Scott Gomez and Chris Butler will be scratched from Tuesday's game with the Kings.

While Butler has seen just a single game of action so far, Gomez has had a nice season. The veteran center has a goal and three points in seven games while averaging 10:38 a night. Not too shabby for the hockey lifer at age 36.

Nov 3 - 7:30 PM

Scott Gomez scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Tampa Bay.

Gomez tipped in a Colton Parayko shot from the point to open the scoring in the first period. Troy Brouwer eventually added an empty netter in the late stages of the game to put to game out of reach. Gomez has one goal and one assist in five games this season. He won't have any fantasy value going forward.
Oct 27 - 11:28 PM

Ken Hitchcock said Scott Gomez was "OK" in his Blues debut against Vancouver on Friday.

"He was OK," Hitchcock said. "He didn’t get to play a lot. Between killing penalties and injuries, he didn’t get to play much. But he was as advertised. He’s a gifted offensive player. He’s got great vision on the ice. He makes plays." Gomez should see more action now that Paul Stastny is sidelined with a lower-body injury.
Oct 18 - 11:02 AM

Scott Gomez is expected to slide up the lineup with Paul Stastny out indefinitely with a lower-body injury.

It’s never going to be easy replacing your top-line center. It’s very unlikely coach Ken Hitchcock will use Gomez in that role, with perhaps everyone shifting up to see Gomez in the third-line center spot. Gomez made his season debut Friday, getting a shot on goal in 7:14.
Oct 17 - 8:27 PM

Scott Gomez will play in his first game with St. Louis Friday night at Vancouver.

It's unknown who will be coming out of the lineup, but it will probably be someone on the fourth line. Gomez has been scratched for the first four games of the season after he made the team out of training camp on a PTO.
Oct 16 - 2:18 PM

Scott Gomez is a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against Edmonton.

Chris Butler will also be held out of the game for the same reason. Gomez was signed to a contract after joining Blues camp on a PTO. The 35-year-old hasn't skated in a game this season. He has no fantasy value.
Oct 15 - 9:15 PM

Scott Gomez and Robert Bortuzzo will be healthy scratches for the Blues as they take on the Canucks on Tuesday night.

Gomez certainly has no fantasy value left in the tank, but who could blame a passionate fantasy owner and Gomez fan for wanting to dip into nostalgia now and then? Well, maybe a Rangers or Habs fan. Either way, Bortuzzo amassed a healthy dose of tough guy stats last season with Pittsburgh and St. Louis, 93 PIMs, 61 hits, and 157 blocks.
Oct 13 - 8:38 PM

Scott Gomez will be a healthy scratch in the Blues' opener on Thursday.

Gomez had seven goals and 34 points in 58 contests with the New Jersey Devils last season. Despite that respectable showing he couldn't secure a contract this summer. Instead he ended up inking a two-way contract with the Blues after attending their camp on a tryout basis.
Oct 8 - 2:19 PM

Scott Gomez has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the St. Louis Blues.

He will make $575,000 in the NHL and $200,000 if he goes to the AHL. Gomez earned his contract after attending training camp on a professional tryout. He posted seven goals and 34 points in 58 games with New Jersey last year.
Oct 7 - 11:07 AM

Scott Gomez had a root canal after taking a high stick in Tuesday's preseason game versus Columbus.

He didn't practice on Wednesday as a result. Gomez is attending St. Louis' training camp on a professional tryout, so he cannot afford to miss time due to injury. The good news for him is that the ailment didn't take him out of the game.
Sep 23 - 4:20 PM

Scott Gomez will attend training camp with the St. Louis Blues on a professional tryout.

He generated seven goals and 34 points in 58 games with the New Jersey Devils last season. Gomez and new assistant GM Martin Brodeur have a relationship from their days with the Devils organization, which may have played a part in this opportunity. Patrik Berglund's shoulder injury will give him a chance to get an NHL deal with the Blues.
Aug 27 - 1:35 PM

The New Jersey Devils aren't going to bring Scott Gomez back for the 2015-16 season.

The 35-year-old performed surprisingly well with the Devils, generating seven goals and 34 points in 58 games. It's understandable that the Devils might want to move on, but perhaps he's earned a chance to catch on with another team.
Jun 27 - 7:29 PM

New Jersey Devils GM Ray Shero is still "hasn't made any decisions" on the team's crop of UFA's.

The crop includes veteran forwards Michael Ryder, Martin Havlat, Scott Gomez, Steve Bernier, who are in addition to defensemen Mark Fraser, Peter Harrold, and captain Bryce Salvador. Considering how poorly each of these players have performed the last couple of seasons, it's easy to see why Shero may be hesitant to re-sign them.

Scott Gomez's agent, Ian Pulver, has had some initial contact from GM Ray Shero on contract talks.

However, there has been "nothing to report" on that front recently. The Devils haven't decided what to do with several of their free agents yet, so Gomez still could be back with the team next season. He notched seven goals and 34 points in 58 games last campaign in his return to New Jersey.
