It's believed that Mike Fisher will agree to a two-year extension by the end of the week with the Nashville Predators.

Mike Fisher and the Nashville Predators continue to make progress on a new contract, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

There's been plenty of interest on both sides to get a deal done, so it appears to be unlikely that Fisher will become an unrestricted free agent. We will of course let you know if that changes.

Mike Fisher's agent says that there's been a healthy dialogue between his client and the Predators.

"We’ve talked, and we talked as recently as Monday of this week, and we continue to have a very healthy dialogue," Fisher’s agent, Todd Reynolds, told on Thursday. "It’s clear that it’s everyone’s goal is for Fish to stay there. It’s just that we have a little differing opinion on where the market is on him. And that’s nothing new in our business." Both sides are willing to work with a two-year offer but they have yet to agree on a dollar amount.

Mike Fisher's agent, Todd Reynolds, said that contract talks between his client and the Predators are "progressing well".

Fisher can became an unrestricted free-agent on July 1st, but both sides would like to get a deal done before then. "We're making progress," Reynolds said. "Everyone wants the same thing, and we're just trying to come to an agreement on what that ultimately looks like." Reynolds added that he believes that if a contract gets done, it will probably be for two years.

The re-signing of pending free agent Mike Fisher is a top priority of GM David Poile.

"Mike Fisher, we would love to have him back," Poile said. "He represents so much to our team, both on and off the ice. ... He's a real leader. I truly feel that the best place for Mike is here in Nashville. As long as I'm the manager, he can play as long as he wants." The interest is mutual as Fisher would love to be back with the Predators. He has been Nashville's highest-scoring forward, with 172 points, since joining the team via a trade from Ottawa in February of 2011.

Mike Fisher is confident that he will be back in Nashville next season.

He can become an unrestricted free agent in July. Fisher has been with the Predators since the 2010-11 campaign. He collected 19 goals and 39 points in 59 games this year after missing the first 21 matches with an Achilles injury.

In a surprising turn of events, Mike Fisher will make his playoff return and debut for Nashville on Thursday night for Game Five versus Chicago.

Mike Fisher is expected to lead the cast of scratches for Nashville as they try to stave off elimination on Thursday night versus Chicago.

Rookie forward Kevin Fiala and veteran defender Anton Volchenkov will join Fisher along with Nashville's recently created Black Aces squad in the press box. The Black Aces include Viktor Arvidsson, Colton Sissons, Austin Watson, Johan Alm, Anthony Bitetto, Joe Piskula, Magnus Hellberg, and Marek Mazanec for what it's worth.

Mike Fisher's status is cloudy for Thursday night due to a lower-body injury.

"We don't speculate on in or out," Fisher said after the morning skate. "I don't want to talk about lineups. Obviously, I'm hoping to get back sometime soon. We're in a position where we just need to win tonight. These guys have responded well all year, so we're looking just (to) play as hard as we can." He sat out the two games of the regular season with a lower-body injury and then left Game 1 early.
Apr 23 - 2:24 PM

Mike Fisher will not play in Tuesday's Game Four against Chicago as he is still recovering from a lower body injury.

Coach Laviolette noted that Fisher is still day-to-day and "will return at some point." Fisher is a veteran of 98 playoff games with 18 goals and 39 points to his credit, which includes his four goals and 11 points in 23 playoff games with Nashville.
Apr 21 - 8:57 PM

Mike Fisher (lower body) practiced with the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.

That's after Fisher joined his teammates for part of Monday's skate. He seems to be getting close to returning, although Predators coach Peter Laviolette didn't provide much of an update other than to say that Fisher is still regarded as day-to-day and "will return at some point."
Apr 21 - 6:39 PM

Mike Fisher (lower body) joined his teammates on the ice about 20 minutes after Monday's practice started.

He was on the ice for about 40 minutes and stayed out late, so he appears to be making some progress. However, his status for Game 4 against Chicago remains uncertain. Fisher has sat out the past two games with a lower-body injury.
Apr 20 - 5:47 PM

Mike Fisher (lower body) won't play in Game 3 against Chicago on Sunday.

The Predators will have their work cut out for themselves as they will be without Fisher and Shea Weber. Fisher also missed game two, which the Predators won, but it will be interesting to see when he is able to return. He should be considered day-to-day right now.
Apr 19 - 3:05 PM

Mike Fisher did not play Friday night in Game 2 and may also miss Game 3 due to a lower-body injury.

There are no further updates out of Nashville regarding Fisher's condition, so we have to assume he is questionable for Sunday's Game 3. Adjust your roster accordingly.
