Athletics activated OF Chris Young from the 15-day disabled list.
Young, out since April 29, returns after missing just under three weeks. With Josh Reddick on the DL and Seth Smith slumping, Young should see plenty of playing time now that he's finally healthy.

Chris Young (quad) had some cramping in his leg after Thursday's rehab game, but hopes to be activated from the disabled list on Saturday.
Young was originally expected to be activated following Thursday's rehab game, but it appears that the leg cramping set him back a day. It's not expected to be a major setback, so look for him to return to the A's lineup at some point over the weekend.

Chris Young (quad) is not expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday.
Young, currently sidelined with a quad injury, went 1-for-1 with two walks and a stolen base Thursday in a rehab game with Triple-A Sacramento. There was speculation that he would be activated Friday, but the A's apparently think that he needs at least one more day.

Chris Young (quad) will play a minor league rehab game Thursday with Triple-A Sacramento.
Young had a minor setback in an extended spring training game earlier this week, but he's back on track. If all goes well, Young will be activated Friday. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since April 29 with a strained left quad.

It's a procedural move to open up a 40-man roster spot. Sizemore underwent his second major knee surgery in two years last week and will not play this season.

Lowrie was injury Tuesday when he was hit by a Yu Darvish pitch. He won't play Wednesday but should be back in the lineup Friday following Thursday's off day.

Josh Reddick (wrist) will try taking batting practice on Friday.
If it goes well, he'll be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. Reddick discussed last week the possibility of surgery on his right wrist, but he's been able to take dry swings with no issues. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks, it seems possible that he could be activated sometime next week.

Brett Anderson was diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture of his right foot and will be shut down for four weeks.
Rough news for Anderson, who just can't seem to stay healthy. The 25-year-old southpaw is set to be reevaluated after four weeks, so his actual return to the Athletics likely won't be until around the early part of July. Dan Straily is filling his spot in the rotation for now, but the A's could turn to Sonny Gray if he continues to struggle.

Rodriguez will miss the entire 2013 season. The 28-year-old had a 5.37 and 78/34 K/BB ratio over 70 1/3 innings last season with the Astros and was acquired in February's Jed Lowrie deal.
