Brenden Morrow wasn't happy with the way he played against the Islanders in Round 1 and he's already gotten off to a decent start versus Ottawa.
"Looking back at that series against the Islanders, I'll be honest, I'm not too happy with how I played," he said. "I was a minus-3. I know I need to be better than that, and I know I can play better than that. I'm not satisfied right now." Morrow had an assist on Paul Martin's power-play goal in Game 1 versus the Senators and their physical style should suit him better than the speedy game that the Isles play. Morrow has been credited with 22 hits in seven postseason matches with the Penguins. May 17 - 9:51 AM

The Penguins' third line did an excellent job against the Islanders' top line in Game 1

John Tavares was basically invisible in Game 1, and that can be credited to the physical play from Brenden Morrow and Matt Cooke, the third-line wingers. "Together they make a formidable, physical presence that is a pretty good characteristic of that line," coach Dan Bylsma said of Morrow and Cooke. It also helps that Brandon Sutter is considered one of the better up-and-coming checking-line centers in the game.

Brenden Morrow hasn't been in a playoff game since 2008, so he's anxious to experience that rush again.

"It's never easy [watching the playoffs], though. I know from playing in them that there isn't a better feeling," he said. "You get nerves and butterflies every game in the playoffs. The atmosphere you're playing in, the intensity of the games -- there's just nothing that compares to it. So I'm really looking forward to it." Morrow notched six goals and 14 points in 15 matches with Pittsburgh after he was acquired from Dallas.

Brenden Morrow had two goals and an assist in the Pittsburgh Penguins' 6-4 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.

Morrow now has nine points in 10 games as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Fellow recent additions Jarome Iginla (1G, 1A) and Brandon Sutter (two goals) also managed to shine in that high-scoring contest.

Brenden Morrow scored two goals and collected an assist to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers Saturday night.

Kris Letang also scored for Pittsburgh. Pens star center Evgeni Malkin missed the game with an upper body injury, reported by some as a severe sunburn. The Penguins were also without Sidney Crosby, who is out indefinitely with a broken jaw. The Penguins won for the 19th time in 21 games.
Apr 13 - 11:41 PM

Brenden Morrow produced his first goal on Tuesday night since being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

His seventh marker of the season was assisted by new linemates Jussi Jokinen and Pascal Dupuis. Morrow also had two shots and three hits in the contest. He has posted two points in seven games since joining the Penguins, but coach Dan Bylsma has enjoyed the winger's physical style.
Apr 10 - 11:17 AM

Brenden Morrow has just one assist in six games with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Penguins acquired Morrow from the Dallas Stars. For his part, Penguins GM Ray Shero isn't particularly concerned about Morrow's relative lack of offensive production. "If we could add grit and leadership to our top nine, we wanted that element," Shero said. "That led us to the Morrow deal. His game is not so much about stats and goals, even though I believe he will chip in. He could be that battle-tested guy who comes up big for us in many ways." That might be, but those hoping that the trade would spark Morrow offensively should reassess the situation.
Apr 8 - 10:37 AM

Brenden Morrow will make his Pittsburgh Penguins debut Tuesday night.

Morrow is expected to get minutes equivalent with a top-six forward initially and should play with James Neal and Evgeni Malkin when Malkin is healthy. While playing on either of the Pens' top two lines is an immediate boost to anyone's fantasy value, we'll have to see if Morrow can produce enough to stay there. For now, he might be worth a gamble in most formats simply based on playing with Malkin.
Mar 26 - 1:41 PM

Brenden Morrow is slated to get minutes as a top-six forward when he makes his debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"Initially, I see him playing with [Evgeni] Malkin and [James] Neal," coach Dan Bylsma said. Bylsma added that Morrow could end up on the third line down the road though. Morrow is a rugged forward, who is expected to play a complimentary role as a member of the Penguins. Still, he could get a boost in fantasy value if he can do what no one else has been able to this season and stick around alongside Malkin and Neal.
Mar 25 - 11:42 AM

The Boston Bruins apparently lost out on Brenden Morrow when he agreed to waive his no-trade clause to go to Pittsburgh.

The Penguins also received a 2013 third-round pick in the deal that sent prospect defenseman Joe Morrow and a 2013 fifth-round pick to the Dallas Stars. The Bruins also had an offer on the table for Morrow, but now they will turn their attention elsewhere.
Mar 25 - 9:50 AM

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Brenden Morrow from the Dallas Stars via a trade.

The exact terms of the deal aren't known just yet, although many speculate that prospect Joe Morrow will go to Dallas. Morrow presents an interesting gamble for fantasy owners, especially if he lines up with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal as some suspect.
Mar 24 - 5:25 PM

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars reportedly have a deal in place to send Brenden Morrow to Pittsburgh, although the Stars captain needs to waive his no-trade clause.

That could be a stumbling block for the Stars captain, who's played every game of his career stemming back to the 1999-2000 season with Dallas. Still, he'd get a chance to play for a legitimate contender. The right line assignment could give his fantasy value a serious boost. Funny enough, Joe Morrow might go to Dallas in the potential deal.
Mar 24 - 4:23 PM

Although he played Thursday night, Brenden Morrow is not fully recovered from his groin muscle strain.

Well that in part explains why he only was on the ice for 10:45 in the 2-1 shootout loss to the Ducks. "You guys could tell that he wasn’t 100 percent, but he’s a warrior and he wanted to be in this game,’’ Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said of Morrow. "And he helped, he gave us a little weight in there, just his leadership on the bench helps us out. I don’t think we had any setbacks. He’s certainly not 100 percent, but he got through the game and I don’t think we had any setbacks. So he should be 90-95 percent for Saturday." We wouldn't activate Morrow until he is showing no ill effects from his groin muscle pull.
Mar 15 - 9:23 AM

Brenden Morrow was back in the Stars' lineup Thursday night against the Ducks.

He has recovered from a groin strain. That said, Morrow only received 15 shifts and 10:45 of ice time against Anaheim. He is no longer the player he once was, but he still may be worthy of a reserve roster spot in very deep pools.
