Alex Tanguay enjoyed a two-point night in the Avalanche’s 3-2 win over the Flames on Saturday.

The 35-year-old has three goals and five points over his past five games, and he’s shown he has something left in the tank this year. He has 19 goals and 45 points. John Mitchell registered the other goal. Tyson Barrie got two helpers.

With 17 goals and 42 points, the 35-year-old veteran has a chance to reach 20 goals for the first time since 2010-11 and set his highest point since that season, too. Matt Duchene, Jarome Iginla and Gabriel Landeskog potted the other goals. Tyson Barrie recorded three assists.

Alex Tanguay will participate in his 1,000th game on Wednesday.

Tanguay has spent a little over half of his NHL career with his current team, the Colorado Avalanche. He has 269 goals and 813 points in 999 contests. At the age of 35, his career is likely winding down, but he is still a significant contributor with 40 points this season.

Alex Tanguay will skate with John Mitchell and Dennis Everberg to form Colorado's third line on Saturday night against Dallas.

Tanguay is having a fine come-back season, having posted 14 goals and 36 points through 53 games thus far. He may not see too many offensive opportunities with these two line mates, but look for Tanger to build on eight power play points if given the opportunity.

Alex Tanguay scored Colorado's only goal in their 2-1 loss to Washington on Monday night.

Tanguay's second period goal was scored on the power play. The 35-year-old is having a decent bounce-back season after being limited to just 16 games one year ago. Alex Tanguay recorded his 800th career point on, what else, a third period assist during Colorado's 5-2 win over Ottawa.

Neither of his helpers on Thursday were spectacular, they were just quality passes to the right man, a man who can put the biscuit in the basket - Jarome Iginla. Through 977 games over 15 seasons (eight with the Avs) Tanguay has 265 goals and 800 points. Not too shabby for the former 12th overall pick in the 1998 Entry Draft.
Jan 9 - 1:23 AM

Alex Tanguay scored a goal and added an assist for the Avalanche in Tuesday's 5-0 shutout win over St. Louis.

Tanguay continues to be one of the more underappreciated players in the fantasy game, as his 24 points would surely be of use to a lot of teams. Jerome Iginla, Erik Johnson, Ryan O'Reilly and Zach Redmond all chipped in with goals for Colorado in the victory.
