Randy Johnson has officially announced his retirement, according to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse.
The 46-year-old southpaw announced his decision during a Tuesday conference call. Johnson's 22nd season was cut short due to injury, posting a 4.88 ERA in 96 innings, but he did reach the 300-win plateau against the Nationals in June. The Big Unit finishes his illustrious career at 303-166 with a 3.29 ERA and 1.17 WHIP, including five Cy Young Awards. His 4,875 career strikeouts are second only to Nolan Ryan. He'll surely be a member of the Hall of Fame class in 2015.

Randy Johnson will announce his retirement on Tuesday evening, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
Johnson's camp moved up the announcement by a day to avoid conflict with Tuesday's Hall of Fame announcements, a ceremony he should enjoy in five years. The 46-year suffered a torn rotator cuff in early July, making a return to the diamond for a 23rd year unlikely. The Big Unit ends a stellar career 303-166 with a 3.29 ERA and 4,875 career strikeouts.

Randy Johnson will make an announcement on his future on Tuesday, with several writers, including USA Today's Bob Nightengale, speculating that he will announce his retirement.
The Big Unit suffered a torn rotator cuff in early July, making this decision easier. The 46-year old was 8-6 this past season with a 4.81 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 22 appearances. If this is it, Johnson was 303-166 in 22 major league seasons, compiling a 3.29 ERA and 4,875 career strikeouts. Cooperstown will be his next stop.

Randy Johnson is still weighing whether to return for the 2010 season.
It would be Johnson's 23rd professional season. He was 8-6 this season with a 4.81 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 22 appearances before suffering a torn rotator cuff in early July. "It depends whether he still has the fire and whether he wants to compete and how he feels," said his agent, Alan Nero. "He's enjoying his family... and I can't speak for him."

Giants placed RHP Ryan Vogelsong on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand.
Vogelsong was hit by a pitch while swinging the bat in the fifth inning Tuesday and suffered fractures above and below the top knuckle in his pinkie. He's expected to undergo surgery Tuesday and will likely miss around six weeks. Chad Gaudin is the most likely replacement for the rotation, though the Giants could call up Michael Kickham from Triple-A.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated Friday that knee surgery is a "strong possibility" for Santiago Casilla.
They'll announce their decision later Friday evening. Casilla has been dealing with a cyst in his right knee since last season, and became enough of an issue recently that he had to be placed on the DL. If he undergoes the surgery, which appears likely at this point, the timetable for his recovery would be four weeks.
