Jaroslav Spacek is apparently willing to re-sign with the Carolina Hurricanes, but GM Jim Rutherford said that kind of move would be "premature" for the team at this time.

The veteran defenseman will be an unrestricted free agent if the Hurricanes don't give him a new deal prior to July 1. Rutherford said earlier this month that the organization probably wouldn't get a contract done with Spacek before free agency began and it looks like he is sticking with that plan for now.
