Bryan Allen won't play Thursday.
He is being scratched and Sheldon Souray will be back in the lineup in his place. However, this should probably be qualified as just a rest day for the hard-nosed defenseman. Apr 25 - 3:25 PM

After three tough games and a benching, Bryan Allen's game is coming back.

Coach Bruce Boudreau is showing faith in the defenseman and Allen's game has come around as he had an assist and was a plus-one Sunday in a 2-1 loss to Columbus. Allen was minus-seven in three games from March 22-27. "Probably more than I should sometimes," Allen said as to whether he puts too much pressure on himself. "I think that I take pride in trying to be consistent. When things aren't going the way they are. It's a battle sometimes. You just got to try to stay with it. I've been playing long enough in the league, I think you realize it's just little things that you've got to focus on and hard work." Allen has five assists in 29 games with a minus-two rating and 30 penalty minutes this season and has little fantasy value in traditional pools.
Apr 1 - 4:56 AM

Bryan Allen was minus-three for the second game in a row on Monday.

The defensive defenseman now is minus-two on the season with four assists in 26 games. He should not be on your fantasy radar in traditional pools although he could be considered in very deep pools that use blocked shots as he has 40.
Mar 26 - 6:35 AM

Bryan Allen (flu) returned to the Ducks lineup on Tuesday.

Allen missed five games due to the illness. He had had two PIM and a plus-one rating in Anaheim's 2-1 victory.
Mar 13 - 8:29 AM

Bryan Allen (flu) is questionable Tuesday.

Allen has not played since March 1, so the flu is really affecting him. He has no fantasy value.
Mar 12 - 10:21 AM

Bryan Allen has now missed three consecutive games with flu-like symptoms.

Allen played in 82 games in each of his previous two seasons and took part in Anaheim's first 19 contests in 2013. He should be considered day-to-day.
Mar 7 - 8:37 AM

Bryan Allen, who had been a healthy scratch for two games, is actually deal with flu-like symptoms.

Allen's status for Wednesday's game against the Coyotes is up in the air. Coach Bruce Boudreau said there was "a chance" Allen could play against Phoenix, but we're guessing we'll have to wait for the morning skate before we know anything.
Mar 6 - 9:53 AM

Defenseman Bryan Allen was a healthy scratch for the second game in a row Monday.

The Ducks have been rotating a defenseman in and out of the lineup since Cam Fowler returned to the lineup on Feb. 24. Look for Allen to draw back in the lineup as the Ducks have lost their last two games in a shootout after starting the season at 15-3-1 with Allen on the blueline. Allen has little fantasy value with only two assists and a plus-two rating to go with 21 penalty minutes but you cannot argue with Anaheim's record when he plays.
Mar 5 - 5:22 AM

Bryan Allen will be the stay-at-home defenseman that the Ducks have been lacking since the departure of Chris Pronger.

Allen was fourth in the NHL in blocked shots with 188 last season and also had 111 hits, two stats that the Ducks were missing from their blueline in 2011-12. The six foot, five inch, blueliner will also give Anaheim close to 20 minutes per night and will be very good in the dressing room mentoring the Ducks young rearguards. He has little fantasy value unless your pool uses blocked shots and hits as he should get 15-20 points if he can avoid an injury.

Bryan Allen has agreed to a three-year/$10.5 million deal with the Anaheim Ducks.

Allen had 111 hits and 188 blocked shots in 82 games with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2011-12. From an offensive standpoint, he's only expected to get 10-20 points next season.

GM Jim Rutherford reiterated that Bryan Allen is expected to test the free agent waters.

Allen is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He's primarily a defensive defenseman who recorded 111 hits and 188 blocked shots in 82 games in 2011-12.

Bryan Allen isn't expected to be signed, according to GM Jim Rutherford, prior to July 1.

The veteran defenseman will be permitted to test the market as an unrestricted free agent. Allen recorded 13 points, 111 hits, 188 blocks and 76 penalty minutes in 82 games with the Hurricanes this past season.

It was Allen's first goal of the season. This win helps Carolina in the tough battle for the eighth playoff spot in the East.

The Carolina Hurricanes don't plan on trading Bryan Allen.

Allen is one of those defensemen that has more value to his team than he does to most fantasy owners. He's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, but Carolina is interested in re-signing him.
Mon, Feb 27, 2012 01:28:00 PM

The Carolina Hurricanes' attempts to re-sign Bryan Allen haven't gone well.

Allen has eight points and 56 penalty minutes in 61 games this season. If they can't come to terms with him too, they might seriously investigate the possibility of trading him.
