Eric Brewer (broken foot) could begin skating on his own in the near future.
Brewer broke a bone in his foot on December 1 and it was thought at the time that he would be out four-six weeks, but that was optimistic. It has already been almost six weeks and while there is no timetable for his return, he is just beginning to get back on the ice. He has played in only two games for the Ducks this season as he was acquired from the Lightning after playing 17 games for Tampa Bay. His four assists in 19 games will not help your fantasy squad. Eric Brewer is dealing with a foot injury.

Brewer suffered the injury during Monday's game and underwent tests on Tuesday. He was acquired by the Ducks on Nov. 28 from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a 2015 third-round draft pick.

Eric Brewer made his Anaheim debut Saturday.

The Ducks were in need of a veteran defenseman and traded their third round pick they received in the Viktor Fasth to Edmonton trade, to acquire Brewer on Friday. The 35-year-old had played 982 NHL games, almost 700 games more than the next 'veteran' on the Ducks blueline, Cam Fowler who was playing in his 289th contest. Brewer was even in 15:07 minutes of playing time Saturday.

Look for Eric Brewer to be in the Anaheim lineup on Saturday.

The Ducks acquired Brewer on Friday as their blueline has been decimated by injuries and the mumps. Brewer will chew up some minutes for the Ducks but do not expect a lot of scoring from the 35-year-old veteran.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded Eric Brewer to the Anaheim Ducks for a 2015 third-round draft pick.

Brewer has spent four of the Lightning's last five games in the press box and that's with Victor Hedman (finger) on the sidelines. Hedman is expected to return soon, so it makes sense for the Lightning to trade Brewer. Brewer comes with a $3.875 million annual cap hit and is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Eric Brewer will be a healthy scratch on Wednesday.

It will be the fourth time in the past five games that he's watched from the press box. "It's very hard on him, this is a very proud man who has played well for us," associate coach Rick Bowness said. "With the depth that we have, the guys that are sitting are not playing their way out of the lineup. It's a case that we have depth and we are trying to use everyone."

Eric Brewer and Vladislav Namestnikov will be healthy scratches for Saturday night's game against Minnesota.

Mark Barbeiro and Cedric Paquette will draw into the Bolts' lineup. Tampa has lost two games in a row and coach Jon Cooper is obviously looking to shake up a few things.

Eric Brewer is expected to make his season debut on Monday.

Brewer spent the first two games of the 2014-15 campaign in the press box. He understandably wasn't pleased with Lightning coach Jon Cooper's decision to keep him out of the lineup, but the bench boss was pleased with how Brewer handled the situation. "The one thing about Brew is he’s a pro, he works his tail off and waits for his chance," Cooper said.
