Although it was good news that Alex Tanguay did not break his jaw when he was struck by a puck in the face Thursday night, he will be out of action indefinitely with facial fractures.
News coming out of Denver is that Tanguay could need more than a few games to heal to the point where he can wear a shield and play. Reserve the veteran forward immediately. Nov 22 - 12:50 PM

He nearly had the winner in overtime, but he hit the post. Tanguay was promoted to a line with Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly in the contest and the trio performed very well. The veteran winger has three goals and one assist in his last five matches.

Alex Tanguay will skate alongside Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly in Thursday's game against the New York Rangers.

Tanguay has been bounced around the lineup just like most Avalanche players during the team's struggles. He was playing on the third line previously. Tanguay leads the team with six goals in 17 matches.

Nov 7 - 9:01 AM

Alex Tanguay scored a shorthanded marker in the Avalanche's 3-2 shootout loss to San Jose on Tuesday.

The 40 year-old now has five goals and two assists during a six-game point streak. The Avalanche also a got a goal from Gabriel Landeskog while Jan Hejda collected two helpers in a losing cause. The Avs really left their goalie out to the wolves in this game as they were out-shot 51-33 on the night.

Oct 27 - 12:27 PM

Alex Tanguay potted his first goal of the year in Thursday's loss to Ottawa.

It was his first point in five games this season. Colorado's offense has been cold out of gate, but their top players are starting to pick up points. Tanguay should have a productive year as a top-six forward on the Avalanche.
Oct 17 - 1:23 PM

Alex Tanguay opened the scoring for Colorado in Monday's 5-2 loss to Anaheim in preseason action.

Tanguay is coming off an injury0riddled campaign that saw him scored 11 points in just 16 contests, but he appears to be healthy again and could go unnoticed in your fantasy draft. Zach Redmond netted the only other goal for the Avs while goaltender Calvin Pickard allowed four goals on 27 shots in the outing.
Sep 23 - 2:55 AM

Alex Tanguay looks healthy and poised to get his career back on track in 2014-15.

He certainly made a good first impression in scrimmages on Friday moving without any difficulties and showing no ill effects from hip and knee injuries that sidelined him last season for all but 16 games. "Last year I was a passenger, watching from the sideline. I was almost a fan. But this year I want to be a part of it, and I'm hoping to contribute quite a bit." Tanguay has a career points-per-game rate of approximately .8. That would translate to a 60-point season. If he stays healthy, we don't see any reason why he can't reach that plateau alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog.

If you are looking for a sleeper bounce-back candidate look no further than Alex Tanguay.

He was hampered by a hip injury last season but is apparently healthy now and ticketed to play on a line with Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly. We would not be surprised if Tanguay registered 60 points this season. Given where he sits on many hockey pool lists based on last season's stats, that would make him a tremendous bargain.
Sep 13 - 12:44 PM

Alex Tanguay (hip) was on the ice for Colorado's optional skate on Sunday.

He isn't expected to be back in the lineup until next season, but it's a positive sign that he was able to get back on the ice. Tanguay underwent hip surgery in February and he appeared in just 16 games during the regular season.
Apr 29 - 7:55 AM

Alex Tanguay will have surgery on his hip Friday morning and he's expected to miss the rest of the season.

The issue with his hip contributed to the knee problem that he had been dealing with of late. The Avalanche had a 15-1 record with Tanguay in the lineup and he had 11 points over that span.
