Scott Hannan will probably get the nod over rookie Matt Tennyson to play Wednesday night in Game 1 against Vancouver.
"We will have to make that decision still," said coach Todd McLellan. "Come game time, we'll still be making it. We'll look at what their lineup is like throughout warmup. We have an idea, but we're not sure. We'll go with an inexperienced puck-mover, or we'll go with a ton of experience." Hannan appeared to be the team's choice judging from the morning skate and he would make sense given his experience. May 1 - 4:49 PM

Date:

Scott Hannan was back in the San Jose lineup Sunday.

Hannan was paired with Brad Stuart as Jason Demers was unable to go with an undisclosed injury. He is a solid defenseman but has little to no fantasy value.
Apr 22 - 10:09 AM

Scott Hannan played in his first game with San Jose since being acquired from the Nashville Predators at the April 3 deadline.

Hannan had been dealing with a neck injury. He had a plus-one rating in 17:39 minutes to help San Jose earn a 3-2 shootout victory on Tuesday.
Apr 17 - 10:37 AM

The San Jose Sharks activated Scott Hannan (upper body) off injured reserve Monday.

Hannan is ready to go but was a healthy scratch on Monday. He was dealt to the Sharks at the deadline from Nashville and will be a depth defenseman in San Jose.
Apr 16 - 11:06 AM

Scott Hannan (upper body) has been traded to the San Jose Sharks for a conditional sixth or seventh round pick.

Hannan will provide a defensive presence on the blueline for the Sharks once he returns from his upper body injury that he suffered on March 17. He had been cleared to play last week so the Sharks could use him immediately. He has little if any fantasy value but could be a good fifth or sixth defenseman with San Jose.
Apr 3 - 12:47 PM

Scott Hannan (upper body) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

Hannan hasn't played since March 17, so he can be activated at any time. This move is interesting though seeing as previous reports suggested that he was cleared to play.
Mar 29 - 2:58 PM

Scott Hannan has been cleared to play again after being sidelined since March 17 with an upper-body injury.

However, he may not get back into Nashville's lineup Thursday because coach Barry Trotz has been satisfied with his defense group. "That will be a coach's choice," Trotz said.
Mar 27 - 6:00 PM

Scott Hannan (upper body) skated on Monday.

Hannan has been out since March 17 and the Predators could use his veteran presence on their blueline. "It's a tough season for anything. Nagging injuries … it's tough to recover sometimes," Hannan said. "I hate to say it, but especially as you get older. I'm better every day. Skated the last few days and it's getting there." Still consider him day-to-day for now.
Mar 26 - 10:45 AM

Scott Hannan (upper body) will not play Tuesday night.

Hannan suffered an upper-body injury during the first period of Sunday's game. He has no fantasy value so this update is more of an FYI than anything else.
Mar 19 - 4:35 PM

Scott Hannan suffered an upper body injury in the first period Sunday and did not return.

Just an FYI as Hannan has no fantasy value with only one assist and a minus-11 rating in 20 games for the Predators this season. Consider him day-to-day.
Mar 18 - 9:39 AM

Scott Hannan got into his first NHL fight since the 2007-08 season in the opener Saturday.

Hannan went to the defense of teammate Kevin Klein when Columbus tough guy Derek Dorsett went after Klein. This move will make Hannan very popular in the Nashville dressing room and with Predator fans.
Jan 21 - 10:36 AM

Scott Hannan says that he has been bonding with his new Nashville teammates during the lockout.

Hannan was signed by Nashville in the off-season. He has been in the NHL for 12 seasons with stops in San Jose, Colorado, Washington and Calgary. "You get to know guys away from the rink. They say when you first get out on the road there's a little bit of bonding," Hannan said. "Getting to know the guys a little bit better, it has been good." Hannan is a defensive defenseman who has yet to score more than six goals in any NHL season and as such is not worth owning in traditional fantasy pools.

Scott Hannan has started practicing with some of his teammates in Nashville.

Hannan recently joined Hal Gill, Mike Fisher, Shea Weber, Martin Erat, Brian McGrattan, Matt Halischuk and Nick Spaling for informal workouts. It should help once the two sides in the NHL lockout reach an agreement.

Scott Hannan thinks highly of the Nashville Predators after signing with them over the summer.

"Obviously you look at the success (Nashville) has had over the last three years, it seems like a good organization," Hannan said. "They treat their players well, it’s a good place to live, it’s all things you take into account — a chance to compete every year for the Stanley Cup was a big motivation." He only inked a one-year deal with them, so he might miss his opportunity to play in Nashville if this lockout ends up killing the 2012-13 campaign. Hannan has traditionally been able to avoid major injuries, which is a big deal if the season is saved because we'll probably end up with a condensed schedule that will increase the risk of injuries.

Scott Hannan has signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Nashville Predators.

The Predators are expected to give some of their younger blueliners a shot at regular ice time in 2012-13, but adding a veteran like Hannan provides further depth and some stability if that decision doesn't work out. Hannan skated in 78 games with Calgary last season, while posting 12 points, 126 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating.
