Brad Stuart will play in his 1000th career NHL game on Thursday night in Pittsburgh.
"It’s a nice accomplishment, something that you don’t really think about when you come into the league," Stuart said. "You’re just trying to stay in the league and establish yourself, and then as I got closer and closer I realized how it’s a pretty good milestone for someone to play that many games. It’s a lot games, but I’ve had a lot of fun and made a lot of good memories." The Avalanche will honor Stuart on December 23rd at the Pepsi Center. Dec 18 - 6:02 PM

Brad Stuart (hamstring) apparently isn't recovering the way doctors originally anticipated.

That isn't very good news, but there's no timetable available for Stuart's return to action. He has missed the last seven games with a hamstring injury.

Brad Stuart (hamstring) is on the injured reserve list.

Stuart couldn't complete Tuesday's game due to the ailment. He's expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
Nov 5 - 3:24 PM

Brad Stuart left the Avalanche tilt with the Canucks on Tuesday night after suffering apparent leg injury.

The news came first from the Avalanche twitter account. He is doubtful to return. We do know the Avs defense is already thin and this doesn't help.

Brad Stuart may have a nagging injury that may keep him out of the Avalanche lineup Saturday against the Canadiens.

He did not practice Friday. Stuart has not played well this season. He has no points and has a minus four rating. Perhaps a sit down, whether he is injured or not, is in order.

Brad Stuart's new two-year deal comes with a modified no-trade clause.

Stuart can limit his potential destinations to seven teams of his choosing. While his cap hit isn't terrible at $3.6 million annually through the 2016-17 campaign, it seems unlikely that Colorado will find many interested parties for him if they did want to trade him in a year or two given that he'll turn 35 in November.
Sep 29 - 6:37 PM

Brad Stuart has agreed to a two-year, $7.2 million contract extension with Colorado.

In other words, Stuart will maintain his 2014-15 salary of $3.6 million. Stuart is 34 years old, so locking him up through the 2016-17 campaign is certainly a risk. He had 11 points in 61 games with San Jose last season. The Avalanche acquired him over the summer in exchange for a 2016 second round pick and 2017 sixth rounder.
Sep 29 - 11:07 AM

The Colorado Avalanche are happy with their acquisition of defenseman Brad Stuart.

The Avs acquired Stuart from the San Jose Sharks for some draft picks during the off-season. "He’s a threat," said Gabriel Landeskog. "As an opposing forward you know that he’s on the ice, and you have to be aware." Colorado has a young group of defensemen on their roster, so they will count on Stuart to bring some much-needed leadership to their blue line. "He’s going to be able to share his past experience," said Avs head coach Patrick Roy. "I’m sure our players will benefit from it." Stuart isn’t a big point producer and can be ignored in standard fantasy leagues.

Sep 28 - 11:07 AM

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired defensive defenseman Brad Stuart from San Jose for draft picks.

The Sharks receive a second round pick in 2016 and a sixth rounder in 2017. The 34-year-old Stuart will provide a steadying hand on the young Avs bleuline but his fantasy value is negligible.
Jul 1 - 12:53 PM

Brad Stuart is finding himself rather healthy in the playoffs thus far.

Stuart was injured just before the Olympic break and sat out six weeks, returning on March 24. The long layoff seemed to heal all his injuries and he and the Sharks are now benefiting from the rest as he has been stellar defensively on the blueline for San Jose through the first two games of the playoffs. He has yet to get a point but is plus-four in the early going.
