Scott Gomez continued to play well for the New Jersey Devils, collecting two points in the team's 3-2 shootout loss to the Devils on Long Island Monday night.
Gomez, 34, now has six points in eight games. He also assisted on Marek Zidlicky's fourth goal of the season. Zidlicky had two points himself, assisting on Gomez's goal. Gomez also scored a pretty goal in the shootout. The Devils got both of their goals in the first period. They open a four-game homestand with a game against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday. Scott Gomez scored for the Devils, who lost 4-3 against the Stars on Saturday night.

Just like old times for the 34-year-old. Per the Devils, it was Gomez’s first goal with New Jersey since March 28, 2007. It’s not only amazing he’s found a team to play for after barely sticking in recent seasons, but he’s also centering the Devils’ top line. Gomez has four points in seven games. Eric Gelinas and Jonathon Merrill picked up the other goals. Adam Henrique recorded two assists.

Scott Gomez had an assist in a 4-1 loss to Philadelphia on Thursday.

Gomez has three assists in six games. The injury-depleted Devils have leaned on him heavily since he inked a one-year contract with Gomez averaging 18:28 minutes per contest.
Dec 12 - 10:45 AM

Scott Gomez and his Devils teammates were shut out by the Penguins by a score of 1-0 Tuesday night.

Gomez skated for over 22 minutes in his season debut, a number that certainly increased as a result of injuries suffered by Jaromir Jagr, Patrik Elias and Stephen Gionta in the loss. Despite the possibility of significant ice time, Gomez has no fantasy value at the moment.
Dec 2 - 10:43 PM

Look for Scott Gomez to make his season debut on Tuesday.

Gomez agreed to terms with New Jersey on Monday. He had two goals and 12 points in 46 games with Florida last season.
Dec 2 - 1:00 PM

Scott Gomez might make his season debut on Tuesday.

Gomez signed with the Devils on Monday. He took part in the team's training camp on a tryout basis and has been practicing with them since then. He'll provide the team with some added depth, but his days as a serious offensive threat are likely behind him.
Dec 2 - 11:01 AM

Scott Gomez has been signed by the New Jersey Devils.

He attended training camp on a professional tryout and he has been practicing with the Devils as an unsigned player ever since. He skated with Patrik Elias and Jaromir Jagr during Monday's session and could make his season debut on Tuesday.
Dec 1 - 1:26 PM

Scott Gomez could be signed to a contract by the New Jersey Devils if the injuries to Travis Zajac and Adam Henrique are significant enough.

Gomez has been skating with the Devils since training camp but with a couple of injuries Friday night against Detroit, the Devils could be in big trouble and may need to sign Gomez. Stay tuned.
Nov 29 - 8:38 AM

Scott Gomez is still skating with the Devils.

Gomez took part in New Jersey's training camp, but he didn't secure a contract with the squad. He's stuck around in hopes that they would eventually work something out, but we're now a quarter of the way through the season and nothing's happened yet.
Nov 28 - 10:43 AM

Scott Gomez is willing to continue to wait and see if a roster spot eventually opens up for him with the Devils.

Gomez attended the Devils' training camp, but with the first month of the season in the books, he remains unsigned. "I know what I got into," Gomez said. "It's only been 11 games for the team. Being here with the coaches and everything, I've felt like I've been a part of it. The worst thing I'd want to do is get in the way." Although he might be a solid bottom-six forward if he signs with the Devils, his days of being a significant fantasy contributor are behind him.
Nov 4 - 6:04 PM

While Scott Gomez continues to skate, he has still not signed a deal with the New Jersey Devils.

The Devils are off to a 3-1 start and there have yet to be any openings at center for the diminutive veteran. "I’m just skating every day. Staying in shape," Gomez said after practice Friday. "I knew what it was like coming in. The main thing is to keep sharp," he said. "The season is young. The team is doing well. I just want that to continue."
Oct 18 - 7:44 AM

The New Jersey Devils aren't interested in signing Scott Gomez - at least not yet.

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello has asked Gomez if he'll continue to practice with the team as an unsigned player. The idea is that New Jersey might sign Gomez down the road if an opening presents itself.
Oct 7 - 10:54 AM

Scott Gomez (wrist) hopes that he has played well enough to stick with the New Jersey Devils.

Gomez is on a professional tryout with the Devils and has two goals and a helper in three pre-season games. "It was a little stinger. They just wanted to make sure it was fine," Gomez said about his wrist injury. "It didn’t affect the play. I’ve seen too many guys with worse injuries that they never complained about it. That would be a slap in their face if I would even start [complaining]. They just wanted to make sure everything was fine and it is." The Devils still have nine players to cut and Gomez is obviously hoping he is not one of them.
Oct 4 - 7:36 AM

Scott Gomez has been dealing with a wrist injury, but it's not believed to be serious.

Gomez stayed off the ice for two days, but he's expected to practice with the Devils on Wednesday. He's trying to earn a roster spot after joining the Devils' training camp on a tryout basis.
Oct 1 - 8:36 AM

Devils fans booed Scott Gomez early in Sunday's preseason contest.

Gomez is on a tryout contract in the hopes of making the team. It's quite the fall from grace for him after he once bolted from New Jersey to the rival New York Rangers on a monster seven-year, $51.5 million deal. Gomez added that some fans confronted him during the team's warmups. "I got some guy telling me where to go right away, Jersey style," he said. "That was going to be expected, but it is what it is. That's being back in Jersey, that's for sure." He seemed to win some fans over with his two-goal performance in the exhibition game.
