Mike Fisher posted a farewell message on Instagram Monday.
Fisher wrote: "I'm so grateful for the last 18 years. It's hard to believe how fast the time goes. I got the chance to play and work with so many incredible people along the way. God taught me some incredible life lessons through the game of hockey over the years and without the gift He gave me none of this would have been possible. Thanks to the Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators for all the amazing memories! Lastly thanks to my friends and family for supporting me over the years. It's been a blast!!" He decided to call it a career after he returned to the Predators in March from his previous retirement. Fisher produced 589 points and 815 penalty minutes in 1,104 contests. May 21 - 1:37 PM

Head coach Peter Laviolette is trying to persuade Mike Fisher to join his coaching staff after Fisher announced his retirement for the second time.

"I keep asking him to coach, and he keeps saying no," Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. Fisher has said he will prioritize time with his wife Carrie Underwood and his family but hasn't ruled out a future with the Predators organization. "I’m sure we’ll have some conversations in the future," Fisher said. "But right now, I don’t really know what that’s going to look like." The 37-year-old will finish his career with 589 points in 1104 career regular-season games. He was never able to win the Stanley Cup, finishing as a runner-up on two separate occasions (2006-07 and 2016-17).
May 19 - 9:19 AM

Mike Fisher was unable to play in Game 7 against Winnipeg because of a meniscus injury.

Nashville GM David Poile believes that Fisher would have been able to play in the Stanley Cup Final had the team advanced that far. Fisher announced after Nashville's playoff exit that he plans to retire again.
May 14 - 11:48 AM

Mike Fisher confirmed to the media today that he is officially ending his career as an NHL player.

However, Fisher did add that he is open to taking on a role within the Predators organization in the future. The 37-year-old center will finish his career with 278 goals and 589 points in 1104 games but never won a Stanley Cup.
May 12 - 12:51 PM

Mike Fisher (lower body) will not play in Game 7 against the Winnipeg Jets.

Fisher exited Game 6 in the first period and never returned. He also hasn't practiced leading up to this game, so it's not surprising to see that he won't be able to go tonight. The 37-year-old has just one goal in 12 games this postseason. He's considered day-to-day.
May 10 - 6:17 PM

Mike Fisher (undisclosed) wasn't on the ice for Thursday's practice.

The session was optional, but Fisher also missed Wednesday's practice. At this point it seems more likely than not that Fisher won't be available for Game 7 Thursday night, but that's just speculation.
May 10 - 12:14 PM

Mike Fisher (undisclosed) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.

Nashville still hasn't provided an update on his status. It's starting to seem unlikely that he will be in the lineup for Game 7 against Winnipeg. However, there might not be word on his status until close to puck drop on Thursday.
May 9 - 9:17 PM

Coach Peter Laviolette did not have an update on Mike Fisher (undisclosed) Tuesday.

The Predators bench boss said an update could be given the next few days if it is required. Fisher exited Game 6 on Monday night against Winnipeg due to an undisclosed injury. If he can't play in Game 7 on Thursday night then Miikka Salomaki or Ryan Hartman are the likeliest candidates to draw back into the lineup.
May 8 - 3:53 PM

Mike Fisher suffered an undisclosed injury during Game 6 against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.

Fisher had just 2:58 of ice time before exiting and not returning. The reason for his departure is unclear, but he took a right-hander to the back of the head from Jets defender Tyler Myers. The veteran is considered day-to-day at this point and it's unclear if he'll be available for Game 7 on Thursday night in Nashville.
May 8 - 12:40 AM

Mike Fisher scored his first goal of the playoffs in Game 3 against Winnipeg.

Fisher opened the scoring at the 4:53 mark of the first period in Nashville's 7-4 loss to the Jets. It was also his first point in nine postseason outings this year. Fisher notched two goals and two assists in 16 contests during the regular season.
May 2 - 9:25 AM

Mike Fisher registered an assist in the Predators' season finale on Saturday.

Fisher came out of retirement and made his season debut on March 2. He's recorded two goals and four points in 16 games while averaging a bit over 12 minutes per contest. He's added to the Predators' already impressive depth and is providing them with a key veteran presence, but from an offensive standpoint, he's not much of a factor at this stage of his career.
Apr 8 - 7:27 AM

Mike Fisher will be a healthy scratch in Saturday's game against the Minnesota Wild.

The Predators have been giving some of their veterans some rest over the last few weeks and it's Fisher's turn tonight. Fisher has two goals and one assist in eight games this season. He isn't worth owning in any fantasy leagues. Alexei Emelin and Matt Irwin will also watch the game from the press box.
Mar 24 - 7:46 PM

Mike Fisher scored a goal in Monday's 4-0 win over Buffalo.

Fisher got the game-winning goal for the Predators at the 12:29 mark of the second period when he opened the scoring. He has two goals in seven outings since making his season debut earlier this month.
Mar 20 - 12:05 PM

Mike Fisher will be scratched Sunday afternoon against Colorado.

Fisher is expected to make his home debut on Tuesday versus Dallas. Fisher was not on the ice for the pregame warmup Sunday. He scored a goal in his first appearance of 2017-18 on Friday.
Mar 4 - 2:52 PM

Mike Fisher found the back of the net in his first game back from retirement in a 4-3 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Viktor Arvidsson made a great play to get the puck into the zone before Fisher buried the rebound off of Filip Forsberg's shot. Fisher scoring in his first game back makes for a nice story but we'd bet against the 37-year-old providing any fantasy value over the remaining portion of the season. Kevin Fiala, Ryan Ellis and Calle Jarnkrok also scored in the win.
