Nick Boynton, who was a healthy scratch in the Flyers' last two games, will play on Tuesday.

It will be Boynton's first game since he had a minus-two rating in Philadelphia's 3-2 win on March 15th. He was claimed off waivers on February 26th after recording eight points in 41 games with Chicago this season.

Nick Boynton made his Flyers' debut on Thursday.

The Flyers claimed Boynton off of waiver on February 26th with the intention of employing him as a seventh defenseman. He played alongside Matt Carle on Thursday because Chris Pronger is out with a right hand injury. Boynton had two penalty minutes and was on the ice for 11:24 minutes. He has no fantasy value.

The Philadelphia Flyers have claimed Nick Boynton off waivers.

Boynton heads from the Stanley Cup champs to the Stanley Cup runner-ups. The Flyers have been searching for a depth defenseman. Claiming Boynton means that they have no need to trade spare parts anymore. It is unclear if or when Boynton will see game action with Philly.

Nick Boynton has been placed on waivers.

Boynton has spent eight straight games in the press box. He doesn't have any fantasy value, but he's a decent depth defenseman. We wouldn't be surprised if he gets claimed, despite the number of other blueliners currently on waivers and re-entry waivers.

Nick Boynton was a healthy scratch for the third consecutive game.

Boynton last played on Monday and had two points including his first goal of the season, in the previous two games so he has shown some offensive ability of late. He has a goal and eight points in 41 games this season with 36 penalty minutes giving him limited fantasy value at best in the deepest of leagues.

Nick Boynton netted his first goal of the season on Friday.

Boynton has eight points in 40 games this season. He's not known for his offensive abilities, but he hasn't spent as much time in the sin bin as we're used to. He has 36 penalty minutes in 40 contests, but he has averaged 1.44 penalty minutes per game over the course of his career.

Nick Boynton sat out his fourth straight game on Saturday.

Boynton was listed as a healthy scratch as was John Scott and Ryan Johnson, but Boynton has been dealing with the flu this week. That being said, he was healthy enough to play on Saturday. The Blackhawks lost on Saturday for the first time in four games, albeit in a shootout, so at least one of the scratches could be back in the Chicago lineup on Sunday.

Nick Boynton missed Wednesday's game with the flu.

It was the sixth straight game that Boynton missed and the defenseman would have likely sat out anyway if he had been healthy. He has six points and 34 penalty minutes in 37 games and could have a tough time getting back into the lineup with the recent very good play of rookie Nick Leddy.

Nick Boynton is battling the flu.

Boynton missed Tuesday's practice as a result and he should be considered questionable for Wednesday's contest. He has six points and 34 penalty minutes in 37 games this season.

Nick Boynton was a healthy scratch for the third straight game on Wednesday.

Boynton has six assists in 37 games this season, but after blocking 34 shots in his first nine games, he has only 33 in his last 28 contests. "I haven't done a whole lot of talking to the coaching staff," Boynton said. "I just do what I'm told, try to work hard and stay ready if they need me." Jack Skille was also a healthy scratch on Wednesday.

Nick Boynton has an NHL-leading 34 blocked shots in nine games.

He has 10 more blocked shots than Dan Girardi, Brent Sopel, and teammate Duncan Keith, who are all tied for second place. Boynton has just two points this season, but his defensive contributions should help him continue to get playing time even after blueliner Brian Campbell returns.

Nick Boynton will have to prove his worth over the next week.

Boynton had a weak game Friday against the St. Louis Blues, but he does have time on his side. Brian Campbell returns in about a week, giving Boynton some more time as the ‘Hawks fourth defenseman. ''His minutes have jumped up recently,'' coach Joel Quenneville said. ''We're happy with the way he's playing. He's been playing against a lot of top guys. ... He's smart around the net [and] simple. When a guy can absorb those types of minutes over the course of a game, it really enhances your team. Nick jumped forward and took advantage of quality ice time.''

Nick Boynton blocked six shots in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout win over Vancouver.

Boynton played 27:38 minutes in the win. He will lose some ice time when Brian Campbell returns from injury but his performance thus far solidifies his role as a third unit defenseman when the Blackhawks are at full strength.
