Mets purchased the contract of RHP LaTroy Hawkins from Triple-A Las Vegas.
The Mets informed Hawkins earlier in the week that he would make the Opening Day roster, and now it's official. He'll work the middle innings.

The Mets have informed veteran righty LaTroy Hawkins that he will be in the Opening Day bullpen.
It's big news for the 40-year-old Hawkins, who signed a minor league contract with the Mets in late January. He posted a cool 3.64 ERA in 42 innings last season for the Angels and should do fine in a middle relief role.

As expected. Hawkins made the trip to Colorado on Friday and should be available to pitch Saturday if needed. He'll join Jordan Walden in a setup role behind Ernesto Frieri and Scott Downs.

Jenrry Mejia (elbow) racked up six strikeouts over three innings during his first minor league rehab start with High-A St. Lucie on Friday.
Mejia has been on the disabled list for the entire season with inflammation in his pitching elbow. He's likely to require a relatively lengthy rehab assignment, and shouldn't be expected to return to the Mets until early June. Should he secure a spot in the Mets rotation, he could carve out a decent amount of value in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

The move cleared a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster for Aaron Laffey. Santana (shoulder) won't pitch this season.

Francisco was diagnosed with a mild strain of the flexor pronator in his right elbow last week, but he's already back at it. However, it's not clear if he's throwing from a mound or simply playing catch or long-tossing. Either way, he's not close to rejoining the Mets' bullpen.

Collin McHugh was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill the vacant bullpen spot. Atchison has been shut down for a week and prescribed anti-inflammatory medication. It's not clear when he might return.

Familia's velocity has been down of late, and the Mets figured out that it's because his bicep is a tad sore. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be out. Greg Burke has taken his spot in the bullpen.
