campaign. "I'm not thinking about that... things change fast in the hockey world," Briere said after Wednesday's practice. "For me, it's just another game. Nobody knows what's going to happen. I can't start thinking about all those rumors. It's just like at the trade deadline. If you start getting into that trap, it gets you off your game." He has five goals and 15 points in 32 games and hasn't found the back of the net in his last 19 outings.
Apr 24 - 3:36 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers won't make the playoffs, which means at this point they're playing for professional pride.

"We're all professional. We all want to win," Daniel Briere said. "We all want to leave it out there. At this point, obviously we'd prefer playing for a better position in the playoffs. But even though that's now out of the way, we still want to be the best we can be." Philadelphia will play against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.
Apr 15 - 9:45 AM

Danny Briere returned to the lineup Saturday after missing 10 games with a concussion.

"We didn't do enough in the offensive zone to deserve to win," Briere said after the game. Briere also missed the first four games of the season with a hairline fracture of the left wrist and hasnt been able to find the scoresheet with any kind on consistency in 2013. He has only five goals and 13 points in 27 games this season. He's only worth a look in deeper leagues for the stretch run.
Apr 14 - 9:51 AM

Daniel Briere said he's ready to go for the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

Considering the strong possibility of a buyout, it looks like Briere is set to play his final games as a member of the Flyers. He's been a surprisingly decent source of PIMs along with his solid point production in certain seasons, so he can cover more than one base for you if things are going well.
Apr 12 - 2:12 PM

Daniel Briere figures his contract will be bought out at the end of the season.

"Definitely," he said. "It’s reality. There’s no doubt about it. But at the same time, those are things I can’t control at this moment. All I can control is for me to come back into the lineup and play as good as I can, to show them. Other than that, I can’t worry about injuries or what they are going to decide to do. That’s out of my control at this point." The Flyers need to free up some cap space to get under the 2013-14 ceiling of $64.3 million. Briere is only set to make $3 million next season and $2 million in 2014-15 before he would become an unrestricted free agent. However, because his deal was frontloaded, he will come with a $6.5 million cap hit for each of those two seasons. Briere has struggled in recent seasons and is currently out with a concussion, but he's historically been great in the postseason. He has 50 goals and 109 points in 108 career playoffs games.
Apr 11 - 7:59 PM

Daniel Briere (concussion) won't play in Thursday's match versus Ottawa.

He will miss his 10th straight game, but may return Saturday when the Flyers play in Buffalo in matinee contest.
Apr 11 - 2:18 PM

Daniel Briere (concussion) participated in Tuesday's morning skate.

He has practiced for the past two days and could play in Philadelphia's lineup as early as Thursday night against Ottawa. However, a Saturday return may be more likely if he's ready to go given the unstable nature of concussions.
Apr 10 - 11:08 AM

Daniel Briere (concussion) thinks he might be able to return on Saturday.

That being said, Briere also wants to avoid a setback, so he'll probably err on the side of caution. He has five goals and 13 points in 26 games this season.
Apr 8 - 1:43 PM

Philadelphia Flyers place Daniel Briere (concussion) on injured reserve.

Briere is sidelined indefinitely after he crashed into the boards during practice Saturday and suffered a concussion. Given the tricky nature of concussions, it's impossible to know when Briere might be cleared to return this season, if he returns at all.

Daniel Briere will be sidelined indefinitely after being diagnosed with a concussion.

The injury occurred in Saturday's practice when he crashed into the boards during a drill. Briere has been mired in a 13-game goalless slump and his name has come up on trade rumors. However, now that he is out with a concussion it is unlikely that he will be moved anywhere anytime soon.
Mar 25 - 3:53 PM

The upper-body injury Daniel Briere suffered in a Saturday practice is serious enough to keep him out of Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

A rough season just gets a little tougher for Briere. He's averaged just a point every two games (13 in 26) in a 2013 that's been pretty heavy on lows so far.
Mar 24 - 1:44 PM

Daniel Briere was injured in practice Saturday and may not play Sunday.

Briere left the practice with what has been described as an upper body injury by Flyers GM Paul Holmgren. He's listed as day-to-day, making him very questionable for today's contest against the Penguins.
Mar 24 - 11:06 AM

Daniel Briere has no goals in his past 13 games for the Flyers.

The diminutive forward has only 13 points in 26 games on the season and has also been the subject of trade rumours. Briere missed the first four games of the season with a hairline fracture of the left wrist and hasnt been able to find the scoresheet with any kind on consistency in 2013. At this point, Briere should only be owned in deeper leagues.
