Alex Tanguay potted his first goal of the year in Thursday's loss to Ottawa.
It was his first point in five games this season. Colorado's offense has been cold out of gate, but their top players are starting to pick up points. Tanguay should have a productive year as a top-six forward on the Avalanche. Oct 17 - 1:23 PM

Alex Tanguay opened the scoring for Colorado in Monday's 5-2 loss to Anaheim in preseason action.

Tanguay is coming off an injury0riddled campaign that saw him scored 11 points in just 16 contests, but he appears to be healthy again and could go unnoticed in your fantasy draft. Zach Redmond netted the only other goal for the Avs while goaltender Calvin Pickard allowed four goals on 27 shots in the outing.

Alex Tanguay looks healthy and poised to get his career back on track in 2014-15.

He certainly made a good first impression in scrimmages on Friday moving without any difficulties and showing no ill effects from hip and knee injuries that sidelined him last season for all but 16 games. "Last year I was a passenger, watching from the sideline. I was almost a fan. But this year I want to be a part of it, and I'm hoping to contribute quite a bit." Tanguay has a career points-per-game rate of approximately .8. That would translate to a 60-point season. If he stays healthy, we don't see any reason why he can't reach that plateau alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog.

Alex Tanguay skated with his teammates on Tuesday in an informal workout.

He missed most of the 2013-14 campaign because of injury, but we should know more about how feels heading into this season after the Avalanche get together for physicals and other fitness testing on Thursday morning.

If you are looking for a sleeper bounce-back candidate look no further than Alex Tanguay.

He was hampered by a hip injury last season but is apparently healthy now and ticketed to play on a line with Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly. We would not be surprised if Tanguay registered 60 points this season. Given where he sits on many hockey pool lists based on last season's stats, that would make him a tremendous bargain.

Alex Tanguay (hip) was on the ice for Colorado's optional skate on Sunday.

He isn't expected to be back in the lineup until next season, but it's a positive sign that he was able to get back on the ice. Tanguay underwent hip surgery in February and he appeared in just 16 games during the regular season.
Apr 29 - 7:55 AM

Alex Tanguay will have surgery on his hip Friday morning and he's expected to miss the rest of the season.

The issue with his hip contributed to the knee problem that he had been dealing with of late. The Avalanche had a 15-1 record with Tanguay in the lineup and he had 11 points over that span.

Alex Tanguay (knee) missed Friday's practice.

Tanguay will not participate in Saturday's contest. The good news is that the injury isn't believed to be serious at this point and there's a decent chance that he'll be ready when the Olympic break ends.

Alex Tanguay (knee) didn't skate in the morning and missed Thursday's game against Philadelphia.

He received treatment instead. Tanguay has missed four straight games since he re-injured his knee.

Alex Tanguay (knee) will not return to the Avalanche's lineup on Tuesday.

Tanguay only ended up playing in three of four contests before he re-injured his knee. This will be his third straight game on the sidelines.
Feb 4 - 5:33 PM

Alex Tanguay (knee) won't play Monday.

It will be the second straight he has missed since re-injuring his knee. He is listed as day-to-day. Tanguay is with the team on their trip and he could be available for Tuesday's game against the New York Rangers.

There is no update on whether Alex Tanguay will play Saturday afternoon against Buffalo.

He tweaked the same knee that kept him out of action for most of the season. We suspect the Avs will play it cautious with Tanguay and sit him out against the Sabres. If you have a reasonable alternative, we suggest you start him and bench Tanguay at least until next week.
Feb 1 - 1:10 PM

Alex Tanguay wasn't on the ice with the Colorado Avalanche for Friday's practice due to a tweaked knee.

Tanguay sustained the ailment during Thursday's contest. For now he's questionable Saturday, but this is concerning news considering he's missed most of the season due to knee/hip problems.
Jan 31 - 4:04 PM

Coach Patrick Roy is happy to have Alex Tanguay back in the lineup.

"He brings something so important to this team when he's playing with Paul (Stastny) and (Gabe Landeskog)," Roy said. The Avalanche has a 14-1 record when he's been in the lineup. Tanguay, who has a goal and an assist in two games since returning to the fold, has 11 points in 15 games this season.

Jan 30 - 11:24 AM

Alex Tanguay looked pretty good in his return from hip and knee injuries that sidelined him for 36 games but he won't play in back-to-back games so he will sit out Saturday against Tampa.

Taguay skated on a line with Paul Stastny and Gabriel Landeskog and registered an assist in 17:10 minutes of ice time. Tanguay certainly was a bit apprehensive about playing after such a long layoff. "I was nervous, but most of my anxiousness was health-wise," Tanguay said. "But I came out feeling pretty good, so that's the great news for me and I hope it's going to keep going that way." Avs' coach Patrick Roy seemed pretty pleased with Tanguay's performance. "I thought he looked good," Roy said of Tanguay. If Tanguay was discarded during his recovery, you may want to make him a waiver wire target next week.
