Nik Antropov has spoken to teams about a return to the NHL.
He is participating at the BioSteel camp in Toronto to prepare for a possible tryout agreement at training camp. "I have a year or two in me for sure," Antropov said. "We're talking to a couple of teams, who I won't name. My experience is huge. I know the game has gotten a lot faster, which is why I'm at this camp. We'll see where I end up. If anything comes up, I'll be grateful. If not, I'll have to think about what's going on." He spent the last two campaigns in the KHL. Thu, Aug 20, 2015 06:03:00 PM

Nik Antropov is considering staging an NHL comeback.

Antropov has spent the last two campaigns in the KHL. He had 21 points and 64 penalty minutes in 39 games with Astana Barys in 2014-15. At the age of 35, we wouldn't count on him having any fantasy value in standard leagues if he plays in the NHL.

Nik Antropov signed a two-year contract with Astana Barys of the KHL.

Antropov becomes the latest Jet to head to Russia, following Alex Burmistrov and several others. Antropov never lived up the hype of being the 10th overall pick in 1998, but he did fashion a solid 13-season NHL career that included stops in Toronto, New York, Atlanta and Winnipeg. We're betting this is likely the last we've seen of Antropov in North America. He scored 193 goals and 465 points in 788 career NHL games.

Nik Antropov is headed to the KHL and there are several clubs interested in signing him, according to Russian media outlet Sport-Express.

There hasn't been a ton of interest in Antropov during this summer's free-agent frenzy, so it makes sense he's considering heading to the KHL. Antropov would also likely fetch a bigger pay day and a longer contract back home. The report didn't specify which teams were interested, but it sounds like Antropov's NHL days are numbered.

Nik Antropov generated a goal and an assist in Winnipeg's 5-3 loss to Washington Tuesday night.

It was his first game back since April 2 because of a lower-body injury and he displayed some good leadership while garnering 18:41 of ice time. Antropov was also credited with two hits and two blocked shots. He's unrestricted free agent this summer and his future with the club is uncertain.

Nik Antropov (lower body) is expected to be available to play Tuesday night against Washington.

He has been sidelined since April 2 with a lower-body ailment, but it sounds like he will draw back into the lineup in the place of Kyle Wellwood, who was hurt in Monday's win over Buffalo.

Nik Antropov skated Tuesday for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury.

Antropov was originally projected to miss two weeks with the injury but is a couple days behind that schedule. The Jets say he's day-to-day and could return this week. Antropov has five goals and 16 points this season.

Nik Antropov is projected to miss two weeks with a lower-body injury.

Now the Jets acquisition of Mike Santorelli from the waiver wire from the Florida Panthers makes a little more sense. Antropov has recorded five goals and 16 points in 38 contests this year.

Nick Antropov potted a goal in the Jets’ 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers Monday night.

Antropov has slightly picked up his play of late but he still has fairly marginal fantasy value. Just remember that consistency hasn't been his specialty if you decide to take a chance on him.

Nik Antropov has stepped up his play physically and offensively of late.

Over the past nine games, he has generated 26 hits and seven points. Antropov has two power-play goals and five helpers in his past six matches. His play has picked up but he still has fairly marginal fantasy value. Antropov is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

Nik Antropov filled the stat sheet against his former team in a 5-2 for Winnipeg against Toronto on Tuesday night.

He registered a goal, two assists, two penalty minutes and three shots versus the team that drafted him 10th overall back in 1998. Nik Antropov could play on Saturday in Winnipeg's opener after missing the first part of training camp with an upper-body injury.

Nik Antropov appears to be recovered from the upper-body injury that prevented him participating in the first portion of training camp.

He skated on Wednesday in his first session, while wearing a regular color practice jersey. It looks like he'll be ready to go for Winnipeg's opener on Saturday afternoon versus Ottawa.

Claude Noel says he's still waiting for an update on Nik Antropov (upper body) but if hopeful the C will be able to skate Wednesday.

Antropov has what the team has dubbed a minor "upper-body ailment," which is unlikely to keep him sidelined for long. Antropov figures to be the Jets' third-line center, limiting whatever fantasy upside he may have had. The only bright side is Antropov is in the final year of his contract, which could provide some motivation.
