Bartolo Colon pitched the A's past the Rangers by allowing just two runs over seven innings on Monday.
Colon walked as many batters tonight (two) as he did in his first eight starts combined, but he had his best outing in a month anyway, winning for the first time since April 23. He's 4-2 with a 4.31 ERA overall.

Bartolo Colon turned in a decent performance in Saturday's loss to the Yankees, surrendering three runs on six hits over his 5 1/3 innings.
Colon punched out three without issuing a walk. The veteran right-hander is now 3-1 on the season with a cool 3.62 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. He'll look to get back on track when he takes on the Indians in Cleveland on Thursday.

Bartolo Colon gave up five runs over six innings Sunday in a no-decision.
Colon still isn't allowing any walks, but the Orioles had nine hits and he was lucky to avoid the loss. He had just three strikeouts. Colon will try to get back on track this weekend in a matchup with the Yankees.

Bartolo Colon tossed seven scoreless innings on just three hits and a walk while striking out seven in Tuesday’s 13-0 win over the Red Sox.
About the only bad thing we can say about Colon’s outing is that he walked a batter for the first time this season. All three of the Red Sox’ hits were singles, and only once did they get more than one runner on in an inning. The game goes down as a shutout for Colon, as it was called after seven innings due to rain. The rotund right-hander has allowed just one run over his last two starts, and he now holds a 2.42 ERA and 0.92 WHIP for the season. He’ll try to keep it going this weekend against the Orioles.

It's a procedural move to open up a 40-man roster spot. Sizemore underwent his second major knee surgery in two years last week and will not play this season.

Hiroyuki Nakajima (hamstring) received a day off from his rehab assignment on Saturday but will play in each of the next three games with Triple-A Sacramento.
Nakajima has appeared in four games thus far with Sacramento, going 3-for-15 (.200) with a double and a pair of RBI. He's expected to need a lengthy rehab assignment before joining the Athletics, and isn't a lock to receive significant playing time once he is activated.

Josh Reddick (wrist) will try taking batting practice on Friday.
If it goes well, he'll be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. Reddick discussed last week the possibility of surgery on his right wrist, but he's been able to take dry swings with no issues. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks, it seems possible that he could be activated sometime next week.

Brett Anderson was diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture of his right foot and will be shut down for four weeks.
Rough news for Anderson, who just can't seem to stay healthy. The 25-year-old southpaw is set to be reevaluated after four weeks, so his actual return to the Athletics likely won't be until around the early part of July. Dan Straily is filling his spot in the rotation for now, but the A's could turn to Sonny Gray if he continues to struggle.

Rodriguez will miss the entire 2013 season. The 28-year-old had a 5.37 and 78/34 K/BB ratio over 70 1/3 innings last season with the Astros and was acquired in February's Jed Lowrie deal.
