The New Jersey Devils aren't going to bring Scott Gomez back for the 2015-16 season.

The 35-year-old performed surprisingly well with the Devils, generating seven goals and 34 points in 58 games. It's understandable that the Devils might want to move on, but perhaps he's earned a chance to catch on with another team.
Jun 27 - 7:29 PM

New Jersey Devils GM Ray Shero is still "hasn't made any decisions" on the team's crop of UFA's.

The crop includes veteran forwards Michael Ryder, Martin Havlat, Scott Gomez, Steve Bernier, who are in addition to defensemen Mark Fraser, Peter Harrold, and captain Bryce Salvador. Considering how poorly each of these players have performed the last couple of seasons, it's easy to see why Shero may be hesitant to re-sign them.

Scott Gomez's agent, Ian Pulver, has had some initial contact from GM Ray Shero on contract talks.

However, there has been "nothing to report" on that front recently. The Devils haven't decided what to do with several of their free agents yet, so Gomez still could be back with the team next season. He notched seven goals and 34 points in 58 games last campaign in his return to New Jersey.
Jun 18 - 12:07 PM

Scott Gomez had been playing through a wrist injury.

It's not clear how long his wrist was bothering him. He won't need surgery though and his wrist will presumably be fine by the time the Devils' training camp starts. He had seven goals and 34 points in 58 contests in 2014-15.
Apr 21 - 11:25 AM

The NHL assessed the maximum fine to New Jersey Devils forward Scott Gomez for elbowing Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin.

Gomez will be short $1,478.49 for the infraction, which earned him 15 PIM. Gomez has been surprisingly effective relative to expectations this season, and getting a big chunk of PIM in fantasy playoff time is quite the bump.
Apr 4 - 12:49 PM

Scott Gomez picked up 15 penalty minutes and was tossed from the game for his elbow on Alexei Emelin.

Gomez is not a penalty minute player as he had only eight minutes in 53 games heading into action on Friday. The good news is that Emelin was able to continue and played the remainder of the game.
Apr 4 - 7:47 AM

Scott Gomez picked up his seventh goal of the season when he put home the Eric Gelinas off-angle rebound. Unfortunately, the Devils would fall to the Kings 3-1 on Monday night.

Gomez's tally made it 2-1 just 2:12 into the second period, offering the Devils some hope of coming back. But they'd offer LA three two power play, and fail to capitalize on one of their own before eventually falling 3-1. Gomez has had a nice return to the team that drafted him, awarding the Devils seven goals and 30 points through 49 games.
Mar 23 - 10:37 PM

Scott Gomez collected two assists in Friday's 3-1 win over Buffalo.

Gomez and Adam Henrique set up both goals by Steve Bernier during the second period. Gomez has recorded 23 helpers and 29 points in 47 games during his return to New Jersey this season.
Mar 21 - 8:17 AM

Scott Gomez scored a goal for New Jersey, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Devils dropped a 6-2 decision to Minnesota Tuesday.

Gomez has surprisingly recorded 27 points in 43 games since joining the Devils at mid-season, however those points have been accompanied by just six penalty minutes and a minus-10 rating. Dainius Zubrus also scored for New Jersey in the blowout loss.
Mar 10 - 11:46 PM

Scott Gomez had two assists in New Jersey's 5-2 victory against Philadelphia on Sunday.

That put Gomez into a tie for fourth place with Scott Niedermayer on New Jersey's all-time points list. Gomez, who returned to the Devils in 2014-15 after spending seven campaigns away from the squad, has 476 points in 590 career games with New Jersey.
Mar 9 - 10:20 AM

Scott Gomez could find himself on a new team when the NHL trade deadline comes to an end on Monday.

Gomez is having a nice offensive season, his first in four seasons as he has five goals and 23 points in 38 games. There are plenty of playoff bound teams looking for a boost in offense and Gomez could be targeted by some clubs.
Mar 1 - 7:42 AM

Scott Gomez (flu) feels well enough to play Friday.

Gomez was initially questionable due to the illness. He has five goals and 23 points in 37 games this season.
Feb 27 - 5:38 PM

Scott Gomez is "very questionable" for Friday's game due to the flu.

Gomez has five goals and 23 points in 37 games in 2014-15. His absence would compound the loss of Jaromir Jagr, who was dealt to the Florida Panthers on Thursday. Michael Ryder and Martin Havlat might both come out of the press box.
Feb 27 - 11:19 AM

Scott Gomez scored a goal in the Devils' 3-0 victory against Arizona on Monday.

Gomez has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last six games. He has reinvigorated his career in New Jersey with five goals and 23 points in 38 contests in 2014-15.
