The San Jose Sharks won't be re-signing defenseman Scott Hannan.
Hannan was a very effective defenseman in his prime, but those days are clearly behind him. The 36-year-old had two goals and seven points in 58 games with the Sharks. He may be able to latch on as a depth player on another team. Fri, Jun 19, 2015 07:19:00 PM

Scott Hannan would like to continue his NHL career, but it might not come with San Jose.

The Sharks probably won't bring him back for another season. There's also a chance that Hannan could change his mind and retire if he doesn't get much interest as a free agent. In 58 games this past campaign, the 36-year-old defender posted seven points and 69 blocks, while averaging 16:18 of ice time.

Scott Hannan (undisclosed) won't play Monday night.

He took a puck to the face on April 1 against Colorado and he's already missed two games. Hannan doesn't have any fantasy value.

Scott Hannan has been named the San Jose's nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy.

The Masterton Trophy is awarded annually to the player that "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey." The 36-year-old played in his 1,000 game earlier in the season. "It’s an honor to be able to be able to play as long as I have," Hannan said. "I owe that to a lot of people, coaches and family."

Scott Hannan took a puck to face and had to be rushed off for repairs in the third period of San Jose's win over Colorado on Wednesday.

The incident occurred just to the left of the San Jose net on a clearing attempt. Hannan, 36, went straight to the dressing room holding the left side of his face. Considering he was cut in the eye just recently it could be safe to assume that he reopened and old wound. We will pass along an update when there is one. He scored and was a plus-1 on the night in 14:08 of ice-time.

Scott Hannan was cut under the eye following a hit from Flyers forward Nick Cousins.

He left Saturday’s game at 7:23 of the third period and didn’t return. San Jose played a majority of the game without Marc-Eduoard Vlasic after he left injured, so they spent a good portion with only four defenseman. He played 17:12 on Saturday with two penalty minutes. Hannan is questionable for Sunday's game.

Scott Hannan isn't paying too much attention to the looming trade deadline.

"I don't even think about it. You just control what you can out there," Hannan said. "There are things you can't control. You just play. Right now the focus is on winning games here, and that’s really all you can do. That’s how I've approached the trade deadline since I've been in the league." With the Sharks' chances of making the playoffs slowly slipping, there's been speculation that Hannan might be moved. The Pittsburgh Penguins have been listed as a potential destination.
