Daniel Briere is still not sure if he'll retire this summer.
"I’ll have to start thinking about it more and more in the next couple of weeks," Briere said. Daniel Briere is considering hanging up the skates at 37 years old.

"At some point, you have to take a step back and analyze everything. I will not take the decision alone," Briere said in reference to his three sons. "I just missed two seasons of their hockey, two years of school where I was not there to help them." Briere, a veteran of 973 career games with Phoenix (now Arizona), Buffalo, Philadelphia, Montreal, and most recently Colorado, has been a reliable scoring threat from October to June throughout his career. Briere has amassed 307 goals and 696 points during the regular season, but it's his 53 goals and 116 points over 124 career postseason games that nets the Gatineau, Quebec native his notoriety. If he does come back, it'll likely have to be for a lot less than his $4M salary and cap hit he enjoyed the last two seasons once free agency begins on July 1st. Briere will be 38 in October.

Daniel Briere (foot) was back in the lineup on Thursday night.

It was suspected that he wouldn't be back in the fold this season, but he suited up against Winnipeg and logged just 4:12 of ice time.

Daniel Briere might not be available for Wednesday's game at Edmonton because of a foot injury.

He was hurt when he blocked a shot and was seen limping badly after the game. Briere should be considered doubtful for now.

Mar 24 - 10:20 AM

Daniel Briere will be listed as a healthy scratch once again Wednesday night against Pittsburgh.

He has played in just one game since February 12th and is unfortunately running out of time to make an impact on the young Avalanche team this season. He has played in 48 games this season, registering eight goals and 11 points with a minus six rating and 18 penalty minutes. The former 30-plus goal scorer is no longer an impactful fantasy player. Joey Hishon will make his regular season debut in place of Briere.
Mar 4 - 5:27 PM

Daniel Briere will be scratched against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.

After finally getting out of the stands on Friday night for the first time in six games, Daniel Brier will again sit with the suits. The veteran forward has just eight goals and 11 points through 47 games this season.

Daniel Briere and Zach Redmond will be scratched against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.

It'll be Briere's sixth straight game in the stands. The 37 year old forward has just 11 points in 47 games this season. Redmond meanwhile has put up a nice season with 13 points, 46 hits, and 54 blocks through 38 games this season.

Feb 24 - 7:36 PM

Daniel Briere and Jan Hejda are expected to be scratched against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday night.

It'll be Briere's fifth straight game in the stands. A poor sign for the 37 year old who has just eight goals and 11 points through 47 games this season. Hejda meanwhile has had another steady season as a defensive defenseman. Through 59 games he has 105 blocks and 133 hits to go along with his 32 PIMs and nine points.
Feb 22 - 6:20 PM

Daniel Briere and Stefan Elliott will be scratched again on Friday night, this time versus the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 37 year old Briere has really fallen off. He has just eight goals and 11 points with little else to show for his efforts in 47 games this season. He'll be a free agent after the season. Elliott has played just three games this season. Neither have much fantasy value.

Feb 20 - 8:06 PM

Forward Daniel Briere and defenseman Stefan Elliott will be healthy scratches for the Avalanche Wednesday versus the Kings.

Head coach Patrick Roy will elect to go with the same lineup from Monday and Saturday’s wins, which means Daniel Briere and Stefan Elliott will be watching the game from the press box Wednesday. It’s been a tough year for Briere who has just 11 points in 47 games this season while Elliott has played in only three games this year and has yet to find the score sheet.
Feb 18 - 5:27 PM

Daniel Briere doesn't like it but he's been accepting his reduced role in Colorado this season.

"We're all competitive, so I'd be lying if I told you everything is rosy," Briere said. "At the same time, my goal and I guess my job at this point is to stay ready in case something happens, in case they need me for more minutes or a different role. I try to stay after practice, get some extra work on the ice and in the gym. And it's also showing the young guys the right way to be." He was a healthy scratch for the ninth time this season on Saturday and when he does play it is usually on the fourth line. Briere has 11 points in 47 games this year and he might be scratched again Monday night.
