Since returning from a groin injury, Scott Gomez has barely been used by the Florida Panthers.

Gomez has only participated in one of the Panthers' last 10 contests. When he has played this season, he's averaging just 13:43 minutes per contest. He's been on a downward slope for a while and at the age of 34, there's very little reason to own him even in deeper leagues.

In Friday night's game against the Penguins Scott Gomez played on a line featuring Jonathan Huberdeau and Kris Versteeg.

Gomez has played well in his limited stint with the Cats and he is getting the opportunity to play a prominent role with the team. Scott Gomez is looking to take on a veteran leadership role with the Florida Panthers.

Gomez benefited greatly in his early days with the New Jersey Devils from their veterans like Joe Nieuwendyk, Scott Stevens, Bobby Holik and Scott Niedermayer and hopes to do the same for Panther youngsters such as Aleksander Barkov, Justin Huberdeau and Erik Gudbranson. Gomez was a scoring forward during his Devils days but at age 33, those days are long gone and a 25-30 point season is the best anyone could hope for. He is not worth drafting unless in the deepest of leagues and it should be very, very deep.
