Mark Eaton's presence in the lineup has helped stabilize Pittsburgh's defense.

The Penguins are 15-1 with Eaton in the lineup and they have allowed just 1.81 goals per game when he's dressed. Without him, the team surrenders 2.83 goals per game. "The state our defense was in, we were looking for a veteran guy to come in and settle things down," said assistant coach Todd Reirden. "We didn't anticipate him being this effective on the ice. He's been everything we hoped for and more." Eaton has also helped improve the team's penalty kill when he's suited up. He appears to have earned his spot on the roster.

Mark Eaton has agreed to a one-year/$725,000 deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Eaton will provide the Pittsburgh Penguins with extra depth and another veteran presence. However, we expect him to get next to no points in 2013.

Mark Eaton played in his 600th game on Friday.

Eaton made it a night to remember, scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime win. It was his first goal since Nov. 28, 2009. Needless to say, Eaton isn't much of an offensive threat.

Not a bad time for Eaton to score his first goal of the season. Matt Martin netted a goal at 5:27 of the third period to send the game to overtime. P.A. Parenteau registered two assists, giving him 47 points in 50 games.

To little surprise, the New York Islanders placed Mark Eaton (knee) on the injured reserve list.

Eaton showed flashes of offensive upside here and there when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but his ceiling is much lower in Long Island. He's expected to miss about six weeks with that sprained MCL.
