Mike Fisher will be a healthy scratch in Saturday's game against the Minnesota Wild.
The Predators have been giving some of their veterans some rest over the last few weeks and it's Fisher's turn tonight. Fisher has two goals and one assist in eight games this season. He isn't worth owning in any fantasy leagues. Alexei Emelin and Matt Irwin will also watch the game from the press box. Mar 24 - 7:46 PM

Mike Fisher scored a goal in Monday's 4-0 win over Buffalo.

Fisher got the game-winning goal for the Predators at the 12:29 mark of the second period when he opened the scoring. He has two goals in seven outings since making his season debut earlier this month.
Mar 20 - 12:05 PM

Mike Fisher will be scratched Sunday afternoon against Colorado.

Fisher is expected to make his home debut on Tuesday versus Dallas. Fisher was not on the ice for the pregame warmup Sunday. He scored a goal in his first appearance of 2017-18 on Friday.
Mar 4 - 2:52 PM

Mike Fisher found the back of the net in his first game back from retirement in a 4-3 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Viktor Arvidsson made a great play to get the puck into the zone before Fisher buried the rebound off of Filip Forsberg's shot. Fisher scoring in his first game back makes for a nice story but we'd bet against the 37-year-old providing any fantasy value over the remaining portion of the season. Kevin Fiala, Ryan Ellis and Calle Jarnkrok also scored in the win.
Mar 3 - 12:50 AM

Mike Fisher will make his season debut on Friday.

Fisher came out of retirement to sign a one-year contract with the Predators on Feb. 26. He had already been training to rejoin the team since announcing his intention of returning to the NHL on Jan. 31. He'll probably center the fourth line for now, but he could end up moving up in the depth charts.
Mar 2 - 3:17 PM

Nashville has officially signed Mike Fisher to a one-year, $1 million contract for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

Fisher decided to end his retirement and return to the Predators on Jan. 31. He has been working out with the team and could make his debut at the beginning of March. Fisher's contract had to be finalized by today to make him eligible to play.
Feb 26 - 11:06 AM

The Predators will announce the terms of Mike Fisher's contract on Monday.

It's expected to be a one-year deal worth a pro-rated $1-million. Fisher's role will certainly be different than the last time he suited up with the Preds. He is projected to be the team's fourth-line center.
Feb 25 - 6:23 PM

Mike Fisher is working towards a potential March 1 season debut.

The plan is to start him on the fourth line when he's ready and give him about 10 minutes per game. From there his role could grow depending on how he's responding. Fisher might not be a big factor for the Predators, but he would provide them with some valuable depth and his presence will likely be helpful given his experience and former role as the team captain.
Feb 22 - 2:16 PM

Mike Fisher joined the Predators for his first practice on Monday.

"It felt a little weird at first to be back out there," Fisher said. "Everything comes back quick as far as drills and fitting in, all that stuff. But I've still got to keep skating and make sure I get in good, good shape. ... I actually feel better than I thought I would at this point." He made the decision to come out of retirement on Jan. 31. There's no timetable in place for Fisher's return, but he has to sign a new contract by Feb. 26 to be eligible to play this season.
Feb 12 - 3:57 PM

Mike Fisher has decided to come out of retirement and re-sign with the Nashville Predators.

Wow. Players deciding to come out of retirement is extremely rare, especially in the middle of the season. Fisher announced his retirement back in August, but apparently the Predators got in contact with him in recent weeks and things went from there. Fisher hasn't typically been a major offensive force and given that he's probably going to need time to shake off the rust, we wouldn't count on him having any value in standard fantasy leagues. However, his return will still be a great boost for the Predators. The team is getting back its former captain, a solid two-way center, and another experienced veteran as the Predators prepare for what they hope will be another lengthy playoff run. Keep in mind that he won't be playing for Nashville immediately and hasn't actually signed yet. Instead, he's begun to skate on his own with the goal of being ready to sign with Nashville before the Feb. 26 trade deadline.
Jan 31 - 12:08 PM

Mike Fisher has announced his retirement.

Fisher played 1,088 NHL games in 17 seasons with Nashville and Ottawa. He produced 585 career points and 807 penalty minutes. The 37-year-old made the decision in a letter to The Tennessean. "I'll miss my teammates, my coaches and the game itself," Fisher wrote. "This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make, but I know I've made the right one. I've decided to retire from the NHL." Fisher served as captain of the Predators during his final campaign with the team.

Nashville GM David Poile expects to have a better understanding of what Mike Fisher's decision is regarding his future by next week.

Fisher is still an unrestricted free agent and he has been contemplating retirement. "He is on vacation, and I have been away and (focused on preparing for arbitration hearings)," Poile said Monday. "I'm hoping to talk to him later this week to see where he's at. I'd say by next week, we should have an update." The Predators would like to have their captain back for another season.

Mike Fisher hasn't decided yet if he will return to the NHL next season.

He is still going over his options. "Everyone wants to win in this game, no one probably more than me," Fisher said. "But there's other things. At the end of the day, this is a game. It's an important part of my life, but it's not everything and there's other decisions and other people that are involved, so we'll take those into account. For me, it's faith, family and then hockey. So we'll see where that fits in because, like I said, I love being part of this group. I had a blast." He can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and he is also considering retirement.

Mike Fisher can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and retirement could be a possibility.

GM David Poile wants Fisher to be back playing for the Predators next season. He posted 18 goals and 42 points in 72 contests in 2016-17. Nashville values the leadership of their team captain and a decision on the matter is expected to come soon.
Wed, Jun 14, 2017 01:12:00 PM

Mike Fisher remains goalless in 19 games so far this post-season.

Fisher entered the Cup Final with zero points in his last 14 games but has now picked up four assists in the first five games of the Final. Sunday can be Fisher's last chance at a Stanley Cup and time is running out for him to find the back of the net and make a big impact for his team.
