Montreal Canadiens defenseman Francis Bouillon admitted that he played with a fractured finger for almost a month.
Bouillon reportedly injured his hand fighting Steve Ott on April 11. Clearly Bouillon wanted to show that he'd fight through pain, even after signing a one-year contract extension through 2013-14. May 11 - 3:23 PM

Francis Bouillon will move up into Montreal's top-four defense group in Thursday's match against Buffalo.

He will play alongside Andrei Markov, which will bump Davis Drewiske to the third pairing with rookie Nathan Beaulieu. Bouillon is a small, but feisty blueliner who should help out the defensive shortcomings of Markov.

Francis Bouillon and the Montreal Canadiens have agreed to a one-year extension worth $1.5 million.

"That's a good vote of confidence from the organization," Bouillon said after practice. "When my agent called me two weeks to tell me that they wanted to sign me for next year I was really happy about it." He has posted seven points, 51 hits, 31 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating in 29 games this season.

Francis Bouillon scored his first goal in 26 games this season in Sunday's win over Florida.

He has seven points and a plus-3 rating to go along with 41 hits and 27 blocked shots. Bouillon should only be on your radar in a very deep league that rewards hits and blocks.

Francis Bouillon was afraid that a canceled season meant his career was over.

The 37-year-old has instead played his 500th game with the Habs, and he'll play his 700th sometime next week. It's been a career full of overcoming adversity for the defenseman, who has had knee surgery, a groin injury and a concussion. Oh yeah, and he was never drafted in junior, either. "I was really worried during the lockout," he said this week. "I have a one-year contract and I thought that if they cancelled the season, I wouldn’t have an opportunity to show that I could play." Bouillion is averaging about 19 minutes a game, has four assists and a plus-six rating.

Francis Bouillon jumped at the chance to return to Montreal as a free agent this past summer, but the NHL lockout has soured his return a bit. \

"It's important for me to play this season," he said this week after a workout at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard. "At my age, and with a one-year contract, I have to show teams what I can do. I know that if we're out for a whole season, I may not play in the NHL again." He played in Sweden during 2004-05 lockout, but back then he was able to take his family with him and he won't get that opportunity this time around with his kids already enrolled in school. If he signed in Europe he would have to go on his own, so he is hoping for a quick resolution to the CBA negotiations.

Francis Bouillon has inked a one year, $1.5 million deal with the Montreal Candiens.

Bouillon has played the majority of his 676-game NHL career with Montreal aside from the last three seasons he suited up for Nashville. He doesn't have any fantasy value, but the diminutive blueliner can play a rugged game.

The Predators won't be re-signing Francis Bouillon this offseason.

General manager David Poille is ready to feature Ryan Ellis on the blueline full-time next season, and because he's a bit small in stature at 5-foot-10, the GM wants to add more size on the back end. Bouilon is 5-foot-8. "If all things are equal we’d like to get a little bit bigger on the blueline if we’re going to play Ellis in a regular position there," Poile said. "That’s the process with not bringing Frankie back."

Francis Bouillon wants to return to the Nashville Predators next year.

Bouillon can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 but the 36-year-old defenseman still feels he can play. "I feel great," Bouillon said. "I may be 36 years old, but I feel like 25, so hopefully I’ve got a few more seasons." He has no fantasy value.

Nashville defenseman Francis Bouillon loves playing in Phoenix where he seems to be an offensive force.

Bouillon had a couple of assists in Game 1 after scoring his first goal of the season on March 12. He was reunited with defenseman Hal Gill on the blueline as Gill returned to action after missing the first round against Detroit with a lower body injury. "He’s a great guy behind me, and I have a lot of confidence when he’s with me on the ice. He has a lot of experience, too," Bouillon said of Gill. "It doesn’t matter who I play with, though. If I’m going to jump in the play, I’m going to try to do it."

Francis Bouillon will likely play his first playoff game since April 26, 2010 on Wednesday.

The hard-hitting defenseman missed half of last season and the playoff run with a concussion, but is excited to take part in the postseason again. "I’m an emotion guy, and the playoffs is all about emotions," Bouillon said. "I have always been a good player in the playoffs. It’s a higher level of work, and that’s my type of hockey." Bouillon has six points in 31 playoff games, 25 of which came with the Montreal Canadiens.
