Homer Bailey pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts in the Reds' 6-2 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.
Bailey limited the Marlins to six hits and no walks, throwing 88 of his 125 pitches for strikes. The Marlins lineup will make a Cy Young contender out of anyone, but Bailey is capable of pitching this well for sustained stretches as evidenced by his 3.68 ERA and 13 wins in 2012. He's now struck out 52 batters in 51 1/3 innings and should be a safe play in standard formats going forward. He'll get the Phillies his next time out.

Homer Bailey allowed four runs over five innings but took a no-decision as the Reds beat the Braves on Tuesday.
Bailey wasn't sharp, as he issued four free passes on the night to go along with five hits. His offense took him off the hook for what would have been his third-straight loss, though, as they rallied to win it in the ninth. A start Monday against the Marlins should cure what ails the 27-year-old.

Homer Bailey yielded one run in seven innings Friday in a tough-luck loss to the Nationals.
Bailey gave up just five hits and didn't walk a batter, but an RBI single by Jayson Werth was enough to put him on the losing side. He struck out six in the loss. After a strong second half last season, Bailey owns a 2.81 ERA and 32/9 K/BB ratio in 32 innings across his first five starts this year. He has quickly become a must-start every time out in fantasy leagues.

Homer Bailey struck out eight while permitting just two runs over six frames in Sunday's 10-6 win over the Marlins.
Bailey didn't stay in long enough to get the win, but it was a second straight nice showing. The right-hander had a rough outing against the Cardinals earlier this month but has been terrific otherwise. He'll carry a 3.24 ERA and 1.16 WHIP into Washington next weekend.

It's merely a procedural move. Ludwick has been ruled out until early July with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

The Reds have determined that Chris Heisey's hamstring aggravation was not severe.
"It wasn’t horrendous," assistant general manager Bob Miller said. "He tweaked it." Heisey won't return until the next homestand, which runs from May 24-28, at the earliest. It's certainly possible his absence could stretch into June.

Johnny Cueto (lat, oblique) has been cleared to return to the Reds' rotation on Monday in New York.
Cueto threw five shutout innings Tuesday in a rehab start with the Low-A Daytona Dragons and deemed himself fully healthy afterward. He was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a strained right lat and then later began experiencing oblique soreness. But all is well now. The Reds haven't decided whether Mike Leake or Tony Cingrani will be demoted to clear a rotation spot.

No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April.

Reds transferred RHP Nick Masset from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Masset is still recovering from right shoulder surgery, and he was recently shut down after suffering a setback. The right-hander hasn't pitched since 2011.
