Former Predators forward J.P. Dumont is practicing with a number of his old teammates during the lockout in an effort to latch on with an NHL club.
Dumont's contract was bought out by the Preds prior to last season and he signed on with Bern of the Swiss league, where he recorded 31 points in 31 games. His ultimate goal is to return to the NHL, where he could still be a useful power-play specialist. Sun, Sep 23, 2012 10:09:00 AM

J.P. Dumont could draw into the Nashville lineup for Game 4 Thursday.

It appears that coach Barry Trotz will decide between Dumont and Colin Wilson as to who will replace the injured Steve Sullivan in the lineup. Dumont played in the last two games of the opening round series against the Ducks, garnering an assist, but has been a healthy scratch in the first three games of the Vancouver series. Stay tuned.

J.P. Dumont made his series debut versus Anaheim on Friday night in Game 5.

He had been a healthy scratch before subbing in for injured forward Martin Erat. Dumont skated for nearly seven minutes of total ice time in Nashville's 4-3 overtime triumph over the Ducks. He helped send the game into overtime as an extra attacker with a screen in front of Anaheim goalie Ray Emery on Shea Weber's game-tying score with 35.3 seconds remaining.

J.P. Dumont could be inserted into Nashville's lineup for Game 5 if Martin Erat can't play.

Cal O'Reilly is another option, but he would be a center replacing a winger so that might not be what coach Barry Trotz is looking for. Colin Wilson might be in line to take his spot as well. Erat was injured in the third period on Wednesday night after taking a hit from Anaheim's Jarkko Ruutu. We'll keep you posted.

J.P. Dumont was slated to be a healthy scratch for the Predators on Tuesday night, but due to an injury to Joel Ward, he ended up playing against Los Angeles.

Dumont had suited up in one the Nashville's previous seven games, but on short notice and only 9:09 of ice time he managed to score his 10th goal of the season. The 32-year-old has had a tough season with just 18 points in 62 contests.

J.P. Dumont has spent four straight games in the press box.

"It's the time of the season that … it's hard, you want to be a part of it," Dumont said. "Now it's just get ready for the playoffs and when I'm going to be in I'm going to be ready. That's the way I have to look at it." Coach Barry Trotz has been pleased with how Dumont has been handling the situation. Dumont has been working hard in practice, so maybe he'll find his way back into the lineup in the near future.

J.P. Dumont was a healthy scratch on Thursday for the third straight game.

Coach Barry Trotz has a lot more confidence in rookies Blake Geoffrion and Matt Halischuk than the veteran Dumont. If he is still on your roster, it looks like a good time to rid yourself of Dumont.

J.P. Dumont spent Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to San Jose in the press box.

It was the first time coach Barry Trotz made Dumont a healthy scratch this season, but it doesn't sound like Dumont did anything to provoke it. Dumont could simply be losing ground in the depth charts now that the Predators have Mike Fisher and Marcel Goc and Marek Svatos are healthy. Dumont hasn't had any fantasy value this season and we don't see that changing for the remainder of 2010-11.

J.P. Dumont (neck) returned to action on Wednesday.

Dumont missed one game with the injury. He saw fourth line duty and managed a shot on goal in only 9:20 minutes of playing time. He has nine goals and 17 points in 49 games this season with little fantasy value.

J.P. Dumont missed Monday's game due to a neck injury.

The good news is coach Barry Trotz expects Dumont to be available for Wednesday's contest. He has nine goals and eight assists in 48 games this season.

J.P. Dumont scores 3 goals in the Predators 5-2 victory over the Coyotes Tuesday night.

Dumont earned his ninth goal of the season, while receiving two goals from teammate Patric Hornqvist and two assists from Matt Halischuck in the win.

J.P. Dumont scored a pair of goals, but the Predators were defeated 6-3 by the Blackhawks on Sunday night.

It has been a dreadful season for Dumont, as the two goals he scored tonight only bring his total to six. Based on the production he has provided, he shouldn`t be owned in any fantasy leagues. Martin Erat was the only other goal scorer for Nashville in this contest.

J.P Dumont scored the game winner as Nashville beat Detroit 3-2 on Wednesday.

Dumont’s fourth goal of the season proved to be the game winner. The Predators seem to always spread out their offense. They got goals from Martin Erat and Colin Wilson as well. Marcel Goc contributed with an assist and a plus-two rating.

J.P. Dumont has seen limited action for the Predators the past few games.

His ice time has dropped below 10 minutes the last three contests and he played a mere 4:30 against Carolina on Saturday night. Coach Barry Trotz was asked about Dumont's game and he had this to say: "He's doing everything as a pro. He's one of those guys, he's a great person and a great pro. When he gets away from the details of the game, it hurts him. He has to skate all the time. That's his key. The game has changed a lot. If you look at J.P., that's not his strength – his overall skating. His strength is some of the offensive instincts, so the game has really gone quickly, and when he's not skating, he's not as effective as he can be. He's working on his game. He has fallen off a little bit and he's trying to pick it up. I'm not too worried about him."
