Gomez was initially questionable due to the illness. He has five goals and 23 points in 37 games this season.
Feb 27 - 5:38 PM

Scott Gomez is "very questionable" for Friday's game due to the flu.

Gomez has five goals and 23 points in 37 games in 2014-15. His absence would compound the loss of Jaromir Jagr, who was dealt to the Florida Panthers on Thursday. Michael Ryder and Martin Havlat might both come out of the press box.
Feb 27 - 11:19 AM

Scott Gomez scored a goal in the Devils' 3-0 victory against Arizona on Monday.

Gomez has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last six games. He has reinvigorated his career in New Jersey with five goals and 23 points in 38 contests in 2014-15.
Feb 24 - 10:23 AM

Scott Gomez picked up another assist on Saturday and is now tied with Bobby Holik for fifth place in points in all-time New Jersey franchise history.

Gomez is only four points shy of Scott Niedermayer for fourth on the list. Gomez has 472 points in a New Jersey uniform and now has 22 points in 35 games this season.
Feb 22 - 7:52 AM

Scott Gomez picked up an assist on Friday.

It was the center's 471st point as a New Jersey Devil and he is now one point away from tying Bobby Holik for fifth place all-time in franchise history. Gomez has four goals and 21 points in 34 games this season. His name has been mentioned in trade talk so he may not have a chance to move into fifth spot this season.
Feb 21 - 8:31 AM

Scott Gomez could be on the move from New Jersey at the trade deadline.

Gomez has rebounded this season after scoring only two goals in each of the last three seasons and no more than 15 points, as he has four goals and 20 points in only 32 games. Teams could be looking for a playmaking center as they head into the playoffs and Gomez could be an inexpensive trade for someone on March 2.
Feb 15 - 8:22 AM

Scott Gomez missed his second straight practice on Wednesday.

The Devils are downplaying that by saying Gomez is "resting," but it's entirely possible that he's dealing with an injury. Although this might prove to be nothing, we're going to err on the side of caution by listing him as day-to-day.
Feb 11 - 11:14 AM

Gm Lou Lamoriello thinks that Scott Gomez can play in the NHL next season.

Lamoriello would not go so far as to say it would be with the Devils however. "The way Scotty is approaching it, he's doing everything he can to have success each and every night. He's not worrying about tomorrow," Lamoriello said. "And he's taking care of himself. He's in tremendous shape physically. He made that commitment last summer. That was the understanding we had prior to training camp: 'If you're going to try this, then you have to make a commitment away from the rink.' It's obvious he did that." Gomez has four goals and 18 points in 29 games this season.
Feb 8 - 9:42 AM

Scott Gomez picked up a pair of assists to help the New Jersey Devils upset the Sharks 5-2 in San Jose Monday night.

Gomez produced his 11th assist of the season on Steve Bernier's sixth goal of the season and the veteran center posted his 12th assist on Mike Cammalleri's 15th goal. Also scoring goals for the Devils were Jordin Tootoo (fourth), Travis Zajac (eighth) and Jacob Josefson (second). Josefson's goal was shorthanded. The Sharks took a 1-0 lead in this game but the Devils were ahead 2-1 by the end of the first period and 3-2 after the second. Adam Henrique also notched two assists for New Jersey and now has 15 helpers on the season.
Jan 20 - 12:59 AM

Scott Gomez has turned his career around since rejoining the Devils.

Gomez's career went on a downward path not long after he left New Jersey following the 2006-2007 campaign. It got to the point where he recorded just 12 points in 46 games with Florida last season. In 2014-15, he has four goals and 14 points in 22 games. "I'm in the place now I want to be," said Gomez. "I'm glad to be back. I believe in this team and I'm glad I could come back. This is where I wanted to be. I proved that waiting. This is where I play my best hockey."
Jan 19 - 10:43 AM

Scott Gomez scored a goal in New Jersey's 3-2 overtime loss to the Islanders on Friday.

Surprisingly, Gomez has produced a fair amount since being signed by the Devils in early December. Many thought the 35-year-old's career was over after average stints in Montreal, San Jose and Florida in the last few years. Gomez now has four goals in just over a month of action, tying his total from his last two seasons combined. He has 12 points in 20 games this season.
Jan 9 - 10:31 PM

Scott Gomez had a goal and two assists on Saturday.

Gomez has his offensive mojo back this season as he has three goals and 11 points in 17 games after getting 12, 15 and 11 in his last three seasons. He combined with linemates Jaromir Jagr and Adam Henrique for an eight point performance in a 5-2 win over the Flyers. Gomez is getting to be fantasy relevant at the age of 35.
Jan 4 - 7:25 AM

New Jersey Devils forward Scott Gomez enters the 1,000th regular season game of his NHL career.

Gomez spent the bulk of his best years with the Devils, so it's fitting that he'll hit this milestone during his second tour in New Jersey. If he uses this as inspiration, Adam Henrique and Jaromir Jagr may benefit as his linemates.

Scott Gomez continued to play well for the New Jersey Devils, collecting two points in the team's 3-2 shootout loss to the Devils on Long Island Monday night.

Gomez, 34, now has six points in eight games. He also assisted on Marek Zidlicky's fourth goal of the season. Zidlicky had two points himself, assisting on Gomez's goal. Gomez also scored a pretty goal in the shootout. The Devils got both of their goals in the first period. They open a four-game homestand with a game against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.
