He has been absent for the last 11 games, but said this morning that he will return against the Rangers. Fisher may play between Colin Wilson and Viktor Arvidsson, which is where he practiced on Sunday.

Mike Fisher dropped the gloves with Anaheim's Kevin Bieksa on Tuesday night.

Fisher knocked out one of Bieksa's teeth with a hard left shot in the altercation. "It was just one of those part-of-the-game kind of deals," Fisher said. "(They) were taking liberties on some of our guys, and it was just kind of one of (those) spur-of-the-moment things. It just happens." Fisher has 19 penalty minutes and four points in 17 games this season.

The Nashville Predators got their first taste of 3-on-3 overtime on Saturday night against Ottawa.

The Predators were thoroughly dominated in the extra frame, but they were able to hang on and eventually win in the shootout. "It wasn't as exciting," Predators forward Mike Fisher said with a laugh. "It was a lot of defense tonight. There wasn't as many chances." After the game, head coach Peter Laviolette also admitted that the overtime period didn't go the way the team planned. "I think they had the jump on us a little bit," Laviolette said. A little bit quicker than we were, so they controlled more of it." For one night, Nashville's poor play in overtime won't matter, as they were able to pick up the two points in the standings.

The Nashville Predators have signed Mike Fisher a two-year, $8.8 million contract extension.

That represents a mild raise over his previous two-year, $8.4 million deal. Fisher had 19 goals and 39 points in 59 contests in 2014-15. He didn't make his season debut in 2014-15 until Nov. 27 due to a Achilles injury. He turned 35 years old on June 5.

It's believed that Mike Fisher will agree to a two-year extension by the end of the week with the Nashville Predators.

Contract talks have been going smoothly between the two sides and Fisher's agent, Todd Reynolds said that it "won't be necessary" for his client to listen to offers from other teams.
